Or Create Your Own Very Simple Bone Broth Diet Meal Plan

I am just not a follow someone elses meal plan person. I always create my own.

How to make a simple meal plan for the bone broth diet: Heres how I did it:

  • I highlighted recipes that sounded yummy in the bone broth diet books.

  • I choose 3 dinner recipes, 1 breakfast recipe, and 2 bone broth recipes since I am a minimalist and dont mind eating leftovers.

  • I showed my husband the dinner recipes to make sure he was ok with eating those .

  • I created a simple shopping list and ordered groceries.

These were the recipes I used for week 1. I supplemented with extra veggies and items I had in the fridge like uncured natural bacon.

The Bone Broth Diet And Weight Loss

No scientific studies have looked at how effective the Bone Broth Diet is at helping you lose weight.

Fortunately, scientists have studied the diets that form the basis of the Bone Broth Dietlow-carb dieting, intermittent fasting, and the paleo diet:

  • Low-carb dieting: Somestudiesshow that low-carb dieting is superior to moderate- and high-carb diets for weight loss, but these studies tend to be poorly designed. Welldesignedstudiesroutinelyshow that low-carb dieting isnt inherently better than moderate- and high-carb dieting for weight loss.
  • Intermittent fasting: Studiesshowthatintermittent fasting can help you lose weight because it helps you eat fewer calories per day. However, its no more effective than other forms of dieting when the number of calories consumed are the same. It just helps some people eat less.
  • The paleo diet: The paleo diet involves eating a high-protein diet thats rich in nutritious fruit and vegetables and low in processed foods. As such, it helpsmanypeopleloseweight. That said, its also restrictive, which means some people may find it difficult to stick to, and theres no evidence its superior to a plant-based, high-protein diet that also contains grains, dairy, and other non-paleo foods.

Based on the available evidence, each of these dieting strategies may help you lose weight. That said, none of them are essential for weight loss and are likely no more effective than regular, calorie-controlled dieting.

How To Follow Dr Kellyanns Bone Broth Diet

The Bone Broth Diet is a 21-day diet that involves eating low-carb meals five days per week and doing mini-fasts on the remaining two days.

On your non-fasting days, your meals primarily consist of foods like meat, fish, eggs, non-starchy vegetables, and fat.

Between meals, you snack on bone brotha liquor made by boiling animal bones for 12-to-24 hours. According to Petrucci, this stock provides your body with protein, fiber , amino acids, vitamins and nutrients, antioxidants, and collagen.

The diet prohibits dairy, grains, legumes, added sugar and artificial sweeteners, processed fruit, refined fat, potatoes , soda, and alcohol. On non-fasting days, Petrucci also advises against tracking your calorie intake.

For your mini-fasts, which you do on non-consecutive days each week, you can either . . .

  • Drink six portions of bone broth, or
  • Drink five portions of bone broth and eat an evening meal of protein, non-starchy vegetables, and fat.
  • In both cases, you should consume no more than 500 calories on mini-fast days.

You can continue with the diet after 21 days if you have more weight to lose, or you can switch to the 80/20 Maintenance Plan, which involves eating only approved foods 80% of the time and allowing yourself more freedom with your diet for the remaining 20%.

During a maintenance phase, you can continue with mini-fasts or choose to stop.

The Bone Broth Diet And Inflammation

Some research suggests that losing weight, eatingnutritious foods such as fruits, vegetables, and oily fish, and intermittentfasting can reduce systemic inflammation.

On these grounds, theres reason to believe that the Bone Broth Diet may reduce inflammation, but as yet, we have no research to back up this claim.

Bluebird uses a 100% recyclable standup pouch for their Instant Powder. Dr. Kellyann uses single serve sachets inside a master package.

If you purchase a 7 pack, that is individual packages per serving and another package to hold these packages.

If you are environmentally conscious, this creates lots of unnecessary packaging for you to consider.

How Long Does It Take To Make Bone Broth

Dr. Kellyanns Bone Broth Recipe is quick and easy to prepare.

The amount of time it takes depends on how many bones you have.

For example, if you only have chicken bones or turkey bones, it will take longer than with beef bones.

If you use large bones like leg bones, marrow bones, or knucklebones, then it will be quicker.

However, even when using small bones like shinbones, you can still expect to spend about 30 minutes per batch.

    Step 1: Clean Your Bones

    • Youll need to clean your bones before cooking them.
    • This includes removing any meat that may have fallen off the bones during butchering.
    • If you dont want to do this step, just add extra water so they cook more quickly.

