Having super-soft skin not only feels good to the touch but is very good for you because of the healing benefits you get from removing the dead skin. Making your own homemade body scrub with sugar or sea salt is simple, and in addition to eliminating the high cost of commercial body scrubs, it provides your body with only the best ingredients.

My wife, Chelsea, and I love this scrub in which we include both sugar and salt! We use it a couple of times a week because it keeps our skin in tip-top shape, providing nutrients directly to the epidermis layer along with tons of moisturizing benefits.

Everything you need for your amazing homemade body scrub is easy to find and may be right at home. The mild abrasion found in the grainy-like textures of the sugar and the benefit-rich sea salt, along with the nutrients found in the all of the ingredients, will leave your skin supple and super-soft to the touch while giving it the extra moisturizing and glow your skin craves.

If youre dealing with keratosis pilaris, this scrub will help remove dead skin and unplug skin follicles. You will love this DIY recipe that provides a refreshing feeling all over your body.

About My Homemade Dead Sea Salt Face And Body Scrub Recipe

This homemade sea salt face and body scrub recipe is loosely inspired by Lushs Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub. Made using fine Dead Sea salt, this emulsified Dead Sea salt face and body scrub recipe has a creamy texture and is gentle enough for even sensitive skin. Ingredients like mango butter, fractionated coconut oil and lanolin help to condition and protect skin while dead sea helps to promote healing.

Want to make it vegan? Try substituting the lanolin which is found in Lushs Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub with cupuacu butter.

Because I wanted my Dead Sea salt face and body scrub recipe to work for even sensitive skin, I left this homemade face and body scrub recipe unscented. Therefore, the final product doesnt really have any kind of scent. However, you can always scent your face and body scrub recipe if desired using either your favorite fragrance oil or essential oils. To scent your homemade face and body scrub, I recommend using .05 oz. .1 oz. of fragrance oil or a maximum of .25 oz. if using essential oils.

As a bonus Ive included free printable labels for your finished face and body scrubs. You can find the PDF printable labels following my homemade sea salt face and body scrub recipe below.

A sea salt scrub is an easy and inexpensive way to maintain a glowing complexion. Salt scrubs work hard to exfoliate and remove dry skin from the surface, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pores, and improve the overall tone. Exfoliating scrubs are good for the entire body, especially dry areas like feet and hands. They are easy to make because they are a simple combination of salt and oil.

In addition to standard sea salt, adding Himalayan pink salt to a scrub recipe adds an extra boost of health because it contains 84 trace minerals and nutrients. Grapeseed oil, which can be found at natural grocery stores, is a good carrier oil for a scrub because it is extremely nourishing. Adding both almond and jojoba oils, and vitamin E into the mixture increases the scrubs moisturizing effect, making it especially good for dry skin.

Essential oils add fragrance and healing qualities to the scrub, and they can include such variations as:

12 drops lime essential oil, 8 drops orange essential oil

Rose salt scrub: 15 drops rose essential oil, sprinkle with dried rose petals

Citrus burst salt scrub: 5 drops orange essential oil, 10 drops grapefruit essential oil

Lavender vanilla salt scrub: 15 drops lavender essential oil, 5 drops vanilla essential oil

Salt Scrub Vs Sugar Scrub

A salt scrub is usually more abrasive and should only be used on the body or the feet and hands. However, for some skin types, salt is too rough to be used on the whole body. In this case, a sugar scrub would be a better option since its less abrasive. When it comes to using a scrub for your face, salt scrubs are not a good choice. Avoid using this kind of scrub on your face or any sensitive area.

Rosemary Lemon Salt Scrub

What Is Salt Scrub

Salt scrubs help our bodys natural ability to exfoliate due to the coarse nature of salt. By rubbing it on our skin in circular motions, we help slough off the build-up of dead skin cells.

Salt, in general, contains many minerals, but in particular, Epsom, Himalayan, and sea salt are good choices. These minerals plump up your skin and help with hydration.

Furthermore, salt scrubs detoxify the skin. Salt cleanses deeply and draws out impurities. The exfoliation process also stimulates the lymphatic system, which helps us by flushing out toxins.

Plus, salt scrubs will leave your skin soft and supple!

Of all the trendy beauty treatments you can make at home, DIY salt and sugar scrubs are arguably the easiest and the most effective. While conventional scrubs often use polluting plastic microbeads and harsh synthetic chemicals for exfoliation, homemade alternatives use only natural ingredients. And who doesn’t already have salt and sugar on hand?

Salt is a natural antibacterial that creates mild abrasive friction when rubbed against skin. That friction strips the skin of dead cells and helps boost circulation. On the other hand, sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, which breaks down the stuff that bonds skin cells together. Sugar is less abrasive than salt, and brown sugar is less abrasive than pure cane sugar. Raw sugar is the coarsest sugar of all. In most DIY recipes, you can use either sugar or salt.

Here are eight chemical-free salt and sugar scrub recipes using natural ingredients you probably already have at home.

How To Package Salt Scrubs

To package your salt glow scrubs, simply pour the foaming scrubs into the chosen containers. Once solidified, screw on the lids.

You may then decorate your jars for this DIY skin care product by wrapping a lovely strip of washi tape around your jars. Then add a cute Handmade with Love sticker for the perfect presentation.

I purchased both the washi tape and stickers I used for this packaging this product from Cute Tape.

In general, I don’t recommend using a salt scrub on the the face.

A sugar scrub would be better for the more delicate skin areas of the face. Of course, if to are using a fine grain table salt and stay mindful to keep away from eyes it is certainly feasible. Make sure the scrub has plenty of nourishing oil to not leave the face dry.
