A river flows about 300 yards from my house. I cant see it. Sometimes, after a big rain, I can hear the creek that runs behind my house which feeds into the big river.

Over the years I have noticed that sometimes the river has very little water and the rocks on the bottom are poking up through the surface.

At times, I have seen the river so full that it is nearly coming over the road and is many feet deep.

Ill admit that Ive been scared for the river during each of these extremes.

At all times of the year that river flows on heading towards the ocean, never ceasing.

I feel like that river sometimes, strong, angry and rushing into the next things or weak and small where every part of my inner thoughts are poking through my skin.

Im thankful that no matter my own condition, God is there, giving me a framework to lean on.

Ill just add one thing to this. This is a POWERFUL passage that has great meaning to us today. I recommend that you read starting at Isaiah 58:1 and continue on down the page.

Back in my fitness competition days where boiled fish was the norm I had to get creative with low-calorie sauces and flavor enhancers. These are just a few that went a lot way to make healthy food, delicious food.

  • Salsa – there are so few calories in salsa that its almost not worth tracking.
  • Mustard – believe it or not, you can make some pretty interesting dressings and sauces with a mustard base. Just add a little lemon juice, garlic and a dash of olive oil and youve got a great dressing for fish. If you want a creamy dressing try mixing mustard and greek yogurt with a few spices for an interesting treat.
  • Lime or lemon juice – Freshly squeezed juice on a salad or baked sweet potato with fish brings out the flavor of the food without adding any additional calories.

How To Make Vegan Ranch Dressing

FLAVOR GOD

Raw cashews are the perfect base because theyre very neutral in flavor. And, they blend really well to create an amazing super creamy texture.

  • Soak cashews in water for 2-4 hours or boil for 5-10 minutes.
  • Just before you are ready to drain the cashews, about 5 minutes, add the apple cider vinegar and lemon juice to the milk mix really well. Allow it to sit for just a couple of minutes. Youâre essentially making vegan buttermilk. This step is not essentially necessary, but I feel it does enhance the overall flavor.
  • Drain cashews and add to your blender with almond milk, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, nutritional yeast and salt. Blend until everything is smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides of the blender as needed.
  • Pour mixture into a small bowl and add the dried dill and parsely. Mix until everything is well combined.
  • Serve on top of your salad, sandwich, or use as a dip for a veggie tray.
  • You can enjoy this immediately. But, I like to put mine in the fridge and let it sit for a couple of hours. It thickens and the flavors have time to really sit together.

    When I was a kid, ranch was one of my favorite flavors. Ranch dressing was always the magical thing you dipped all of the finger foods into. Chicken strips, cut celery, carrot sticks, you name it.
