Apple Cider Vinaigrette | easy salad dressing recipe!

Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is the star ingredient in apple cider vinaigrette, so look for a good quality raw, unfiltered 5% acidity cider vinegar .

Kosher salt: I recommend using kosher salt for this recipe. If you use iodized table salt you might need to adjust the amount up or down. As always, salt to taste.

Sweeter: Honey or maple syrup can be used interchangeably in this recipe. I like the flavor of maple with the cider vinegar, however honey will also work. If using honey this recipe will not be vegan. Omit the maple syrup & honey altogether for a low sugar option.

Olive oil: Since the olive oil will be consumed uncooked in this recipe, use a good quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor.

Garlic: For a stronger garlic flavor, grate or finely mince the garlic and add in step 2 of the recipe card below.

Apple Cider Vinegar Tip: Dont be alarmed if your raw apple cider vinegar looks a bit cloudy or has what appears to be sediment at the bottom. Because raw apple cider vinegar is unfiltered, it contains the mother, comprised of naturally occurring enzymes.

Perfect Apple Cider Vinaigrette

This light and tangy apple cider vinaigrette recipe takes under 5 minutes to mix together and is absolutely delicious.

When you want to kick up your salad game, homemade dressings are the way to go. For years I took the lazy route and used store bought salad dressings. Finally I realized though, that those store bought dressings often contained funky ingredients and preservatives. Switching to homemade dressings was a game-changer. When we make salad dressings at home, they are less expensive, theres less waste, they taste better, and we get to control how much oil and sugar we include.

Earlier this year I shared this creamy Lemon Tahini dressing that is one of my very favorites. I also shared a Chickpea Greek Salad with an easy Greek red wine vinaigrette. Both of those recipes were such hits with you guys, that I wanted to share another one of my favorite dressings. This Apple Cider Vinaigrette is light, tangy, and compliments almost any salad.

What should you put your apple cider vinaigrette on? Though I use this apple cider vinegar salad dressing all year long, I especially gravitate to it during the autumn and winter months when apples are in season. Its perfect on this arugula salad with pears and candied walnuts, and Ill be sharing the recipe for a farro salad with autumn roasted veggies tomorrow. You can get a sneak peek in the video below!

How To Make Apple Cider Vinaigrette

Apple Cider Vinegar Salad Dressing Recipe Eatwell101

1. Combine. Add the ingredients to a bowl or glass mason jar with a lid. I typically use a 12-ounce jar, so theres room to stir everything together.

For extra-finely minced garlic, try scraping it over a microplane. That way you wont have any large chunks in the final dressing.

You can start with only 1 tablespoon of honey if you like a more tart dressing, but I usually add 2 tablespoons in total.

2. Mix. Use a whisk to stir the ingredients together smoothly, or attach the lid to your jar and shake well.

Alternatively, you can add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Either way works.

3. Enjoy! Taste the dressing and adjust any seasoning, to taste. You can add more sweetness by adding extra honey, or add more mustard or vinegar to make it taste more tangy.

Serve it over your favorite veggies, and add any extra toppings you like. I think this delicious dressing goes well over a Fall salad, particularly with cranberries and pecans on top.

This apple cider vinegar salad dressing can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Its normal to see it separate in the fridge, so be sure to shake it again before using.

Note: Extra-virgin olive oil may thicken when chilled, so dont be alarmed if your dressing becomes very thick when you store it. You can run the jar under hot tap water until it thins out again, or let it come to room temperature on the counter before you plan on serving it again.

Whats The Difference Between Apple Cider Vinegar And White Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar Recipes: Salad Dressing

Not all vinegars are the same, Beauties. There is actually a big difference between apple cider vinegar and white vinegar.

White vinegar is made by fermenting a grain alcohol similar to vodka, which helps that good bacteria to grow and acetic acid to form. Acetic acid is what gives vinegar its distinctive taste and smell.

Most vinegars are made from fermenting alcohol, but ACV isnt made out of apple juice or cider. Its actually made from chopped up apples, covering them in water, and allowing them to ferment. The bacteria from the fermentation converts the alcohol into acetic acid, creating apple cider vinegar.

How To Make Acv

Whether you make it yourself at home, or buy it with the mother from a store, apple cider vinegar is made in a similar fashion.

Crushed apples, or apple scraps combine with water and yeast either artificially or the yeast naturally occurring on the apples skin.

If you make it at home, be sure to cover the top of the jar with a coffee filter and rubber band to allow the gases to escape, but as keep flies out.
