How To Make Keto Brown Sugar Syrup

Cinnamon infused & brown sugar simple syrup

If you follow a Keto lifestyle, you can still take advantage of this recipe and make your own keto-friendly brown sugar syrup. I highly recommend using Bochasweet for this particular recipe, rather than Stevia or Erythritol as both of these keto-friendly sugar replacements leave an aftertaste that is undesired.Youll Need 2 teaspoon of Molasses 1/4 tsp lemon juice

To make the syrup, combine the Bochasweet and molasses in a small saucepan, stirring until well mixed. Add half a cup of water and heat over medium heat bringing the mixture to a boil. Simmer, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens, about four minutes in all.

Allow the mixture to cool briefly, then stir in the lemon juice. While you wont be able to taste the juice, this will help prevent recrystallization of the Bochasweet.

Molasses contains 11g of carbohydrates per tablespoon. Were opting to use 1 teaspoon which equals 7.33 net carbs total for the entire recipe. A serving size of keto brown sugar syrup is 2 tablespoons , or less than 1 net carb per serving, about the same as a serving of heavy cream.

To make keto brown sugar syrup in a crockpot, combine the Bochasweet and molasses in a small crockpot. Stir well, add the water. Cook for four hours on low. Add lemon juice, stir. Cool and bottle.

Which Ingredients Are Used In This Coffee Syrup

This recipe uses just three ingredients, which are as follows:

  • Brown sugar
  • Cold tap water
  • Cinnamon

Brown sugar by itself has a typical taste that some people find too dark and sticky, but when you add cinnamon to the mix, then all of a sudden, that same brown sugar starts tasting noticeably sweeter!

Thats because the warm spiciness from the cinnamon balances out the typical bitterness and astringency from this type of natural cane sugar.

Now lets talk about the best cinnamon to use for this homemade coffee syrup:

How To Make Cinnamon Brown Sugar Syrup

To make this coffee syrup, you just have to follow a few steps. Have a look below for a quick look.

What Does Brown Sugar Syrup Taste Like

Brown sugar syrup has deeper, more caramel-like flavor than classic simple syrup. Light brown sugar gives the syrup a toffee-like quality, whereas dark brown sugar is richer and more deeply flavored, thanks to the extra molasses in the brown sugar.

Similar to simple syrup, you can add other flavors to your brown sugar syrup. Cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans, fresh ginger, or orange peels can be added at the start and left to steep while the syrup cools. Simply remove the solids before decanting the syrup into a storage container.

What Type Of Sugar Works Best For Cinnamon Syrup

    • Regular white granulated sugar makes a great cinnamon syrup. It’s the cheapest option if you use a lot of cinnamon syrup.
    • Demerara sugar is another excellent choice that gives the syrup a richer flavor to back up the cinnamon.
    • Brown sugar is an option, though it’s best to split it with white sugar. The cinnamon can get lost behind the darker sugar, so begin with 1 part of each sugar and see how you like it. Yet, if you were to add even more spices, something like this brown sugar spiced simple syrup can be very useful.
    • You can also use sugar substitutes. Each will be a little different so taste it regularly to see how the flavor develops.
