So the corpse reviver no.2 will taste different depending on if you use Lillet Blanc or Cocchi Americano. Again the two aperitifs taste similar but the corpse reviver no.2 made with Cocchi will have a very slight woody sweet bitterness to it the one made with Lillet will not. That woody sweet bitterness reminds me of tamarind. The corpse reviver no.2 is a wonderful balance of sweet and sour citrus, herbal and fruit flavors. The Lillet version will be a bit less sweet than the one made with Cocchi but the Cocchi one has a nice woody-ness the one made with Lillet lacks.

Ingredients In A Corpse Reviver
London Dry Gin: I prefer Bombay Sapphire, Beefeater, Plymouth Gin, Tanqueray, or Hendricks are great options.
Orange Liqueur:such as Cointreau Gran Marnier, Gran Gala, or Triple Sec.
Lillet Blanc:Kina Lillet was traditionally used but in 1986 it was dropped from production and Lillet Blanc was introduced in its place. Lillet blanc is floral and honey-forward with notes of citrus and apricot.
Absinthe:only two dashes of absinthe is used here, which might be a temptation to skip it, but the favor and essence of absinthe cant be missed. I like to pour a tiny splash of Absinthe into a bar spoon, then add it to the coupe glass and swirl it to coat the inside of the glass. So little should be used that the absinthe through coat the glass and not pool in the bottom.

The Corpse Reviver blends were designed to refresh those who were feeling the effects of overconsumption and include sharp flavors to cut through a hangover. Amazingly, despite their considerable alcohol content, these cocktails were designed to be drunk in the morning, first thing after waking up!
The Corpse Reviver family fell out of fashion post-prohibition but were brought back into circulation later in the century. Is Lillet Blanc A Vermouth Can I Use Dry Vermouth
Lillet blanc is typically categorized with vermouths because it is an aromatized and fortified wine, but its technically not the same thing. Lillet contains citrus liqueurs and lacks some of the typical vermouth botanicals.
If you arent able to get Lillet blanc, try the Corpse Reviver 2 with Cocchi Americano. Cocchi is similar, although its more bitter.
If youre not able to find that either, you can substitute Dolin Blanc. Just dont use a dry vermouth, it will throw off the balance of the cocktail. Lillet is much sweeter than dry vermouth, and has a different, much more citrusy flavor profile.
How To Actually Improve Your Hangover And Feel Better Sooner
Rest. Get enough sleep. Its probably the single most helpful thing you can do to let your body recover.
Water. Youre probably pretty dehydrated and its making your head pound and your stomach feel even sicker. Drink plenty of water or some Gatorade.
Carbonated beverages can be especially helpful with an upset stomach, so after youve gotten some water into your system, try a ginger ale or some mineral water with lime.
A balanced breakfast. Get all your macronutrients in, if possible. Protein, fat, and carbs are your best friends right now.
A little of each of these in your stomach will quickly get you on the road to hangover recovery. My personal recommendation: a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich.
Plan ahead. Ok, obviously this one isnt always doable. But your best bet for nixing a hangover before it even begins is to plan ahead.

The original recipe asked for equal parts Gin, orange liqueur, Kina Lillet, and Lemon juice. A simple Dry Gin is the best type of Gin for this drink. For the Orange liqueur, as ever so often, I tend to use Cointreau. So far, so easy. Now, were getting to the tricky part.
Kina Lillet is no longer available, so bartenders started to replace it with Lillet Blanc. This choice is quite the obvious one, as Lillet themselves replaced Kina Lillet with Lillet Blanc. But theres a problem with this: Lillet Blanc is significantly sweeter than the traditional Kina Lillet. That alone would not be a problem. But when used in a cocktail, the result will, of course, taste different than originally intended.
Therefore, if Lillet Blanc is too sweet for your palate, try and use Cocchi Americano instead. Cocchi Americano is a dry Italian Vermouth commonly used in many cocktail recipes and closer to the taste of Kina Lillet.

