These are two things you probably havent associated with sausages before, but this dish is vegan, super healthy, and so deliciously flavorful. The great thing about this recipe, too, is that you can customize it a little if there are other things youd prefer. Its easy enough to add some other herbs and spices if there’s a combination you love, or there are easy substitutions if you dont like rosemary.
Instead of rosemary, you can use sage, oregano, tarragon, or thyme and youll get much the same effect. You can also use whatever potatoes you want sweet potatoes might make an interesting new rendition!

Where can I get sausage seasoning from?Either make your own seasonings , or buy ones which are already made up. My favourites are the Premium Pork Sausage Seasoning from Butchers Sundries and the Premium Pork & Herb Sausage Seasoning from Tongmaster. Prices are excellent, and delivery is very fast. And they are suitable for vegans, of course.What can I use instead of coconut aminos?If youre fine with soy, then do feel free to use a tablespoon of light soy sauce instead. Or you could use Asian seasoning sauce, such as Golden Mountain, Healthy Boy, or Maggi.What can I use instead of buckwheat flour?Many people add chickpea flour to their seitan mix but I have found that buckwheat gives a more robust texture, which is especially useful if using seitan in casseroles, curries, and tagines, for example.
Can these sausages be made gluten-free?I have been asked repeatedly whether these can be made gluten-free, and the short answer is no! Gluten is the main ingredient, and its what gives these sausages their meaty texture and mouthfeel.
Do I Need To Do Anything Else
If you plan to use the sausages as an ingredient in, for example, a casserole or tagine, then no, they can just be cut up and used as is. If you’d like to serve them in their own right however, then gently warm and brown them in a skillet before serving. Don’t microwave them though – they can go hard very quickly!

How To Make Creamy Vegan Sausage & Pasta Skillet
This recipe in particular is a super crowd pleaser. Creamy pasta mixed together with vegan sausage…what’s not to like?
I used my fave vegan sausage – Beyond Sausage – but you could also use vegan ground beef or another sausage brand. I wouldn’t use soyrizo since it doesn’t fit the Italian flavor palate we are going for today. But just about anything else would work.
And another way we will get that “beef” flavor into this recipe is to use my favorite beef-less bouillon – Better Than Bouillon. You’ve heard me talk about this stuff a MILLION times. It is my go-to for so many meals – gravy, soup, pastas. I can’t recommend it enough. You can get it at Whole Foods or online here.
Other than that you just need a couple more ingredients to bring this dish together. Serve this with a big green salad and call it a night. Ready in 30 minutes from start to finish!

Pile On The Breakfast Pizza Toppings
I guess technically you could categorize these breakfast pizzas as white pizza, since were not putting any tomato sauce on our pies.
We are, however, adding two kinds of cheesemozzarella and Cheddarto get a gooey cheese pull in every bite.
While I love a square of good old American cheese product on my breakfast sandwiches, in this case, you need a blend of freshly shredded cheeses to really get the layers of flavor going.
Yes, I do recommend grating blocks of cheese in this instance. As much as I love bags of pre-shredded cheese for their convenience, each little shred in those bags is coated with cellulose, an edible non-caking agent.
This stops those little cheese shreds from completely melting and bonding to one another, and on this pizza, we really want a wonderful melted mélange of flavor.
Blended in with the cheese is browned and crumbled sausage. I like to use Impossible Savory Sausagetheyre not paying me to say this, but I absolutely think the flavor and texture is uncannily like the real thing.
But you can pick your favorite regular or plant-based sausage blend, whether that be an Italian-spiced loose sausage with fennel or a maple-flavored option.
The crowning glory to this breakfast pizza is the egg. Added midway through the pizza baking process, you get that authentic over easy-to-medium yolk with a perfectly set white.
What Is In A Vegan Sausage Roll
I recreated a plant-based version without buying a plant sausage. For this recipe, I used soy granules. This is such a versatile ingredient which lends it well to go any direction. I do not enjoy the taste of all the chilled vegan meat alternatives . Moreover, soy granules are super cheap and have a long shelf life, so you buy them once, and you do not have to worry about them expiring in your fridge .
Probably, you will have all the ingredients already at home except for the puff pastry. If you are really into cooking, make your own puff pastry, otherwise, just use store-bought which can be kept in the fridge or freezer .

