Instant Pot Tips And Tricks

  • If you double the recipe you do not have to double the time! Keep the time the same the instant pot does not measure cooking time based on volume.
  • Be sure to save time for the Instant Pot to come to pressure. If the recipe says 10 minutes cooking time, add another 10-15 minutes onto that because that is how long it will take to come to pressure.
  • After you have programmed the time, the Instant Pot twill take some time to come to pressure and then it will show the timer you have set and start counting down. So, try and be patient before you think you did something wrong.
  • Make sure your lid is always locked into place and the knob is turned to SEALING when you begin cooking.
  • Make sure that you have enough thin liquid in your Instant Pot in order for it to come up to pressure properly. We say at least 1 cup of thin liquid is a good rule of thumb.
  • You can put other oven-safe glass or metal bowls in the Instant Pot if you wanted to separate the food without having to cook them separately.
  • Unlike a microwave, you CAN you aluminum foil in the Instant Pot without causing a fire in the kitchen.
  • You can use multiple setting such as the saute function to cook up onions or meat beforehand then just press cancel and add the rest of the ingredients.
  • Avoid using dairy in the cooking process if at all possible since it can scald or curdle. You can always add it once the cooking is done. Although when you are making yogurt this does not apply.
  • How Long Do You Cook Frozen Chicken Breast In The Instant Pot

    Add between 2-4 minutes to the cook times listed above if your chicken breasts are frozen. I find that adding 3 extra minutes is usually perfect for frozen chicken breasts. You will also want to do a 10 minute natural release instead of a quick release for frozen chicken.

    Make sure that your frozen chicken breasts are not all stuck together in one mass, as this will increase the cook time needed. I recommend freezing chicken breasts in a flat layer so that they are easy to separate when adding to your Instant Pot.

    You can prep the ingredients for this honey garlic chicken, freeze and then transfer to your Instant Pot frozen. I recommend thawing just slightly in cool water so that you can easily pour the sauce from the freezer bag. You will need the sauce to be liquid for Instant Pot pressure cooking.

    How Long To Cook Instant Pot Chicken Breast:

    • Dont overcook overcooked chicken breast is not anyones favorite thing, but is somewhat difficult to do in the Instant Pot because the steam provides such a moist environment for the chicken to cook in.
    • Dont undercook undercooked chicken breast is just plain dangerous! Be sure to check the internal temperature of the chicken to ensure its at least 165 degrees F.
    • The exact cook time is going to depend on a variety of things, including the size and shape , and also the model of Instant Pot you have, as some run hotter or cooler. My recipes are tested in the 6 quart model with Bluetooth. Its important to take these these factors into consideration but I find a cook time of 8-10 minutes is always perfect and juicy for the chicken

    Prep Ahead The fillets can be seasoned and marinated a day before hand.

    Store Store the cooked meat in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

    • Let the meat cool down then, wrap them in plastic wrap and transfer into these very handy Ziploc freezer bags.

    How Long Does It Take To Cook Frozen Chicken Breasts In The Instant Pot

    The process will be the same as raw chicken, but when cooking frozen chicken you will want to add another 2-3 minutes to the cooking time, as well as do a natural release of 10 minutes.

The herbs you use can be any mix of simple dried herbs that you have in the cupboard and that you love. We think Italian seasoning is especially nice, because with herbs like marjoram and parsley in the mix, its got a little extra oomph. But if all youve got is some dried oregano, thats OK too! The Instant Pot will still work its chicken-cooking magic, and youll still be blown away by how easy it is to cook chicken breasts this way.

    From sear to season and everything in between, this recipe really is a snap to make in an Instant Pot!

  • Setyour Instant Potto SAUTE and drizzle the inner pot with 1 tablespoon of oil.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the dried herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Rub the chicken with 1 tablespoon of oil and then season the chicken all over with salt and pepper to taste, and then rub again with the seasoning blend.
  • Add chicken to pot, browning for 1-2 minutes on each side, then transfer the breasts to a plate.
  • Next, add the butter to the pot. Once its melted, stir in the garlic, then the rice along with the other dried herbs and salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the chicken broth.
  • Finally, set the steam rack in the pot with the handles up. Place the chicken on the rack. Add the lid, seal, and set to PRESSURE COOK or MANUAL for 5 minutes. Let the chicken and rice cook through the timer then do a natural release for 5 minutes, then remove the lid. Take the chicken out and transfer it to a plate.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over chicken and rice, and serve.