Opened in 1893 The American Bar at the Savoy hotel started serving American style cocktails in London to the British upperclass. The American Bar has always been a high end bar but what really set it on the map was when Harry Craddock became its head bartender in the 1920s. Harry Craddock was a British born bartender who immigrated to the United States, eventually becoming a US citizen and head bartender of several high end hotel bars, but Harry found himself out of work with the start of prohibition in 1920. He then immigrated back to England and became head bartender of the Savoy Hotels Bar. Harry transformed The American Bar from a high end bar to one of the seminal cocktail bars of the 20th century. As the american prohibition was coming to an end the hotel realized it should record all of its most famous recipes and the innovations Harry brought to the bar and a year later they published the Savoy Cocktail Book. Printed in 1934 The Savoy Cocktail Book documents all of the bars best recipes from the 1890s to the 1930s and stands as the pillar of prohibition-era, European cocktail innovation. If Jerry Thomass Bartenders Guide is the best cocktail book the 1800s gave us, then The Savoy Cocktail Book is the best cocktail book of the first half of the 1900s. I dont think I will ever be able to drink there though. A cocktail cost around $250 there and they have one thats almost $1000, and Im not the Amazon guy, so good thing we have their recipe book.

Lillet Blanc And Its Substitutes
The official recipe uses Lillet Blanc but the Lillet Blanc we have today is fairly different from the Lillet Blanc Harry Craddock or Ian Fleming used. In 1985 the product line changed ownership and the recipe was reformulated to make it more appealing. The sweetness and bitterness of Lillet Blanc was reduced and resulted in a more modern flavor profile. That being said it still makes very good cocktails but a more accurate ingredient might be Cocchi Americano. Cocchi Americano is still a quinine infused, bitter sweet, white wine aperitif more similar to how Lillet Blanc used to taste before it was reformulated. My suggestion is to buy both and try making drinks with each and see which you like better. Hey maybe they changed it for the better. The two aperitifs are not too expensive either so buying a bottle of each is doable. Both taste of dried fruit, citrus, and honey but the difference is Lillet Blanc scales back the sweetness and bitterness where Cocchi Americano does not. I personally feel Lillet is better for sipping and Cocchi is better for mixing.

What Are The Other Corpse Reviver Cocktails
It all started in 1871. Back then, a recipe called Corpse Reviver got published in the Gentlemans Table Guide. The drink consisted of one part Brandy, one part , and two dashes of cocktail bitters. Other recipes, called Corpse Reviver or Criterion Reviver, were subsequently published in 1875 and 1903.
But it wasnt until the Savoy Cocktail Book that the Corpse Reviver drinks gained popularity. And sure enough, this popular cocktail book did include both the Corpse Reviver No. 2 and the Corpse Reviver No.1. Whereas the first version, or Corpse Reviver No. 1, is closer to the initial recipe from 1871. It asked for two parts of Cognac, one part Calvados, and one part Italian Vermouth.
Also, for the Corpse Reviver #2, theres an alternate recipe called the Corpse Reviver #2A. This slightly adjusted formula is from the famous Trader Vic, inventor of the Mai Tai cocktail. When Kina Lillet was no longer available, he replaced it with Swedish Punsch. The drink wasnt named 2A initially, but bars started to use this naming to distinguish between the classic and the modified recipe.
Other popular Corpse Reviver drinks are the Savoy Corpse Reviver, Criterion Reviver, and the Cafe Royal Revivers. All of them with very different recipes that might sometimes appear pretty much unrelated.

At least you dont have many choices for lemon juice. However, one thing stays the same: equal parts for all three four, including the gin.
The routes you decide to go should have more influence on your lineup than the base itself. The original single stack was created to keep you competitive the balancing agents will set the recipe apart. However, we are in the playoffs with three heavily stacked, offensive juggernauts. Getting cute and going with multiple flyers will not work here as it worked for the Old Fashioned. Fire off on those studs and leave enough salary to fill with players who will see multiple opportunities.
