EASY MILK CHOCOLATE RECIPE HOW TO MAKE MILK CHOCOLATE AT HOME

If you wanted to make chocolate milk, you would probably add chocolate syrup or chocolate milk powder to a glass of milk and then stir. While everyone remembers Hersheys syrup and Nesquik powder from their childhood, you can make homemade chocolate milk with even more basic ingredients.

Although its very old fashioned, making chocolate milk with cocoa powder is a tried-and-true way to make a delicious drink.

How To Dissolve Cocoa Powder In Milk

To overcome this tendency, you have to:

  • Mix the cocoa powder into a warm liquid
  • Use a relatively small amount of liquid

Alternatively, you could also blend the milk, cocoa powder, and sugar together, but the finished product is still a bit gritty. If you want your homemade chocolate milk to be as smooth as possible, dissolving the cocoa powder in a bit of warm milk or wateralong with the sugar or other sweeteneris key.

Is Almond Milk Healthier Than Regular Milk

Raw cow’s milk is much more nutritious than almond milk. Where I live, it’s illegal to sell raw milk, and my husband and I just can’t handle the pasteurized stuff. That’s why we love to have a dairy free milk option whenever we want something to put in our granola or have a chocolate milk treat. It’s not nutrient-dense, but it’s homemade with clean ingredients.

What Is In Chocolate Almond Milk

teeny tiny foodie

Almonds – Not a lot of almond actually makes it into the milk, but almonds are high in fibre, protein, fat and some vitamins and minerals. When you make almond milk, you are always left with almond pulp, so if you use that in other things , you will consume the whole nut.

Water – We use filtered water from our Berkey water filter. It retains the beneficial minerals in the water and removes all the junk! I have a full review of it here.

Cocoa – Necessary for that beautiful chocolate flavor. Rich in polyphenols, antioxidants that are also found in some fruits and vegetables! These polyphenols may reduce blood pressure, reduce inflammation generally, improve heart health and blood flow to the brain.

Maple syrup – High in sugar, as we know, but we use as little added sugar as possible in this recipe to still yield a delicious result. You can also use more or less, depending on your preference. Maple syrup is natural and also contains a small number of vitamins and minerals.

Sea salt and vanilla – To round out the flavors.

Dissolve Cocoa Powder In Milk

As explained previously, dissolving cocoa powder in milk is a bit tricky. The key is to heat up a small amount of milk to dissolve the dry powders. I used a microwave since its the easiest way to make this recipe, but you could use the stove as well.

Although you do not have to heat up the milk before adding the cocoa powder or sugar, I suggest heating the milk for 15 seconds before adding the dry ingredients, putting the glass back into the microwave for another 15 seconds, then stirring. By adding the dry ingredients to slightly warm milk, it will be a bit easier to dissolve them.

However, if you forget to warm up the milk and add the unsweetened cocoa powder and sugar to cold milk, just put the glass into the microwave for 15 seconds, stir, heat for another 15 seconds, then stir againits not ideal, but it wont ruin the recipe.

This is a loaded question, really. Chocolate milk has the same benefits of unsweetened milk, including calcium, vitamin D, and potassium . Amazing Chocolate Milk Cake

There are few things in life better than a perfectly moist chocolate cake, its true. But this particular chocolate cake tops the list. It has all the things you look for in a chocolate cake: a moist crumb, a supreme chocolatey flavor, yet it tastes like no other chocolate cake youve ever had. Why is that? Because it tastes JUST like chocolate milk! We cant even believe how truly amazing it is. You can forget milk chocolate. chocolate milk is where its at.

One sip of cool, velvety chocolate milk brings us back to childhood, and one bite of this delicious cake does the very same. Its as if weve taken the essence of that popular drink and transformed it into cake. Everyone we served this to absolutely loved it and immediately wanted the recipe. They couldnt believe how simple it was to make! So much flavor with so little effort, thats our kind of cake. Its seriously a cinch to mix up. The chocolate flavor here is still deep and rich, but its smoother and more well-rounded than youve had in other chocolate cakes. Weve gone off our rocker for it. And we even topped it with chocolate milk frosting. You guys, its heaven.