    Step 2: Soak Your Bones

    • Place the cleaned bones into a pot and cover them with at least 4 inches of water.
    • Set aside until needed.

    Step 3: Cook Your Bones

    • Bring the water inside the stovetop to a boil.
    • Once boiling, reduce heat to medium low and let simmer uncovered for 45 minutes.
    • Remove the bones by draining the liquid through a colander placed over another pan.
    • Discard the water.
    • Repeat steps two and three above until you have enough bones for your recipe.

    Step 4: Strain Your Liquid

    • After straining the bones out, return the strained liquid back into the same pot.
    • Bring to a boil again and repeat steps one through four.
    • When finished, strain the bones out once again and discard the liquid.

For example, collagens link to decreasing wrinkles may have some truth to it. In a2019 review of five different collagen studies, four of the study participants reported improvements in their skin. But a 2018 study found that collagen supplements dont speed up collagen production.

The jury is still out as to how beneficial bone broth actually is, besides being hydrating, says Gans. The potential benefits may lie from the collagen in the broth, but it is uncertain if you are consuming a large enough amount from the broth to reap the health benefits.

As the Bone Broth Diet also utilizes intermittent fasting . But the science on that is also mixed. While a 2020 study published in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that participants doing IF lost more weight than those on Mediterranean and Paleo diets, a 2020 JAMA Internal Medicine study found that IF had a substantial negative effect on muscle mass.

Adds McWhorter, Any benefits are from consuming a diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins, not from a cleanse or magical effect of bone broth. Broth is delicious and can be consumed in a healthy diet, but there is no evidence of the claims made.

So, whats with the collagen and skin claims?

Whats the evidence behind collagen, anyhow? Read my post about it here.

Collagen, like every other protein, is made up of amino acid chains.

These amino acid chains are broken down into individual amino acids by the body, reconfigured, and sent to wherever theyre needed. Your body doesnt distinguish the proteins from collagen versus those from chicken or any other protein source.

Yes, collagen protein does contain glycine and proline, amino acids that are used especially to make collagen. But again, this doesnt necessarily mean that your wrinkles are going to disappear.

Bone Broth In A Pressure Cooker

Pressure cookers are the quickest way to make bone broth. So, what do I recommend?

As far as pressure cookers go, the Instant Pot is one of the handiest gadgets on the market. You can brown and sauté food in it as well as using it as a pressure cookerand you can use it as a slow cooker, too. The options are limitless and allow you to add many yummy ingredients to your bone broth in minutes. I have a delicious chicken bone broth recipe you need to try if you plan to make it in a pressure cooker!

The Bone Broth Diet And Skin Health

Some of the collagen you consume is broken down into amino acids, while some makes its way to the blood. Once there, it increases the growth of cells called fibroblasts and the synthesis of a substance called hyaluronic acid, both of which help to maintain your skin and joints.

This is why studies show that collagen supplements can help to improveskin elasticity and hydration, reducesignsofaging, and increase dermal blood flow.

Because bone broth contains collagen, many people think its as effective as collagen supplements for maintaining optimal skin health. However, research shows that homemade and commercially available bone broth contains much lower concentrations of collagen than collagen supplements, and thus probably isnt going to do much to improve the appearance of your skin.

What Is The Bone Broth Diet

Pin on Bone Broth Diet Recipes for Healthy Gut and SLIM Belly Weight Loss!

The bone broth diet is a 21-day plan that involves eating Paleo for five days and fasting for two. During the five days of eating Paleo, you drink anywhere from one to three cups of bone broth. On the fasting days, you have three to six cups of bone broth. Its basically the Paleo diet meets intermittent fasting, combined with an increased daily intake of bone broth.

Many people find that following a Paleo diet, may supports gut health and weight loss. This is because the Paleo diet cuts out the foods that are most problematic such as grains, refined sugar, and legumes and replaces them with high-quality animal proteins and vegetables, as well as small amounts of fruits and healthy fats from nuts and seeds. The bone broth diet takes Paleo to the next level by adding in two days of intermittent fasting.

Intermittent fasting is a cornerstone of many popular diets today, such as the keto diet, the 5:2 diet, and the crescendo fasting method. Intermittent fasting has been shown to help burn fat more efficiently, promote metabolism, increase lean muscle mass, support energy levels, and sharpen mental focus.
