Depending on the fruits and vegetables that youre consuming, its possible that your morning, afternoon or evening juice are lower in calories than your normal snacks.

How To Make A Green Detox Juice

Use a quality vertical juicer extractor, mine is a Biochef and it performs great. It squeezes at a slow speed which separates the fibers from the liquids and preserves a maximum of nutrients. If you don’t have one then use a blender that will uniquely blend to reduce it drink.

  • Start by cleaning under cold water all the fruits and vegetables, preserve the skin because it contains a lot of vitamins and minerals.
  • Then using a cutting board and a knife, cut your fruits and vegetables into pieces .
  • Begin by passing the spinach leaves and Chinese cabbage through and accompany it with cucumber or apples to make it easier to get into the extractor.
  • Then continue by passing all the fruits and vegetables alternately.

    I thought that the first day was going to be the toughest. It wasnt. In fact, I felt amazing during the first two days. I can see why people would fast for spiritual reasons. Waking up on day two with the feeling on nothing inside my body felt great.

    I cant say that I felt an increase of energy. My energy levels stayed the same. I reigned in my usually intensive workouts during the five days to conserve energy.

    I was surprised at my lack of hunger. I thought that it was going to be a struggle, but for the most part I was never starving or craving food. I was also surprised at how much water I drank in addition to the juices.

    I did however, have a mild headache almost every day. It wouldnt last all day, though. On the second day, I made the mistake of waiting to have my green juice for a couple of hours after I woke up.

    I wasnt hungry and was enjoying my light feeling. All of a sudden, I could feel my blood sugar plummet and I became dizzy. Needless to say, I made my juices first thing in the morning during the rest of the fast.

    Despite enjoying the feeling of lightness during the first two days of my juice fast, I stop noticing it by day three. My diet is so healthy as is that I didnt experience any detox symptoms and there wasnt any dramatic health improvements beyond what Ive already experienced with green smoothies and whole foods.

    After the initial juice cleanse, Katie and I fell into a regular routine of drinking our juice as breakfast. With this new routine came immediate gains and consequences.

    If you dont own a juicer, thats okay, you can still make fresh juice! High quality juicers can be expensive. If youre going to buy either a juicer or a blender, Id go with blender.

  • To make juice in a blender, add the ingredients to the blender and blend on the lowest setting.
  • Slowly add just enough water to turn the blender. Puree until completely smooth, adding more water to thin as necessary.
  • Pour through a fine mesh sieve set over a wide mouth jar or bowl. Use cheesecloth or a nut milk bag for a thinner juice.

    How To Make Juice

    First, you need to determine what kind of vegetables and fruits you would like to add to your juice and how many cups to drink each day. The recommended amount is drinking 4-6 juices, 500-600ml each and at least 2 liters of water.

    Always aim to put more vegetables than fruits in your drink. The ideal is ratio is 80% vegetables and 20% fruits. For example, if you choose to include 5 ingredients in your juice, then you should put 1 piece of fruit and 4 pieces of vegetables.

    80/20 Juice meal plan options:

    • Meal Plan Option 1: Consume 100% fruit juice for breakfast, while other juices are made of mostly vegetables.
    • Meal Plan Option 2: The First 2 juices are made of 50% fruits and 50% vegetables and the other 3-4 juices are entirely vegetables.
    • Meal Plan Option 3: Each of the 6 juices is made of 1-2 cups of fruit and 4-8 cups of vegetables.

    Carrots, sweet potatoes, beets, and other starchy vegetables can add sweetness to your drink.

    You can also add grapefruits or lemon to your vegetable juice to make it taste better, as citruses have very low sugar and may not be counted as real fruits.

    It is important to consume mostly low sugar juices, so make sure that 50% of your daily juice ingredients or daily juices are made of green vegetables.
