Whey Protein Bar Recipe/ No Bake

Any chilled coffee will work in this recipe! So pick your favorite coffee. I actually created this recipe with room temp coffee from my morning pot of coffee, but now that I use a Keurig for single brew I often will just toss in cold brew or unsweetened iced coffee from the jug.

BTW, I LOVE Starbucks Blonde Roast and that I can buy this at the grocery for a fraction of what it would cost me if I were to go to Starbucks for an iced coffee.

The only trick to breakfast perfection is to add the water slowly since various powders have different absorbencies, you’ll want to be careful not to add too much water.

It’s probably the addition of chocolate-flavored protein powder that makes these gluten-free waffles such a delightful, crowd-pleasing option.

After you whip up the waffles, combine frozen bananas and vanilla extract to make the “ice cream.” Then, layer it between two waffles. The waffle sandwiches can be frozen to eat later, or you can enjoy them right away.

Vanilla whey protein shakes can help you get an extra dose of protein when at the gym or when you don’t have time for a meal. Unfortunately, depending on the brand of vanilla whey protein shake you choose, the flavor may leave much to be desired. Luckily, you can add a number of things to your protein shake to improve the taste, and they’re likely things you already have. Similarly, the way you prepare your shake may have something to do with its bad taste, and you can change the preparation method for something more pleasant.

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Protein Cookiesan Easy Healthy Treat

These cookies are soft, chewy, and taste reminiscent of an old-fashioned peanut butter cookie.

Theyre sweet enough for dessert but wholesome enough to qualify as an acceptable post-workout snack. I couldnt choose which occasion I preferred them for more, so I opted for both.

  • In addition to the peanut butter and eggs, the majority of the protein in these cookies comes from the use of whey protein. I use this brand of vanilla whey protein powder.
  • If you are in the market for a chocolate protein cookies recipe, I think these cookies would be delicious made with chocolate protein powder too.
  • I havent tried a plant-based protein powder yet, but a few readers have reported that pea protein powders have yielded delicious results. If you decide to play around with the recipe and test it out, Id love to hear how it goes!

These Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Cookies are naturally gluten free, as the whey protein and coconut flour replace the wheat flour.

If youve never purchased whey protein powder and arent looking to , you can check out my original Protein Cookies, which are made with peanut butter, quinoa, and banana.

They are more reminiscent of a healthy muffin-like cookie than an ooey-gooey peanut butter cookie but are still a yummy, relatively high-protein option.

Meal Prepping Protein Shakes

Because the protein powder will lose its consistency after being blended, it’s recommended that you do not blend these up ahead of time but rather meal prep the ingredients to pour into the blender. I’ll usually store my add-ins with almond milk in mason jars in the fridge and then add my protein powder at the last minute before blending.

You can use an individual-sized blender to whip these up such as a Magic Bullet instead of using a full-sized blender to save time on clean up too!

How To Make This Green Protein Smoothie

Because this green smoothie is so easy to make, its important that you use all the right ingredients. For this healthy smoothie recipe, I used 1 small ripe banana, some unsweetened almond milk, 1 cup of baby spinach, 1 serving of vanilla protein powder, and some ice. Toss all that into a blender and pulse to combine until all ingredients are roughly chopped. Then, puree the smoothie until the spinach is completely blended into the drink.

If you prefer thicker smoothies, use a frozen banana and add in more ice. For thinner smoothies, use less ice and/or a little more almond milk. You can also use unsweetened vanilla almond milk to really amp up the vanilla flavor.

Vanilla Protein Shake Ingredients

Before we get to the recipe, lets discuss ingredients. To make this vanilla protein smoothie, you will need:

  • Protein Powder: This majorly boosts the protein content of your smoothie. If you can, use a natural and organic protein powder that contains no additives, fillers, artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. I love and use this one from Thrive Market.
  • Milk: This serves as the liquid base for the smoothie. I usually use low-fat dairy milk.
  • Vanilla extract: This infuses the smoothie with warm, sweet vanilla flavor. Make sure you use the real, natural stuff and not anything artificial.
  • Banana: This gives your smoothie a rich and creamy consistency. It is also a great source of potassium and dietary fiber.
  • Honey: This adds natural and unrefined sweetness. Not all packaged honey is created equal, so I recommend using one that is 100% pure, raw, and unfiltered for optimal health benefits. I use this one from Thrive Market.
  • Ice: This helps thicken the shake. Although, if I dont have any ice in the freezer, I just make my protein shake without it.

The ingredients Ive linked to above can be ordered from Thrive Market, which is an impressive online store that sells healthy, organic food and natural products at 25-50% below retail prices. I like to think of it like Amazon meets Costco meets Whole Foods .

Beginner Tips For Baking With Protein Powder

Peanutbutter Protein Shake 230 calories

When baking with protein powder, there are a few things to keep in mind to make your desserts turn out as rich and delicious as the less healthy versions. For example, using protein powder as a substitute for flour in a recipe can work great, but too much protein powder could cause your baked goods to come out a little tough.

Some recipes will turn out better with more added protein than others, so sometimes a little trial and error is in order. Generally speaking, you don’t want to substitute more than a third of the flour in a recipe. Recipes should include moisture and fats to prevent the treat from drying out.

While most of these recipes use whey protein, many protein powder recipes can substitute for plant-based or vegan protein powder instead. Likewise, it is a matter of experimentation and determining what proteins meet your tastes and nutritional needs.

Add more protein to your diet by trying one of these convenient ways to bake with protein powder.

Coconut Silver Dollar Protein Pancakes

Coconut flour along with coconut milk help give these gluten-free silver dollar pancakes a tropical taste. The recipe also calls for vanilla-flavored pea protein, which results in the same gains in muscle thickness as whey protein, according to a January 2015 article in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition.

That’s good news for people who follow a plant-based diet or avoid whey due to allergies.

Quest Vanilla Ice Cream Whey Smoothies!

After youve creamed the butter and Swerve together, simply add the remaining ingredients and pulse in the food processor until you can form a dough. Kind of like my Greek yogurt biscuits recipe, you dont want to pulverize the dough or you might have tough cookies.

Some crumbles are fine, and you can bring the dough together with your hands.

Can I use a different protein powder?

The recipe calls for PEScience Select, which is a blend of whey and casein protein powder. This blend makes it much thicker in consistency and hard to match with whey-only protein powder.

While you may be able to make substitutions in larger recipes like my Oreo protein cake or in no bake recipes like my pumpkin pie protein cheesecake, Id highly encourage you to stick to the script for protein cookies.

You can buy as little as a single serving or 5-scoop serving of PEScience Select on their website. And if you decide to pick up a larger tub, you can use my affiliate discount code mason to save 15%.

Can I substitute almond flour for all purpose flour?

Similar to protein powder, small batch cookies are tricky. Since youll need to handle the dough to form your protein sugar cookies, almond flour will likely require more flour to make that possible.

If you need a gluten free option, others have used Bobs Red Mill GF 1:1 flour successfully in the biscuits recipe I mentioned above. Though I havent tested in it cookies.