Weve tried our fair share of chocolate cakes and after a while, they all seem to run together. It can be hard to tell them apart, they all just taste. chocolatey. But this one, this one stands out from the rest. Its like nothing weve ever had before. We know you will absolutely love it, so go give it a try!

A Bit Of Vanilla / A Pinch Of Salt

Although I honestly think its a bit overkill since this recipe is great as-is, you might want to consider adding:

  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a small pinch of salt

Some other recipes online for homemade chocolate milk recommend adding these, so you might want to think about itbut like I said, I think the recipe is perfect with just 3 basic ingredients.

Can You Use A Different Sweetener

Yes, but because most keto sweeteners dont dissolve well, your options are fairly limited. Here is what you can use:

  • Powdered Monk Fruit Allulose Blend This is what I used in the recipe. The reason it works best is it dissolves just like regular sugar, and doesnt have an aftertaste or cooling effect.
  • Powdered Allulose This will work the same way as the above, but its less sweet, so youll need about 33% more of it. Refer to my keto sweetener guide for converting the amount.
  • Keto Simple Syrup Since this is already in liquid form, theres nothing to dissolve and it will work great.
  • Other Liquid Sweeteners You can get the recommended sweeteners at the links above, but if you cant get them in your country, you can also use another liquid sweetener, since these wont have the dissolving issue. Unfortunately, in my experience, most of these have an aftertaste.

I dont recommend most other granulated or powdered keto sweeteners, because they wont dissolve properly in the cold liquids.

What Can Be Made From Chocolate Syrup

Now that I have chocolate syrup in my fridge at all times, I’m realizing that it’s a great condiment to have on hand.

While I usually prefer to sweeten things with whole foods like dates and fruit, sometimes you just need some extra decadence.

Other than using this homemade chocolate syrup to make chocolate milk, I also love to:

  • drizzle it on desserts ,
  • add it to my smoothies,
  • drizzle it on on peanut butter toast,
  • dip fruit like strawberries and bananas into it, or
  • blend it into my iced coffee to make a delicious iced mocha.

You could even eat it with a spoon!

Really, can you ever run out of uses for chocolate syrup?

Are Chocolate Sauce And Chocolate Syrup The Same Thing

There are so many kinds of chocolate sauces on the market.

Some are called “sauce”, some are called “syrups”. Some go by “hot fudge”.

It gets confusing!

I would say that chocolate syrup is usually a runnier consistency and often doesn’t contain milk or dairy products.

Store-bought chocolate sauces and hot fudge sauces are often thicker in consistency and are made that way by the addition of cream or other dairy products.

However, you can easily make your own, homemade chocolate sauce or hot fudge sauce at home and omit the dairy.

My Homemade Chocolate Syrup was created originally to go alongside your favorite ice creams and top off all kinds or desserts. Store-bought syrups are sticky, thin, and often filled with artificial flavors and preservatives.

My homemade Chocolate Syrup is made of only water, good quality unsweetened cocoa powder, a bit of sugar, vanilla, and salt. After a quick simmer, all of these ingredients come together and create a thick and dark chocolaty syrup packed with so much more flavor and body than any other syrup you can buy.

Can You Make Chocolate Almond Milk Without Soaking

You can soak the nuts in boiling water for 30-60 minutes instead of soaking for 8+ hours. However, the result will not be as easily digestible or yield the same nutritional benefit that long soaking will provide.

Almonds contain phytic acid, an anti-nutrient that blocks the absorption of nutrients into your body. When you soak nuts for a total time of 8 or more hours in saltwater, the phytic acid breaks down, making the nuts more digestible and the nutrients more available to the body!

Frozen Chocolate Milk Seriously

I love finding light snacks to offer to the kids on summer afternoons and for when they come home from school. And because Im convinced that my children often confuse hunger for thirst , Ive been trying to offer thirst quenchers in lieu of food when it comes to their after-school snacks.

Our neighbourhood coffee shops offer frozen hot chocolates this time of the year, and while tasty and refreshing, they are also extremely pricey at almost five dollars a pop. This makes them more of a luxury treat than an afternoon snack, but like most things we enjoy eating out, Ive taken to making my own version at home.

The kids are happy with their sweet and cold refreshment, and Im thrilled to be saving money while simultaneously keeping their drinks as healthy as possible.
