It’s a favorite Weight Watchers power food that I’ve enjoyed in a multitude of ways this summer, including in the French womens’ magical breakfast cream, skinny banana cream “pie,” and combined with a variety of fruit like these skinny strawberry yogurt granola parfaits.
Now that fall has arrived, it seemed time to add another favorite power food – canned pumpkin puree – to the mix. With it’s healthy dose of vitamins, minerals and fiber, I love to keep a can or two around for when the mood strikes.

Just A Few Of The Bajillion Reasons I Love This Dessert:
- Make-ahead friendly: Its completely edible right after whipping, but I actually prefer to stick my whipped Greek yogurt in the fridge for 2-4 hours before I dig in. Its thick and whippy like a Yoplait Whip from the grocery store .
- Easy to find ingredients: We almost always have the few required ingredients on hand for whipped Greek yogurt. And at least at my house in the Fall, its a guarantee pumpkin spice and canned pumpkin can be easily located. Thats all you need!
- Natural sweetener: Both the original and pumpkin spice version use a small dose of maple syrup for sweetener. It only takes 2 tablespoons of sweetener for a 4 serving batch.
- Simple to make: No weird techniques, no stove or oven usage, just some whipping and stirring. Anyone can make it!
- Protein: Did you know 1 cup of Greek yogurt has 20g of protein? So what Im really telling you is that each serving has 5g of protein. FOR DESSERT.

What Type Of Yogurt Is Best
You can use whatever type of yogurt youd like and even make the recipe vegan by using coconut milk or almond milk yogurt. Neutral flavors like plain and vanilla will work best and if youre trying to amp up your protein, skyr or Greek yogurt will give you the most per serving.
One thing I recommend is to avoid buying fat-free yogurt. I think 2% or full-fat is much better because it tastes less tart, it is more full-bodied and satisfying, it will keep you full longer and fat is good for us!

Homemade Pumpkin Pie Yogurt
I like to use plain, full fat yogurt in this recipe. I tried it with Greek yogurt and it was okay but I preferred the texture of the non-Greek yogurt. Definitely dont use fat-free Greek yogurt, if you can avoid it. Without the fat you lose out on the richness.
You can definitely serve this yogurt on its own for a snack. Serve it with some graham crackers crumbled on top or chocolate chips to make it more of a treat. We also like to use apple slices to make it a pumpkin yogurt dip!
For breakfast, or a heavier snack, I would pair it with some granola or chopped nuts on top.

This recipe makes a dozen Pumpkin muffins. Each muffin clocks in at 100 calories and counts as one SmartCarb and one Extra on the Nutrisystem plan. Complete this Flex breakfast with some PowerFuels, such as a glass of skim milk, low-fat Greek yogurt or a serving of walnuts.

Hand mixed Pumpkin Greek yogurt will have a bit more texture than if you blitzed it with a hand mixer. So if you want a very creamy breakfast bowl, break out the hand mixer.
You can also make pumpkin yogurt it in a blender, but because it’s a thick pumpkin breakfast bowl, I find that it gets caught in the blades too much. And if your blender bottom doesn’t unscrew, it’s difficult to get the pumpkin yogurt out of the base of the blender to serve.

As I had some leftover pumpkin puree I figured Id jazz up those Oatmeal Pancakes and make them into Pumpkin Oatmeal Pancakes. Just as I was getting ready to whip those up though, my daughter started blabbing about some Yogurt Pancakes I once made, so I figured why not combine pumpkin and Greek yogurt?
Since I had several containers of all three fat varieties of FAGE Total Greek Yogurt already on hand, I opted to use FAGE Total 5%. I find FAGE Total to be so thick, so rich, so creamy and so versatile.
I not only enjoy FAGE Total with Apple Walnut Granola in the morning but also in curries and baked treats, and now, in these Pumpkin Greek Yogurt Pancakes and an accompanying Pumpkin Cream.
