Can I Make This Ahead Of Time
You can definitely make this ahead of time for meal prep or as a way to quickly get dinner on the table during the week. To reheat these garlic butter baked pork chops without losing moisture, I suggest you use to oven to reheat them. Bake them for 5 to 10 minutes with a splash of stock in a 350F oven, covered with aluminum foil.
If you are at work or in a rush and need to reheat the pork chops in the microwave, you will have to add the pork chop and some stock to a microwave safe bowl, cover, and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes. The extra liquid and the cover will build steam and help keep the pork chop from drying out.

Cooking Tips For Pork Chop Recipes
- Let the pork chops come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking them. This will help them to cook evenly.
- You can season your pork chops with your favorite spices. In this recipe I use smoked paprika and garlic powder.
- You will need a lid to cover your skillet while the pork chops cook on the second side. I dont have a lid specifically for my cast iron skillet, so I just use another lid that fits.
- Try not to overcook your pork chops, or they may be tough and dry. Using an instant read thermometer is an easy way to check that the pork is cooked through to 145 degrees F.
- Let the pork chops rest for 10 minutes after cooking to let the juices redistribute throughout the meat.
Baked Pork Chops Ingredients & Cooking Tools:
To make this baked pork chops recipe, you will need:
- Thick-cut pork chops: When it comes to purchasing pork chops, there are three important qualities to look for that I highly, highly recommend:
- Thick-cut: Ideally, between 1 to 1.5 inches thick. Thick-cut pork chops much easier to cook correctly than their thinner counterparts. If your grocery store only offers really thinly-cut chops, just go to the meat counter and ask if they can double-cut them for you.
- Bone-in: I much prefer bone-in pork chops because they have the most flavor. But if you prefer the leaner boneless pork chops, those will work too. Just be extra-careful not to overcook them.
- Fresh: Be sure to also buy the freshest pork that you can find. In general, you want to look for pork that is a deep reddish-pink or reddish-purple color, not grayish or white. And the fat should be white and creamy, not dotted with dark spots. It should also be pretty firm, and not soft and squishy.

How To Store The Leftovers
When it comes to these tender pork chops, I highly doubt youll have any leftovers but on the rare chance that you do, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. I personally recommend eating them the next day though otherwise the marinade and the pork may start to dry out, and nobody wants that to happen!
What Temperature Should Pork Chops Be Cooked To
Pork should be cooked to medium-rare or 145ºF which is the USDAs safe temperature guideline for pork chops. I recommend you remove the pork from the oven when the temperature reaches 135º 140ºF and allow the pork to rest for 5-10 minutes. During this resting time, the temperature will rise 5 to 10 degrees.

Recipe Tips And Variations
For some great variations, you can try the following:
- You could swap the Worcestershire sauce in this recipe for soy sauce. If you do, just cut the salt measurement in half since soy sauce adds a lot of salt on its own.
- Swap the seasonings for a premade pork seasoning rub, like BBQ.
- Add your favorite vegetables like broccoli or green beans to the pan for a one-pan meal idea.
- I use a digital meat thermometer to check the internal temp of the pork chops. They are done when they reach 145 degrees, and if you cook them too much longer, they will dry out.
Ingredient Oven Baked Pork Chops
Once I got the temperature and timing down pat I went a step further and added this sweet and salty seasoning to make these over the top!
I will never make them another way again. Ever.
- I will be honest, I normally just make Instant Pot pork. I rarely ever use my oven for anything, unless its to bake a cake.
- BUT now these oven baked pork chops is the 2nd thing that I love baking in there, hands down.
You can really use bone in or boneless but I prefer with the bones.
I guess it is because typically you can grab them pretty cheap that way, but a bit more work when theyre done I guess.
See what is on sale and decide for yourself. Price is usually top on my list other than I prefer organic if there isnt a huge difference in $.
Ok so this is what youre going to need for the seasoning.
I wouldnt stray from the recipe as that is what makes it over the top amazing.

- First, preheat the oven to 425°F. Pat dry the pork chops with a paper towel to remove any leftover moisture from the packaging. Then, season the pork chops well with salt and pepper. The amount of salt and pepper depends on your taste.
- Prepare the butter sauce by melting four tablespoons of butter in the microwave or stove. Once its melted, add the chopped thyme and garlic. Stir well, and set aside.