Sausage Peppers + Onion Skillet Ingredients
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish, chopped
OPTIONAL SAUCE:If youre not using Beyond Meat sausage, you can create a light sauce in your skillet by adding the below ingredients.
- 250ml cup of vegan chicken stock OR a tablespoon of vegan chicken stock dissolved in 250ml a cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon of white spirit vinegar / apple cider vinegar
How To Reheat It
From the Freezer: Take the container out of the freezer and put it in the fridge to defrost for 24 hours. Then you can reheat it in the microwave or on the stovetop.
From the Fridge: Put the brown rice and sausage mixture into a bowl and warm it up in the microwave for a few minutes, or you can reheat it in a pot on the stovetop. You may need to add a little bit of water to the pot if the mixture is dry so it won’t stick to the bottom of the pan.

Sheet Pan Dinner Tips
Chop the veggies so theyll cook evenly. Halve the sprouts or slice them into quarters if theyre on the larger size. Chop the butternut squash about the same size as the sprouts. You can substitute a small sweet potato or yellow potato for the squash. But youll need to chop the pieces much smaller than the sprouts. Otherwise, they wont cook fast enough.
Seed and chop the apple half into larger chunks, this will keep it from becoming mushy.
For a fun finishing touch sprinkle the pan with dried cranberries, toasted pecans, or fresh herbs like parsley or thyme leaves.
Get creative with the spices. Thyme and rosemary give this dish a distinct autumn vibe that we really liked. But a spicy sausage paired with more garlic and some oregano would take it in a totally different direction.

In this time of transition, our Creamy Spicy Vegan Sausage Pasta with Spinach is exactly what I want and need. Fill up my bowl!
I lovingly blame my obsession with carbs on my parents . Growing up we had no shortage of bread, noodles, and pizza on our dinner table. To this day, these are the foods that bring me comfort and joy. To lighten up what could be a really heavy meal, I used whole-wheat noodles and covered them in cashew cream sauce. This stuff is so delicious and versatile. It reminds me of vegan alfredo sauce, which is never, ever a bad thing.
For protein you can use your favorite vegan sausage or swap it out for roasted broccoli or fresh peas. Both of these veggies are great sources of plant-based protein. This Spicy Vegan Sausage Pasta sauce is inspired by my Eggplant and Mushroom Rigatonione of my most popular recipes on the blog. It is such a delicious pasta recipe filled with vegetables and an incredible pasta sauce. I love this pasta recipe so much that I wanted to create another version that used a plant-based meat to create a hearty sauce.
This pasta sauce is layered with flavors. It’s complex from the red wine and balsamic vinegar and has a nice spicy kick.
I recently received the Impossible spicy ground sausage in my Imperfect Foods box. When I was thinking about how to use the sausage, I was inspired to make this spicy sausage pasta.
Adding the sausage to the pasta sauce takes the pasta to another level. This pasta recipe would be great for someone who has been vegan for years or someone who is looking to incorporate more plant-based meals into their diet.
The Impossible Spicy Sausage is completely made from plants. It has the savory taste of fresh sausage and has a spicy kick of chili and cayenne. What I love about this vegan sausage is that it has 43% less saturated fat when cooked compared to pork ground sausage and 47% less total fat.

My family loves this vegan sausage and pepper recipe just like this, but I also like to switch it up and serve it in a few different ways. You can:
- Skip the Rice: The spicy tomato sauce, bell peppers, onions, and plant-based sausage would be delicious mixed with pasta if you’re not in the mood for rice.
- Use Spicy Vegan Chorizo: Add some heat to this sausage, peppers, and rice skillet by using spicy vegan chorizo and you could add more cayenne pepper to taste.
- Make it Low-Carb: If you want to make a low-carb version of this recipe, you can substitute cauliflower rice for all of the brown rice or do half brown rice and half cauliflower rice. Trust me, no one will even know there’s cauliflower in the dish. It’s so delicious and it’s such an easy way to add extra hidden veggies to your plate.
