Whats The Best Way To Chill Coffee Without Watering It Down
The very best way to chill your coffee is time and a fridge, but you can also hack it by thinking ahead and making coffee ice cubes from your last batch of brew. Just pour the coffee into an ice cube tray, and then pop in the freezer. Keep the cubes on hand for when you need to cool down freshly brewed coffee in a jiffy!

For Cold Brew Youll Need A Coarse Grind Which Allows For A Slow Transfer Of Extraction And Avoids The Cold Brew Becoming Bitter
Grinding too fine will over extract leading to a harsh and bitter result. Too large of a grind and the brew is underdeveloped and weak.
- The OXO Conical Burr Grinder makes this part of the equation so easy, and fast. It basically has the brain of a barista so you dont have to think, integrated into one machine. First youll twist the dial to the grind size you need it it does everything from espresso fine to very coarse. Then, with a built in scale, all you need to do is simply know how much coffee you want to grind, set the dial to that number, and grind. The machine will automatically stop when that amount of coffee is in the canister.
3. Brewing System: The one negative to making cold brew is that it can get kind of messy, having to find a contraption large enough soak the grounds in, draining it, and then cleaning it out. The other important piece is gently saturating the grounds, rather than pouring all the water on them at once.
- OXO makes this Cold Brew Coffee Maker that I found incredibly efficient and well designed. Similar to the burr grinder, it makes the process effortless. Just add grounds and water to the top, then steep overnight. The result? Coffee concentrate at the flip of a switch. The Rainmaker evenly distributes water over the grounds. It strains into the sleek glass carafe which has measurement markings for portioning, and can be easily stored in your fridge. Plus, the filter is stainless steel so can be used over and over again!

Now youve made an amazing mocha flavored sugar syrup. Its best to transfer the syrup into a small container or resealable flask for easy access.

For some pro tips, consider freezing coffee instead of ice cubes and using them instead. Pouring milk over ice coffee cubes can make for a perfect summer drink that only gets better as it sits.
Starbucks uses their own espresso for these coffee recipes, so you can either buy their brand or choose your own. The real secret to perfecting the taste at home is using quality cocoa-based syrup that has a bittersweet mocha flavor rather than overwhelmingly sugary chocolate taste.
As with any drink, you can always scale up your milk and syrup by a few ounces to compensate for a larger cup. For example, a grande Starbucks iced mocha recipe is 16 ounces and prepared with 2 shots of espresso, 2-percent milk and four pumps of their signature mocha syrup.

How To Make Iced Mochas
I have two different but super simple methods for making your iced mocha, depending on what ingredient you have at home.
If you have chocolate syrup, simply mix it with your milk and coffee then top with ice and drink away.
If you dont have chocolate syrup, no worries because mochas we will still drink. The chocolate chip method takes an extra step but only adds a few minutes to the process.
Add the milk and chocolate chips to a small saucepan. Over medium-low heat, stir until the chocolate is melted and well incorporated into the milk.
Stir the chocolatey milk into your coffee and top with lots of ice.
How Many Calories Are In An Iced Mocha
The number of calories in an iced mocha is 153. This number is made up of the different components of the coffee drink. The biggest number of calories is from the milk added.
Down below, Ive broken down the calories for each ingredient. This way, you can have a look and see if you want to switch out an ingredient for a healthier version:
- The amount of whole milk used in this recipe is good for 73 calories.
- The homemade chocolate sauce is good for 28 calories.
- Adding whipped cream will add 52 calories per serving.
As you can see, whole milk makes up for a big part of the calories in the iced coffee. If you want a lower-calorie drink, I suggest using a milk alternative instead.
Milk alternatives are a great way to flavor your iced coffee differently and have much fewer calories than dairy.
If youre using store-bought chocolate sauce, you can have a look at the nutritional information on the bottle, and you can retract the number of calories Ive mentioned before from the total.
