I was shocked to find that normal breakfast items can be made even without eggs, dairy, and grain without having to eat leftover meat each morning.

Egg Substitutes: Bind Your Desserts And Make Them Rise Allergen

Eggs are a near-perfect food. But not if you have an egg allergy!

Unfortunately, commercial egg replacers contain soy protein and wheat gluten- two highly processed, allergenic ingredients that cause digestive discomfort for many people.

But there are natural, unprocessed allergen-free ingredients that can be used to replace eggs and theyre probably in your pantry right now!

Before attempting an egg substitute, you need to determine the function eggs have in your recipe. Eggs can bind, leaven or moisturize. If a recipe contains only one egg, but a fair amount of baking powder or baking soda, then the egg is serving as the binder. This is an easy replacement that can be achieved with almost any of the substitutes listed below.

But if a recipe contains many eggs like a soufflé eggs are acting as the leavener and the binder. And the substitution will be a flop.

As a general rule, the fewer eggs a recipe calls for, the easier they will be to substitute.

    • 2 tbsp cornstarch = 1 egg
    • 2 Tbsp. arrowroot flour = 1 egg
    • 2 Tbsp. potato starch = 1 egg
    • 1 mashed banana = 1 egg
    • 1 Tbsp. milled flax seed + 3 Tbsp. water = 1 egg
    • ¼ cup unsweetened apple sauce = 1 egg
    • ¼ cup organic plain yogurt, whipped = 1 egg
    • 2 Tbsp. water + 1 Tbsp. oil + 1 tsp. baking powder. Mix well. = 1 egg
    • 1 tbsp agar agar powder + 1 tbsp water. Whip together. Chill. Whip it again. = 1 egg white
    • ¼ cup cooked pumpkin or winter squash = 1 egg
    • 1/4 tsp. xanthan gum + 1/4 cup of water. Let stand, then whip. 1 egg white

The great part about making this savory breakfast casserole is that everything can be done in one pan. Just start cooking everything on the stove top, and then finish it off as a baked casserole.

Garlic Spaghetti We looooooooooooove garlic over here, so this is always a favorite. Garlic spaghetti is a great meal to make when you dont have much else in the pantry! It just requires garlic, olive oil, and gluten free pasta.

Chicken Tacos Tacos of any kind are always a hit at our house. I like to make my own seasoning as well that way I can adjust the spice level as needed for little ones.

Slow Cooker Salsa Verde Pork with Cilantro Rice This dish is made in the slow cooker which results in very tender and flavorful meat. It reminds me of the pork from Qdoba. We love it with cilantro rice, but it would also be great in tacos or burritos. This slow cooker pork would also be delicious served with mashed potatoes and gluten free gravy.

Creamy Spinach Walnut Pesto This bright green creamy pesto sauce is very easy to whip up in the blender or food processor. Healthy Flours For Healthy Baking: Better For Blood Sugar& Gluten Free Too

The first step in making healthier baked goods is to take a close look at the flour you use. Many bakers now choose whole grain flours over refined white flours. However, whole grain flours are still very high in carbohydrates and score high on the glycemic index.

And when it comes to your health, thats a really bad thing. High glycemic foods cause your blood sugar to spike, raising insulin levels. Your blood sugar is directly linked to nearly every chronic disease including diabetes, cancer, heart disease, metabolic syndrome, obesity, macular degeneration, PCOS and many more.

And because insulin is the fat-storage hormone, eating high glycemic foods promote weight gain too.

If you want to avoid that muffin top then stay away from grain based flours.

And heres another reason to avoid traditional flours: Most are made from wheat and contain gluten an allergenic protein that causes health issues for many people.

Savory Gluten & Dairy Free Avocado Toast With Sardines

This is one of my favorite sugar free savory breakfast recipe that is really quick to make.

This savory breakfast its really satisfying for those days when you have salty cravings. The rich fatty flavor and texture of this avocado toast helps cut down on the fishy notes of the sardine, turning this simple gluten free dairy free breakfast into something very delicious and filling!

