Berry Blast No Banana Smoothie
Low in sugar and packed with antioxidants, berries are one of the healthiest fruits you can add to your diet. Unfortunately, they can be quite pricey and lacking in quality when out-of-season. The solution? Frozen berries! Picked at the peak of freshness and flash-frozen, they have all the nutrition youd get from in-season berries, for a fraction of the price. Any combination of berries will workblueberries, raspberries, strawberries are all good!
Dairy Free Smoothies With Superfoods
Super-foods are optional but its a great way to add some extra antioxidants to your dairy free smoothies.
Another thing is that people with certain chronic diseases, have a hard time absorbing vitamins, so supplementing is even more essential.
When Im looking to supplement, I avoid the synthetic form of vitamins produced in the lab. A natural, real food source is what our bodies like:
What can replace milk in a smoothie?
Water, coconut water, plant based milk , cold tea or coffee, non-dairy yogurt.
Why I feel so bloated after a dairy filled smoothie?
Its either the dairys culprit or you just dont have enough enzymes to break down the fructose of fruits.
Can dairy free smoothies help with weight loss?
If the ingredients you use in your non-dairy smoothies are low in calories and high in protein and fiber, then it may keep you full longer and prevent you from snacking something less healthy.
What dairy free milk is best for smoothies?
The ones that dont have added sugar, thickeners and artificial flavors. There are many brands on the market, just read the back label carefully.
Delicious Healthy And Easy
Smoothies are a wonderful way to sneak nutrients into a diet, and you can make endless variations. My trick is, dont use ice use frozen fruit instead! In one fell swoop, you get the fruit and the ice and so much more flavor. Plus, frozen fruit often tastes better than fresh because they are picked at their ripest and sweetest, and they require no cleaning or rinsing. Bananas got too ripe? Just stick them in the freezer the riper the better. When you need them, run them under warm water the peels will come right off.
Make a large smoothie batch and save the rest for later in the blender, or pour it into a large bottle and bring it with you. If the mixture separates, give the blender a few turns again. If youre thinking of offering grownup brunch drinks, simply add half a cup of vodka to the mix!

Tips On How To Make A Smoothie Without Milk
Creating a smoothie is an art that needs to be mastered. When you are creating a smoothie without milk, there are a few things that must be bought into consideration that can enhance your smoothies taste and make your tummy feel fuller.
So, the layers are as follows :
- Liquids like cold water, juice, or yogurt
- Dry ingredients like powders, dry fruits, seeds, etc.
- Leafy greens and pastes like mint leaves, peanut butter, etc.
- Fruits or vegetables
Water Or Coconut Water

The number one, best green smoothie in the whole wide world uses *gasp* WATER. It’s 100% dairy free and proud to be… and people can’t get enough of it. I know a lot of you hesitate to use water in a smoothie, but trust me, when you’ve got the right formula, water is a great smoothie base.
Coconut water is a unique beverage that has been touted as nature’s gatorade. It’s loaded with electrolytes, and is a must in workout recovery. It can be an acquired taste, so if you’re new to coconut water, try doing half coconut water and half regular water in your next smoothie, then increase your ratio as you fall in love.

What Kind Of Blender Do I Need
I do suggest investing in a high-powered blender to make these smoothies as creamy as possible. I personally use a VitaMix 5200, but Ive also had a Ninja Professional in the past and loved it.
Beyond using a good blender, Ive discovered a few tricks for making smoothies sweet and creamy without the use of dairy or bananas, and Ive put them into these recipes down below. I hope you love them! Lets dig in.
The Best Blender For The Job
Ive owned a lot of blenders, but my high-speed Vitamix blender is definitely the best one Ive owned. This appliance will blend even the toughest of ingredients into pulp. I prefer using my blender to my food processor for sauces or homemade hummus, as its much easier to clean out the Vitamix. This is definitely one kitchen appliance we use on a daily basis, if not twice a day!

