    Again, I like to add this while I sauté my vegetables and meat. I find its the best time to layer in this flavor. I dont go heavy on the black pepper when Im using this spice mix, though, because it already has red pepper flakes and cayenne.     • Avoid cooking on high heat. Cooking this low and slow allows time for those flavors to develop and meld together, and it makes the beef more tender.
    • Wait to add the beans until the end. Canned beans are already cooked so if you add them in the beginning they end up way too mushy.

    This chili is so easy to make, the slow cooker does most of the work! Heres how youll prepare it:

    • Saute aromatics, add to slow cooker: Heat olive oil in a large and deep non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.Add onion and saute 3 minutes, then add garlic and saute 30 seconds longer. Pour onions into a 6 or 7 quart slow cooker .
    • Brown beef: Return skillet to medium-high eat, add beef and cook stirring occasionally until beef has browned.
    • Drain fat, add beef to slow cooker: Drain most of fat from beef, leaving about 2 Tbsp in with beef . Pour browned beef into slow cooker.
    • Add liquids and seasonings: Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, paprika, cocoa powder, sugar, coriander and season mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
    • Cook low and slow: Cover with lid and cook on low heat for 5 6 hours.
    • Stir in beans: Add in dark and light red kidney beans and allow to heat through, about 2 minutes.
    • Serve warm with desired toppings.

  • Evenly divide chili into 2 zip-top freezer bags .
  • Seal and lay each bag flat.
  • Stack bags of chili in freezer.

  • Pour thawed chili into a 9-inch square baking dish.
  • Cover tightly with heavy-duty plastic wrap, and fold back a corner to allow steam to escape.

    Ingredients For Slow Cooker Chili:

    • Ground Beef no other protein does it quite like beef and Ground Beef tastes amazing. We use lean to eliminate the need to spoon out excess fat. If yours has a higher fat content, you can spoon out the excess fat when it renders in the skillet.
    • Onion we love a generous amount of onion because it adds amazing sweet notes to the chili and disappears into the chili as it slow cooks.
    • Beans you can change up the beans based on what you have on hand, but the classic beans for chili are kidney beans , and black beans. Be sure to rinse and drain the beans in a colander for the best chili consistency and color.
    • Tomatoes & Tomato Sauce We love the combination of canned diced tomatoes as well as tomato sauce to give the chili a saucy consistency with great texture. For added flavor, we add a can of diced tomatoes and green chilis.
    • Chili Seasoning we make a simple homemade blend with chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.

    Slow Cooker Chili McCormick kidney beans, chili seasoning, tomato sauce, ground turkey, diced tomatoes and 1 more Loris 3 Bean Slow Cooker Chili with Ground Beef Lori’s Culinary Creations