For this I used agluten free sourdough bread bunthat I previously made. I keep them in the freezer and in the morning, I just throw a few buns in the toaster, slice or mush some avocado, and top them with caned wild caught sardines.

I like those sardines because the fish is cleaned and deboned, theyre in olive oil, not soy, plus theyre wild caught, not farmed. Farmed fish are usually genetically modified and fed with chemicals.

The best part about sardines is that they are also one of the most nutritious fishes in the sea. They have one of the most concentrated sources of omega-3 fatty acids plus theyre a great source of vitamin D, and vitamin B12.

Why Does Every Breakfast Item Contain Eggs Dairy Or Grain

Low Carb Cream Puffs (Profiteroles) Recipe – Gluten Free, Grain Free, Dairy Free and Sugar Free

Its a big bummer if you grew up eating yogurt, toast, cereal, and eggs and now you have food allergies. I remember how long it took to first break the habit. Then there was an emotional connection to break. Breakfast smells and the taste of sweet yogurt and fruit, or the ice cold milk and the crunchy cereal. It just felt right to start the day like that. Then there was the psychological part of it. I would look in disgust at vegetables or meats early in the morning. I could not even smell them. Little did I know that is exactly what I would be eating a year from then! I thought it was all or nothing and had no idea grain free cinnamon cereal or dairy free chocolate milk shakes or blueberry pudding even existed.

    Why Follow A Dairy

    Well, let me explain.

You see, we all have consumed grains, dairy, legumes, and meat in our lifetime, yes? Yes! I eat them all. Gluten-free grains of course.

But heres the thing. As I sit here typing up this post, I can tell my brain and body need a little calming down. Its been on the crazy cycle for oh weeks now! YIKES! Yes, stress can really take a toll on ones health and deplete you of important key MINERALS.

You know what else it can do? It can cause that oxidative stress to rise and if we are under chronic stress , the physical and mental kind, then our immune system is going to have a hard time responding. It will try to react and recover but doesnt have the necessary nutrients in order to do so. Hey, its pretty tired of trying to fight, ya know? Hence the continuous inflammation of the body and brain. Sad, but true.

On the other hand, a little stress and a little inflammation can be good for the body. If you are healthy, managing stress, and moving the body daily, then your body will easily recover from that acute stress and build it up stronger.

Unfortunately, for many of us, we get stuck in the chronic stress cycle. Am I right? Raising hand! Which is why I thought it was about time we make another anti-inflammatory meal plan. Our first anti-inflammatory meal plan focused on grain-free and gluten-free recipes. This plan focuses on gluten-free and dairy-free.

    Easter Carrot Cake Cupcakes

Ive been a little obsessed with cupcakes and muffins lately! Since it was Easter and carrot cake is the obvious choice, I decided to go for it! The thing is with carrot cake, I like all the options! The pineapple, raisins and walnuts- I need all three! What I couldnt decide, was if I liked this carrot cake with coconut sugar or the maple syrup as the sweetener. Not only does it create a slightly different flavor, it lends to a different cake texture. So, I made both! And I took votes from my Easter guests all of whom are non-paleo! The winner, as per all the dinner guests votes:

    Cupcakes

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare muffin pan for 12 muffins

  • Melt coconut oil and set aside. *add this at end of batter or it will harden and clump*

  • In a small bowl, mix all dry ingredients , Either sift or use a whisk to make sure all clumps have been broken down.

  • In a mixing bowl, beat eggs and maple syrup, lemon juice and vanilla until well combined. Add in dry ingredients and mix briefly. Add in coconut oil and mix briefly. Fold in shredded carrots, pinneapple, walnuts and raisins until incorporated.

  • Fill muffin cups to top, but do not overfill, they will rise slightly.

  • Bake for 22-24 minutes or until done in center.

  • Remove from oven and cool in pan until can be transferred to wire rack to cool completely.

  • Frosting

  • Add salt to coconut oil, so it can start to dissolve. Measure out all ingredients.

  • Enjoy!
