You dont have to bake the mac and cheese in this recipe. Everything gets fully cooked and is essentially ready to eat after the cheese and noodles are added. However, I love the extra gooeyness that comes when the cheese is baked and I think baking it adds a level of sophistication you just dont get without.

|12 ounces Velveeta, cut into small cubes|
|2 cups shredded smoked cheddar cheese, divided|

|2/3 cup half-and-half cream|

Black Truffle And Comt Mac And Cheese
Looking to switch things up from the mac and cheese you were making as a student? Yet this unconventional one-pot approach also happens to be one of the simplest ways to prepare mac and cheese. Starchy pasta cooking water mingles with melted cheese to create a creamy, gooey sauce that still feels light. Black Périgord truffles and Comté cheese are a natural pairing. Simply gorgeous and decadent.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. With the butter, grease two 4-in. round or square baking pans or ramekins.
Add the milk, garlic, ground mustard, nutmeg, smoked paprika, pepperoncino, salt, and pepper to a blender. Blend to combine.
Stir together the grated Comté with the seasoned milk mixture and macaroni in a large bowl.
Divide among the buttered baking pans, cover each with foil, and bake until the pasta is tender, about 25 mins. Remove the foil.
Divide the black truffles, and truffle oil between the baking pans and gently stir to evenly mix the ingredients.
Return the pans to the oven and bake until a golden color, about 20 mins.

This is your classic mac and cheese there are no surprises here and theres no fuss at all. Its simple, its quick, and its completely made from scratch.
Its perfectly cheesy without being too gummy, and the crunchy tops are just to die for before you get into that creamy heaven underneath.
You can of course choose to bake these in individual ramekins to avoid any kind of sharing or you can dump the entire mixture into a 2-qt baking dish.
Either works. Its just that sharing can be a bit difficult on this one.

- Baking macaroni and cheese is optional. I always bake my mac and cheese further as it tastes so good. But if you dont have an oven or the time, then just mix and serve.
- Do top with breadcrumbs when baking as they add a lovely crispy and crunchy layer.
- Feel free to add seasonings, herbs and spices of your choice. I keep it simple with crushed black pepper and a bit of ground nutmeg. A dash of mustard powder also perks up the flavor.

- Bacon if you love bacon, feel free to add some crispy, crumbled bacon to the topping, or even inside the mac and cheese as well!
- Stovetop if youd prefer not to bake this mac and cheese, you dont have to! Make sure you boil your pasta until al dente , and youll only need about 3 3 1/2 cups of cheese total. No need to layer the pasta and cheese, just add all the cheese to the sauce, then combine with the pasta.
- Different Toppings Im a huge fan of the cheese layer on top, since it gets nice and crispy, but we also love tossing 1 cup of panko with 2 Tbsp of melted butter and using that as a topping. 1 cup of crushed Ritz crackers with 2 Tbsp of butter work amazingly well too!
- Different Baking Times the recipe calls for a lower baking temperature and time, but most of the time I find myself adjusting that based on my familys tastes. I like to bake this mac and cheese at 350 F degrees for 30 minutes, then broil for 2-3 minutes to get that glorious cheesy crust.

Baked mac and cheese. Its nearly the universal comfort food, and there are SO many variations! In fact, I almost didnt post this recipe, as there are SOOOO many mac and cheese recipes available, and most people already have their favorite way of making it.
Of course, theres no right way or wrong way, so Im here sharing the way I like to make my mac and cheese .
How To Make Gluten Free Mac And Cheese
You have your handful of ingredients, now heres how to make this delicious and creamy stovetop mac and cheese in under 25 minutes!
Cook the Pasta: First, boil the macaroni al dente according to the package instructions.
Make the Cheese Sauce: This sauce takes so little time to prepare, I usually have it ready before the noodles cook! To make the sauce, whisk together the milk, cornstarch, dry mustard, and salt, and simmer the mixture in a saucepan. Lower the heat and add in the cheddar a little at a time. Make sure to give it a good stir!