Can You Make A Smoothie Without Liquid
You might now be wondering if you can make a smoothie without liquid at all.
Once again, the answer is YES!
Just follow the same steps as above, but leaving out the water all together.
I went through a phase for awhile where I ONLY made my smoothies without liquid.
I just loved how thick and flavorful they were and I most often went with a super tropical theme!
My pineapple detox smoothie has no liquid at all and tasted like a tropical frosty!
Fresh pineapple, cucumber, and lemon were the water components, which I added to the blender first.
After that, I added in my frozen fruit, ice, and remaining ingredients and blended until thick and creamy!
Do You Need Milk To Make A Smoothie

The answer is no!
You absolutely do not need milk to make a smoothie.
In fact, some of the most delicious smoothies I have ever made do not have any milk in them at all.
Sometimes milk is a great way to help build your smoothies, but it also can easily water down the flavor depending on the type of smoothie you are making.
Green smoothies especially should never be made with milk in them.
I discovered a long time ago that the very best green smoothie I have ever tastedis made with water, citrus fruits, and ice.
Some green smoothies may taste good with milk, but I prefer the ones without it much better.
You have to learn which flavors play well together and which ones clash.
Otherwise you might find yourself hating smoothies and giving up on them all together.
That was me for awhile and I had just about given up making smoothies taste good.
Now that I know how to make delicious smoothies at home, I make them all of the time!

How I Make My Vegan Smoothies
Each morning I open the freezer and choose what fruit Id like to have. I keep my freezer stocked with dark sweet cherries, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple and a tropical mix of strawberry, banana, mango, and papaya.
Next, I grab the So Delicious Dairy Free Organic Almondmilk, coconut milk yogurt and fresh spinach.
- First frozen fruit
- Then the yogurt
- Top with fresh spinach
Now Ill be honest, I dont often measure, but I did this time so I could give you an accurate measurement. I use the following:
- 1 1/2 cups frozen fruit
- 3/4 cup almondmilk
- 6-oz container coconut milk yogurt
- A handful of fresh spinach
All thats left to do is blend. I suggest using a good blender. I use a BlendTec but ive heard raving reviews about VitaMix as well. Ive had my BlendTec for several years and use it daily. I simply push the smoothie button and let it do all the work.
The Ultimate Banana Blueberry Smoothie For A Healthy Breakfast Treat
This banana blueberry smoothie is adapted from my Wild Blue Smoothie recipe in Go Dairy Free: The Ultimate Guide and Cookbook. I originally shared this popular recipe back in 2006, and it has become a family favorite. Here are a few quick notes and tips about this recipe:
Go Green Dont worry, you wont taste or see the spinach! Spinach is a great beginner green for smoothies. It provides extra vitamins and minerals, but its the most tender and mildly-flavored green. You wont detect it beneath the bold fruit flavors and the purple hue of the dark berries masks the green color.
Start Slow The reason I add half the milk beverage first is to ensure the spinach fully blends in. If you add too much liquid, the leaves tend to just spin around even with some high power blenders! But a thicker base allows even wimpy blenders to pulverize those greens.
Choose Your Consistency As is, this is a drinkable smoothie. I give the option to add ice for a thicker blend, like the one pictured. If you want a really thick shake, you can use a frozen banana. But you might need to add a little more liquid.
Sweeten Only as Needed The sweetness of this banana blueberry smoothie will depend on the sweetness of your fruit. Usually, Im able to omit the sweetener or add just a small pinch of pure stevia extract. I just recommend that you add the sweetener last to avoid adding more than you need. Sometimes its surprisingly sweet as is!

The Best Toppings For An Acai Smoothie
The fun part about an acai smoothie is the toppings! Because toppings are such an integral component of an acai bowl, you absolutely cant go without them here. We eat with our eyes, and the rainbow effect of the toppings really works. Here are our favorite ways to top this smoothie:
- Almond butter: This is absolutely essential! The texture of almond butter in the smoothie almost reminds me of hot fudge in a sundae. Yep, its that good! Plus, it adds plant-based protein which makes the smoothie more filling.
- Fresh strawberries and blueberries: Bring in bright colors with these tangy sweet berries.
- Mango: Add a few mango chunks for color and sweetness: you can even thaw a few frozen ones under warm water.
- Coconut flakes: Coconut flakes add a nice crunch and tropical flavor.

Why Do We Use Frozen Fruit In This Berry Smoothie

There’s a few reasons to use frozen fruit in berry smoothies and the first is that it helps keep the smoothie cold without having to add tons of ice which will eventually water down the smoothie.
Another reason is to give the smoothie a creamy texture without needing to add yogurt. Frozen berries blend up really nicely and give the recipe the creaminess you want in a smoothie without the need for a lot of other additives.
Finally, I like to use frozen berries because they are easy to keep on hand. Fresh berries don’t last very long and they can be expensive. It’s cheaper and easier to use frozen berries which can be kept on hand all the time and are readily available at the grocery store year round.
