Place the ground turkey in the slow cooker and break up into smaller pieces. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to mix. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours. Is Chili Low Carb

Slow Cooker No Bean Chili (Keto Low Carb)

Traditional chili is NOT low carb since Its loaded with various beans and legumes.

However, because I am THAT weird girl who doesnt want any such thing tainting my slurperty-bowl of chili, I made you this low carb chili recipe accidentally on purpose.

On purpose because beans + chili = big fat NO in heart.

Accidentally because Im not a low carb person, but PYSCH an Instant pot full of veggies and meat is pretty much as low carb friendly AS IT GETS. And it also a perfect crock pot meal prep recipe so you can have that action for lunch the next day!

  • Protein Easily swap out the ground beef for other proteins, like ground chicken or ground turkey. You can also use diced chicken thighs or steak .

This recipe is easy enough to convert to a more traditional, bean chili to feed those family members who arent on a keto diet? A great way to make one recipe and serve it to two different eating styles.

Ingredients For No Bean Ground Turkey Chili:

    no

Ground Turkey use your favorite brand. My local store carries Perdue brand ground turkey so thats what I use.

Diced Onion use a medium sized onion.

Bell Pepper I used a green bell pepper. You can use red, yellow or orange bell pepper if desired.

Garlic use fresh cloves of garlic or use jarred minced garlic for this recipe.

Green Chiles I used a 4 ounce can of green chiles.

Diced Tomatoes If you have fired roasted diced tomatoes available in your local grocery store you can use those in this recipe.

    Tomato Sauce

    Beef Broth

Liquid Smoke look for liquid smoke in the section where you find BBQ sauce. Liquid smoke gives a delicious grilled, smokey flavor to the chili. If you dont have it or cant find it this can be left out. The chili will still be delicious.

Spices including chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper.

Not shown in the picture is a small amount of olive oil that I use to sauté the vegetables.

Topping: serve the chili with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, sliced green onions, sliced olives or even sliced jalapenos.

    What Is The Ketogenic Diet

The ketogenic diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares similarities to paleo, Whole30, and Atkins. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake, and replacing it with fat. When your body switches to burning fat for its primary fuel source, thats when you hit ketosis.

While on the Keto diet youre supposed to get at least 70 percent of your calories from fat, 15 to 25 percent from protein, and 10 percent from carbohydrates. Youre supposed to avoid all grains, legumes, root vegetables, fruit, and sugar.

    The Best Keto Chili Toppings

Once youve made your low carb beanless chili recipe, its time for sides and toppings. Here are a few ideas:

    • Shredded cheese Cheddar cheese is my personal favorite, but you can also use Mexican blend or any other type from the keto cheese list.
    • Sour cream Yes, sour cream is keto! Use the full-fat kind.
    • Green Onions I prefer to slice them using kitchen shears, see how in my YouTube video of this keto chili recipe.
    • Avocado Dice it, or slice thinly and fan out. This is also in the video.
    • Jalapenos Slice them thinly. Remove the seeds if you want the flavor with less heat.
    • Keto Cornbread The BEST side for keto friendly chili!

What Kind Of Ground Beef Should I Use

Ideally, for a low-carb or keto diet, you want to aim for using higher-fat meats. Generally, a 70/30 ground beef would be the best for a recipe such as this.

Fatty meats, however, do cook down a lot more since there is more fat to cook out. While this isnt a huge deal, that simply means however much youre using doesnt go as. far.

For instance, one pound of 70/30 ground beef might cook down to 3/4 of a pound or less.

Ground beef that is lower in fat will end up being more meat and less fat after browned but is more expensive.

    Really, the choice is yours.

Keto Instant Pot Chili Recipe No Beans â Megan Seelinger Coaching

Were going to start by browning some ground beef with onion and bell pepper. This is a super hearty chili and we like lots of beef here!

Once the meat is browned, youll add in some minced jalapeno and garlic. The jalapeno doesnt make this too spicy, but it does give it a nice little kick of flavor. Feel free to adjust to your own tastes.

Season things up with some chili powder, cumin, and salt.

Tomato products can be pretty high in carbs, so rather than using tomato sauce like I would in my traditional chili recipe, Im using tomato paste and beef broth. Trust methis is going to be good.

Youll also stir in a can of diced tomatoes.

Simmer your chili for as youd likethe longer it cooks the more flavorful it gets and the more tender the beef gets.

I like to let it simmer for a couple of hours over really low heat but Ive also served this after just a 20 minute. Its delicious either way!

We top our chili with freshly grated cheddar and a dollop of sour cream.
