Low Carb Almond Flour Bread Ingredients

Keto Yeast Bread Recipe (Fluffy & Chewy!)

The pleasant surprise about this low carb bread recipe was that it worked out with only five ingredients :

  • Blanched almond flour The kind you use here is important. It needs to be super fine almond flour like this to achieve the right texture.
  • Psyllium husk powder Some brands can turn gray or purple when baking, so I recommend this one for consistent results.
  • Baking powder I always use gluten-free, but any kind will work.
  • Sea salt
  • Eggs Be sure you use large not medium, extra large, or jumbo.
  • Coconut oil You can also use butter instead, in the same amount.
  • Warm water This helps the psyllium husk bloom, since it absorbs moisture.

The combination of texture, taste and only a handful of ingredients all make this the best low carb bread in my book.

Where To Buy Keto Bread

Most mainstream grocery stores now stock at least one or two kinds of keto friendly bread. Aldi is perhaps the most well known and affordable keto bread available. The Loven Fresh bread Keto friendly bread comes in both wheat and multiseed, and boasts zero net carbs. Its also vegan friendly, so can be used as multipurpose bread.

    How To Make Keto Bread

Keto baking is a delicate balancing act involving finding the right combination of gluten free flours, healthy fats, binders, and leavening agents that will yield a loaf that actually looks and tastes like bread! We did quite a bit of experimenting in the kitchen to make sure we developed the best loaf of keto bread we possibly could.

The best part is our bread is super easy to make. It mixes up similar to how a cake would mix up, without the need for a rise time. We use yeast, but its just for flavor, not as a leavening agent.

How Many Carbs Are In Keto Bread

A good keto bread should contain fewer than 3g of carbs per slice. This recipe is as close to no carb bread as you can get. It comes out to 1g of net carbs per slice, making it a great option. Depending on the type of flour you are using and the recipe you follow, your keto bread may come out with a different carb count, but it will still be a healthier alternative to wheat bread.

    How To Make It

It really is easy to make and bake your own low carb bread at home. Here is all you need to do. I have included a low carb Thermomix bread recipe / method for all our Thermomix users. It is super easy this way and of course, can be replicated in any food processor as well.

    • Mix the yeast with the inulin and water in a large bowl or 2 cup measuring jug. Cover it and leave it in a warm place for 15-20 minutes until it activates. You will know it is activated by a thick foam on the surface of the water. The foam can almost double the volume in the jug.
    • Combine all the ingredients into a mixer with a dough hook, food processor or Thermomix and mix until the dough comes together.
    • Turn the dough out onto a clean bench or silicone mat and knead for 5 minutes or until the dough is soft supple and no longer sticky.
    • Press the dough into a large rectangle the same width as your loaf pan. Roll the dough over to form a log and place the dough seam side down into the loaf pan. Cover with a silicone mat or kitchen towel and leave in a warm place for 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
    • Bake for 45 minutes. Remove bread from baking pan immediately and allow to cool on a wire rack before slicing.

A Healthy Way To Make Bread Keto

Keto King Yeast Bread Recipe #KetoFriendlyBread

One of the tricks in this recipe that takes this keto bread from good to great is the . Youre going to want to separate the yolks and the whites. The reason for this is that were going to whip the whites until they are fluffy. Were looking for soft peaks.

Beating the whites is the answer to the denseness that comes with making an almond flour bread. Ive made countless baked goods using almond flour and the main problem Ive encountered is how dense the finished product is.

The fluffy whites in unison with the high dosage of baking powder do a good job of getting this loaf nice and fluffy and adding some air pockets into the loaf. This makes for a better tasting bread recipe.

TIP: Make sure the water is warm, not hot or cold. A good temperature range is 105-115 degrees. If you dont have a thermometer, use the inside of your wrist to test. It should feel pleasantly warm, not cold or hot.

Your Keto Bread Replacement Has Arrived

When you first set out to make a bread low carb, you are going to need to replace all purpose flour with a low carb alternative. Typically we use almond flour or coconut flour.

Almond flour provides more flavor and a generally more delicious result.

Coconut flour is much more absorbent and can oftentimes result in a dry loaf of bread.

Rather than trying to substitute coconut flour for almond flour, you are usually better off looking for alternative keto recipes that uses your desired flour, because they behave so differently in recipes. Either option is going to be a big improvement over wheat bread.

So Im Going To Share This Keto Yeast Bread Recipe But First I Want To Take A Moment To Crow About It A Little Bit

Ultimately, this Keto Yeast Bread recipe was born from all my failures.

I blended together a few recipes, swapped out some low carb ingredients, and before I knew it, I had a loaf of bread that I could brag about. This very bread you are looking at. The one with the chunk cut out of it.

The recipe I am about to share is a real yeast bread with a lovely crust and an elastic and chewy center.

This bread is truly a thing of beauty. And each slice has just 5g net carbs, so you can afford to eat a slice or two and stay on your low carb diet. Make it into sandwiches, why don’t you?

Why Add Yeast To Keto Bread Recipes

How to Make Keto Bread With Yeast – KETO ALMOND EGGLESS BREAD

There are three reasons we like to add yeast to some of our keto baked goods.

  • Keto Breads are typically dense and often grainy and dry. Yeast wont make it as light and fluffy as the high-carb bread that were used to in the supermarket. But it does make it lighter and more doughy than other low-carb bread.
  • Inulin that the yeast feeds on is a super prebiotic and has a multitude of health benefits.
  • The aroma. We have used yeast a number of times in our keto recipes purely for the aroma.
  • Your sense of smell is every bit as important as taste when it comes to the desirability of food and yeast does that with bread.

We tested that theory with our famous ketogenic soft pretzels recipe.
