Ingredients Of The Glow Recipe Bright Pineapple Serum
Looking for a new product to add to your regimen? Reviewing the ingredients list is a must. Here are a few of the things youll find in this brightening serum:
- Pineapple. Its not a Glow Recipe product without a fruit-based twist, and the 22% pineapple juice that graces this serum is actually one of the best natural sources of vitamin C. It visibly fades dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
- Ascorbic acid. One out of three sources of vitamin C in this serum, ascorbic acid is an incredibly potent form of vitamin C that can clear visible signs of aging including sagging, fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots to transform your skin from dull and drab into a bright complexion.
- 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid. A vitamin C derivative that is said to be super potent and stable at the same time, 3-O-Ethyl ascorbic acid is made up of 75% ascorbic acid and 25% ethyl group. The 3rd source of vitamin C in this serum, this is one component that is rife with antioxidant properties to reveal glowing skin.
- Hyaluronic acid. An excellent hydrator, HA is known to be able to bind water 1000 times its own molecular weight, making it popular among moisturizing products.
- Vitamin E. Another hydrator in the ingredient list. This vitamin is packed with antioxidants that protects the skin as well as brightens and nourishes it.
- Aloe gel and Chamomile extracts. These natural components act as skin soothers to help the face stay calm and soft.

Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
Another win for the dry skin types out there, this mask is very moisturising, yet absorbs very quickly into the skin. So much so that you can double the layer after the first application is absorbed for extra measure. However, we cant quite place our finger on the texture. Imagine a mix of oil and a gel jelly. It does take some getting used to. Scoop the mask out of the jar takes some practice. The texture might throw you off a little at the start, but itll be worth it trust us. Theres that watermelon smell again, though!

Is Glow Recipe Really Worth All The Hype
In recent months, the cult Korean-inspired skincare range has been all the talk about the town. You’ve seen it on the ‘gram, probably have heard about it from your girlfriend. But the question remains, does it really work?
If youre looking for the latest in beauty, turn your gaze to Korea. The birthplace of the 10-step skincare routine, BB cushions, sheet masks, facial essenceswe could keep on going really. Amongst one of the early few in the other end of the world who were in the know of Koreas unmatched beauty innovations were Glow Recipes founders Christie Chang and Sarah Lee.
The ex-colleagues, who were both working at LOréal in Korea, initially launched Glow Recipe in 2014 as an online destination to curate the best of K-beauty for skincare fiends halfway across the globe. It wasnt until three years ago when the duo launched their own namesake skincare range Glow Recipe Skincare. Almost immediately catapulted to cult status, the brands Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask was an instantaneous hit, selling out everywhere. Some have even dubbed it a Korean facial in a jar.

What Are Some Alternatives To Glow Recipe Skin Care
Overall, we like that Glow Recipe Skin Care combines fun fruit extracts with some of the best ingredients in skin care, like hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, retinol, and more. We noticed that the brand only has one cleanser, the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser, which uses surfactants to clean the skin and AHAs to exfoliate. But keep in mind that as we age, our skins natural shedding process slows down. Excess dead cells build up on the outermost layer of the skin, resulting in a rough, dull complexion. All of this is to say you may need more than just AHAs to achieve deep exfoliation. Thats why wed like to recommend Formulysts Retexturizing Microdermabrasion Exfoliator.
The Retexturizing Microdermabrasion Exfoliator is formulated to gently exfoliate built-up layers of dead skin to expose the younger, more vibrant-looking skin beneath. The formula contains fine aluminum oxide crystals to effectively remove dirt, excess oil, and dead cells, while nutrient-rich jojoba oil, red tea extract, apricot kernel oil, squalane, and hyaluronic acid deeply nourish and soothe newly exposed skin. Also, by removing the dead surface skin cells, products can penetrate deeper and make-up goes on smoother, enhancing the efficacy of your overall skin care routine. Overall, Formulyst Retexturizing Microdermabrasion Exfoliator can help reveal smoother skin with less visible lines and wrinkles.
OUR TOP SKINCARE PICKS
The Feel: Lightweight And Dewy
My first impression: the serum has a silky gel-like texture, thanks to the plant-based silk protein that glides on smoothly and absorbs quickly. A little goes a long way. I tested a dime-sized amount on the back of my usually dry hands , and they felt hydrated and soft, like I just applied hand cream. Following my usual skincare routine, I gently patted two pumps of the serum into my skin. The feel was comparable to post-sheet mask skinyou know, where your skin feels so dewy, smooth, and hydrated following a sheet mask you feel like you could skip a moisturizer. It’s dripping with hydration. I, of course, followed up with a moisturizer but skipped the usual final step of my routine, which is adding squalane or another hydrating oil because it just didnt feel like my skin needed it. It also smelled fresh, juicy, and fruity from the plum ingredients.

Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm Review
Conventional makeup removers can sometimes be a hassle. There are times where it doesnt do an adequate job of removing your makeup, or can leave your skin feeling dull and dry.
The Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm does neither. This remover is effective in dissolving makeup and dirt with its balm-to-milky oil. It harnesses the natural enzymes of papaya to gently cleanse the skin, leaving it soft and baby smooth.
This Glow Recipe papaya balm is inspired by the Korean beauty 1:1 method, which uses massage skincare products for a full minute in each step. This ensures that the skin is thoroughly cleansed and moisturized.
The papaya-based balm is ophthalmologist tested, safe for sensitive eyes, skin, and contact lens wearers. For a 100ml container, you can make the Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm part of your daily skincare routine for just $32.
How I Used It
I use this serum once or twice a day.
According to the directions, 1-2 pumps should be applied to clean skin, morning and night.
I combined this product with the Plum Plump for the first 2 weeks. Once I ran out of Plum Plump, I combined it with another hyaluronic acid serum.
The product absorbs very quickly making it difficult to spread everywhere before it is gone. Combining it with the hyaluronic acid helps to distribute it more evenly.
The only issue that I have is that I personally do not care for the scent and I do have some small clumps or gelling up of the product.
Full disclosure: During the 3-4 weeks that I have been testing this product, I also used Kiehls Vitamin C Eye Serum, Neostrata Triple Firming Neck Cream, First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer, and The Ordinary Rose Hip Seed Oil.

Watermelon Glow Pha+bha Pore
While a little thicker and goopier compared to most toners, this leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated. After having used it for two months, we also noticed blurred pores. Like the pineapple bright serum, the deliberately irregularly shaped glass bottle might lead you to think that youre getting more product than the 150ml you actually get.

Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask
Repeatedly lauded as Glow Recipes best product, the expectations were set high. Is it the best eye cream Ive ever tried? The short answer: no. As a mask, this works well for nighttime wear, but not so much for daytime wear under your makeup as the consistency is a little thick. The instructions recommend that you wash it off, another minus, because who has the time. When applied, it doesnt instantly rejuvenate the under-eye area compared to eye creams like, say, Caudalies VineActiv Energising and Smoothing Eye Cream or Chanels Le Lift Flash Eye Revitaliser. But, to give credit where credit is due, this is a very moisturising eye mask and it does keep the dark circles at bay, though not so much the puffiness.
The Results: Feeling Glowy
Within a couple of days of use, the results didnt look drastic, but they felt that way. My skin looked and felt hydrated long after applicationa rarity. Seriously, Ive gone through tons of moisturizers before landing on the one I use now and its still not as instantly hydrating as this. It easily absorbs into skin leaving a glowing result behind.
“For even deeper hydration, layer the serum twice. Follow up by applying Pineapple-C Bright Serum to achieve maximum potency. Next, blend vitamin C and hyaluronic acid together andvoilà!supple, radiant skin,” Glow Recipe recommends.

Overview Of Glow Recipe
Glow Recipe was envisioned over a girls night of sheet masks and wine between founders Christine Chang and Sarah Lee. They decided to take a chance and try to pitch their business idea to Shark Tank, with hopes of kick-starting their new skincare company. Christine and Sarah, both marketers for LOreal Korea, already had knowledge and experience under their belts within the industry.
After a video audition, Christine and Sarah were featured in the Shark Tank Glow Recipe episode, where they were brought into the famous Shark Tank studio room to sell their idea to five intimidating looking sharks.
Christine and Sarah were offered a deal a $425,000 investment from Robert Herjavec. The Glow Recipe founders decided to turn down the investment but continue credit Shark Tank for helping them lift their business off the ground.
We have no idea what Shark Tank will mean for our business but we want to promise our customers that we will do everything in our power to ensure that we continue to provide you with an enjoyable, seamless experience and best-in-class customer service, Christine and Sarah said in regards to the Glow Recipe Shark Tank episode via The Glow Edit blog.
Glow Recipe continued to grow, as the brand became a bestseller at Sephora, and as they launched their Pink Juice Moisturizer, which sold out in the first 2 hours of their pre-sale. They also created their sister brand, Sweet Chef, which sells vitamins and health-related products targeted towards skincare.
