All ovens are different so they make take a little less time or a little more depending on the brand of oven.

Making pork chops in the oven is super easy. When you cook them in the oven you can cook your veggies at the same time, making dinner quick and easy.

The trick here is to choose a baking dish that’s not too big. You want the pork chops to be fairly snug so that their juices don’t evaporate while cooking. It makes the chops juicier.

    Pork Chops With Apple Mash

    We love pork chops in the week. This recipe is made more special with an apple-flavoured mash, a dash of horseradish cream and a splash of cider. Pan-fry the chops with onions to create a delicious sticky sauce to serve with them. All it needs on the side is flash of green veg green beans are good.

    Give pork chops a sweet and sour flavour with this easy agrodolce sauce, served with white beans for extra protein.

    You will start by combining your spice mix of garlic powder, mushrooms, kosher salt, black pepper, oregano, and thyme with a little bit of butter in a large skillet. You can substitute with olive oil, in a pinch, but butter really is best!

    Pat your chops with paper towels so you have slightly dry pork chops to better absorb the flavor.

    When the butter is melted, toss in your pork chops and sear each side of your chops for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. You want a good sear on each side.

    Thats all the prep you will need!

    Now, bake your 1-inch thick pork chops on a for 35 minutes or until they are cooked through in your preheated oven. If your skillet is oven safe, just stick the whole skillet pan right into the oven. Otherwise, transfer all your ingredients onto a baking dish or an oven safe pan.

    We love this oven-safe skillet as it can be used up to a high temperature of 550 degrees Fahrenheit and is even freezer safe!

    When they are done, be sure to check the internal temperature of the pork chops with a meat thermometerin the thickest part of the chop. Remove the skillet from the oven and go ahead and set your pork chops on their plates to give them time to rest while you finish making your sauce.

    Whisk in flour and milk in with your seasoning/butter mix stirring until all lumps are removed. The final cooking time just needs a quick 3-4 minute simmer of the mixture. Serve your butter garlic sauce over the tops of your flavorful pork chops and enjoy!

    Cooking Pork Chops In The Oven

    The key to making really great pork chops in the oven is:

    • the right sauce one that will caramelise well

    • start it in the oven and

    • finish with under the broiler/grill to get a really great caramelisation. Otherwise, the pork cops come out of the oven with no colour and we all know that caramelisation = flavour!

    So baked pork chops are as simple as this:

    • Mix together the magic country-style sauce

    • Slather on both sides then bake for 15 minutes

    • Flip, slather with remaining sauce then grill/broil for 5 to 10 minutes until cooked through and beautifully caramelised. There will be enough juices on the tray to baste with and to drizzle on the chops for serving.

    How do you know when pork chops are done?

    When the internal temperature of the pork chops is 145F / 63C.

    Optional add potatoes! Theres room on the tray and I love the way the potatoes are crispy on top, and the underside absorbs the flavour and end up almost glazed!

    I use this same sauce for grilling and cooking chops on the stove but actually, my favourite way is baking. There arent many sauces / rubs you can put on baked pork chops where they come out looking and tasting this good. Normally they lack colour and therefore flavour.

    You can now cook pork to 145 °F. I recommend using a solid digital meat thermometer to check your temperatures and make sure they are cooked correctly. I personally use a Thermapen which is excellent because it gives you a reading right away without losing too much heat from the oven/bbq/etc. They also come in pretty colors like this:

    Pork is a very lean meat on the surface and as you know will dry out very fast. Even these oven baked pork chops that have a sauce are cooked lower. That homemade shake and bake mix of mine has olive oil in it, which makes up for the lack of fat on the outside of the chops. Thats why you can bake those at 400 degrees, you will get a seriously crispy, amazing pork chop! For any other that doesnt have an oil based coating that crisps up, cook it at 350 °F. To make sure they dont dry out, just keep an eye on their internal temperature and make sure to follow my tips above and not cut the fat off or use boneless pork chops.

      How To Tell When Pork Chops Are Done

      Pork is done when an internal thermometer reads 145° F. Depending on how thick the chops are, you might need to subtract or add a few minutes from the suggested cook times in our recipe below.

      If you look closely, the pork chop in the back of the pan is thicker than the one in the front.

      When we were cooking them, we removed the thinner chop first since it reached 145° F a few minutes before the thicker chop.

      So if your chops arent all the same thickness or size, its best to check the temperature of each chop and remove them as they finish cooking.

      How Long Do I Cook Pork Chops

      Something to keep in mind is that there are different cuts of pork chops. For bone-in pork chop you should cook for so it only takes 10 to 14 minutes. If you are cooking boneless pork chops, youll have to cook 2 minutes less. Again, I highly recommend you use a meat thermometer to determine doneness and not rely on the general cook time.
