When I came across the idea for a homemade powdered coffee creamer, I was somewhat skeptical. With only a few ingredients, it seemed almost TOO simple. But Im all about giving things a try, so I gathered the ingredients and whipped it up in about 2 minutes. And boy, was I surprised! This creamer hits all the right notes: its creamy, frothy, a little bit sweet, and all-around delicious. The best part, in my opinion, is that it lacks the chemical-y aftertaste that you get with many commercial creamers.

Another big plus about making your own creamer is that you can customize it to your own tastes. Maybe you love the flavor of vanilla, but you think store-bought vanilla creamers are too sweet. Just add a bit of vanilla powder to your creamer, and cut back on the amount of sugar you add. So simple! Heres how to make your own powdered coffee creamer at home.

Is It Okay To Add Sugar Into Coffee Mixed With Coffee Creamer

Many people are of the habit of adding a teaspoon or two of sugar to accompany coffee creamers. This is, however, a wrong method of taking coffee, as many health experts would agree. When you serve the right amount of coffee, it can provide health benefits to a person.

Coffee contains antioxidants that help fight diseases as well as help one stay focused and feel energized. However, adding things like sugar plummets the nutritional value of the coffee. When done repeatedly, this habit will eventually make you increase your sugar intake. If you are the kind of person that does this, try as much as you can to wean yourself off the habit.

Prep Time:

  • After soaking, drain and rinse the almonds.
  • Combine almonds, coconut oil and water in a blender and blend well.
  • If using cheesecloth: strain the mixture through the cloth and squeeze the almond pulp to get the almond cream out.
  • If using a sieve: strain through the sieve and use a spoon to squish the almond cream out of the pulp. You might end up with some pulp in your cream but it will just sink to the bottom of your cup. No biggie 🙂

    Milk Alternatives Vs Dairy

You’re probably asking yourself, “Why can’t I just use non-dairy milk like almond milk or soy milk? Why do I have to use dairy-free creamers specifically?”. There is no issue in pouring non-dairy milk into your coffee. But you have to consider the fact that non-dairy milk does not blend well with hot coffee mainly because of the acidity. If you try pouring some almond milk into your cup of coffee, it will clump up or curdle. However, if all you have is non-dairy milk, there is a way to work around this.

First, you might want to drink your coffee with ice instead. Alternatively, you can opt to use the cold brew method. This brewing method requires a lot of time but very minimal effort. Second, try pouring in the milk gradually. Don’t just dump it in.

Although a lot of coffee lovers swear by these tips, it is not guaranteed to work with all brewing methods. So it is a good idea to test the waters first or read some user reviews on the product. But the best thing that you could do is to stick to products labeled as coffee creamers.

I highly recommend using a homemade nondairy coffee creamer like this one because not only is it loaded with energizing fats and delicious flavor, but it also guarantees that you leave out any unhealthy and questionable ingredients.

Is coconut milk creamer good for you? It certainly can be if you use healthy, whole-food ingredients like this recipe, which is Paleo diet-friendly. This homemade coffee creamer is also an option for anyone following a vegan diet.

While on the subject of coconut milk, Ill answer a few other common questions:

    • Is coconut milk good for your heart? The debate over coconut oil and coconut milks healthiness will likely continue, but recent research points toward coconut milk as a healthy source of coconut fat, which was shown to decrease LDL bad cholesterol while increasing HDL good cholesterol, which is believed to protect against heart attack and stroke.
    • Can you use coconut milk as coffee creamer? Yes, you can certainly use pure coconut milk as a single ingredient, dairy-free creamer for coffee and tea.
    • Can you steam coconut milk? Yes, you can steam it just like cows milk.
    • What is a coconut milk latte? Its typically a hot drink made with espresso and coconut milk as the base liquid. I also love using full-fat coconut milk as the base for my Turmeric Latte Recipe.

How To Make The Best Dairy

Ive got a little secret for you. Are you ready? Its actually rather mind-blowing. Homemade dairy-free milk beverages actually perform BETTER in coffee and tea than store-bought milk beverages and creamers. Trust me. Ive tested dozens of store-bought and homemade dairy-free creamers over the years, and the easy recipes win, hands down.

Why? I believe its because most store-bought creamers contain emulsifiers, thickeners, and other additives that can be finicky when they hit your hot cup of joe. The pure, simple ingredients in homemade dairy-free creamer submerge for a more seamless finish. And those ingredients are ones that you probably keep stocked in your pantry!
