Tips And Tricks To Make This Healthy Green Goddess Dressing

  • Use a high-speed blender to get the best consistency for this dressing. Otherwise, youll have small gritty bits of cashews and herbs.
  • Store it in the fridge for up to 5 days and if it separates a little, give it a good stir. Add a touch of water if it has thickened.
  • Use whatever herbs you have on hand that equal 1 ½ cups in this recipe. Others to try are coriander , chives, chervil, dill and tarragon.
  • If youre nut-free, you can try using sunflower or hemp seeds in place of cashews. Alternatively, you can try tahini instead. I personally havent tried any of these options.
  • You can switch out the lemon juice for lime juice if that is all you have on hand. It will get you similar results.
  • Im based in Australia, so my measuring spoons are unfortunately slightly different to the ones that you get in the US. Please keep that in mind when making my recipes.

  • It’s absolutely, out of this world, crazy delicious.
  • Unlike most green goddess dressings out there, this one has no mayo or dairy. There’s nothing but good for you, healthy ingredients here.
  • It’s versatile. When I’m not eating it by the spoonful or drizzling it over a salad, I spoon it onto fish, dip chicken or tofu in it and have even spread it on a sandwich.

    Oh, how the ways are endless! Honestly, this is one of those dressings you just cant help eating with a spoon. Its so delicious! But in all seriousness, this dressing is great as a dip with a bunch of fresh-cut veggies. Or it works well on a salad! It is on the thicker side though, so you want to make sure your salad greens will hold onto it well. Romaine or other hearty and crisp salads greens taste delicious with this.

    Vegan Green Goddess Dressing Ingredients

    The original chef made his goddess dressing with a mayo base, garlic, tarragon, parsley, chives, and scallions. Ive used all four of those lovely herbs here, and I sometimes add basil too if I have it on hand. The mixture of herbs makes this vegan green goddess dressing positively verdant and brimming with so much bright flavor that you really cant tell theres tofu in there.

    Ive heard rumors you can make goddess dressing thats made of avocado or tahini as the base, instead of tofu. I suppose cashews would also work. But Im here to assure you that if one of those things tasted better than tofu, Id use it. Something about the lightness of the tofu is just perfect for this herb-forward dressing.

    The Creamy Dressing That Goes With Everything

    I mean, its the perfect addition to nearly any meal. Trust me. Ive tried them all. From being drizzled over Nourish Bowls, used as a sauce on stir frys, or used as a dip for sweet potato fries, you really cant go wrong. I cant take all the credit for this incredible dressing, though. The truth is, it was inspired by an old college favorite!

    Back in the good old days, my friends and I would frequent a restaurant known as Mothers Cafe. Maybe youve heard of it? They were known for serving peasant bowls, as they called them.     First, scoop the flesh of the avocado into a food processor or blender. You want two small avocados which will be about 1 cup packed flesh.

    What Herbs Work Well

    This dressing is pretty flexible and forgiving with what herbs you add in, and in what quantities. The recipe calls for about 1 cup of packed fresh herbs. What you actually add in is up to you. The dressing is much better when there is a variety, so try to add in at least two to three different herbs. What you add in can depend on what you have on hand, and of course what you like! Here are our recommendations:

    Youll notice tarragon is called for in addition to the one cup of fresh herbs. That is because tarragon a pretty classic flavor for this dressing so we wanted to make sure it was included. But we also didnt want anyone to add in too much because the flavor can go from delightful to overwhelming really quick. That is why we left it as a stand-alone ingredient with a specific amount.
