Easy Bacon and Peanut Butter Dog Biscuit Recipe

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown drain paper towels. Chop into bits.

Whisk together the peanut butter, milk, and egg until well combined.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour and the baking powder mix well.

Add the flour mixture to the peanut butter mixture until combined. Add the oats and bacon bits mix well. The dough is thick and heavy.

Working on a lightly floured surface, knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness.

Use a dog treat cutter to cut out the desired shape and place it onto the prepared baking sheet.

Place into oven and bake until the edges are golden brown, about 20-25 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.

Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator or freezer. My dog loves them right out of the freezer especially on hot days! Enjoy.

Why Homemade Bacon Dog Treats Are Better Than Begginstrips

Purina Beggin Strips for dogs is a popular store-bought treat. Unfortunately, those beggin bacon strips have food additives, artificial preservatives, and added color in them.

Beggin Strips ingredients include ground wheat, ground yellow corn, soy flour, soybean meal, oat meal, corn gluten meal, wheat gluten, soy protein concentrate, calcium propionate, phosphoric acid, sorbic acid, citric acid, and food colorings . The nutritional information shows 3.5% crude fat and 3.5% crude fiber.

Homemade dog treats with bacon dont have any of those extra additives or preservatives. They have simple ingredients you can get at any grocery store.

Bacon And Cheese Biscuits

Bacon and cheese are two flavours dogs cant resist, and these delicious treats combine both into irresistible biscuits!

Cheese is not just delicious, it is rich in calcium, protein, vitamins and healthy fats, and even healthier for your pup if you choose to use swiss, feta, part-skim mozzarella, parmesan, or cottage cheese.

Skip The Pumpkin Pie Mix

Depending on the time of year that youre doing your grocery shopping, there may be many more cans of pumpkin pie mix than 100% pure pumpkin on the shelves. Unfortunately, dogs cant eat everything we humans eat and its usually a good idea to limit their diet to ingredients you can trust.

With pumpkin pie mix, too many ingredients enter the equation. Most mixes include puréed pumpkin, spices , sugar, and other chemical additives. Not only are nutmeg and cloves toxic to dogs, but pumpkin pie mixes typically contain 6-10x more sugar than canned 100% pure pumpkin.

Put simply, 100% pure pumpkin is all your fur baby needs!

Diy Peanut Butter Bacon Banana Dog Treats

Make your pups something extra special with these DIY Peanut Butter Bacon Banana Dog Treats. Super easy, made with ingredients you already have on hand and your dogs are sure to love them!

Today we are celebrating a very special birthday in our house today. Its our dog, Dudleys, 5th birthday! And yes, round these parts we celebrate the dogs birthdays too. Ive always loved to go into the dog bakeries and buy them something extra special but a few years ago, the little dog bakery went out of business. So, I decided Id just start making my own. Now, they arent as fancy as the ones I use to purchase with the decorative icing and artistic styled writing, but if you ask the dogs, it makes no difference to them. All they know is they taste different from the ones that come out of the red box.

We had Parker put down in October of 2010, when my son was 4 months old. It was one of the hardest days of my life but it was also hard to see the little guy struggle each and every day and watch him in so much pain when it was time to use the bathroom. At the end of the day, it was the best decision for us and him and we know hes in good hands right now playing in doggie heaven with all his little friends. Hi Parker!

This was also super fun to do with my daughter. She loved helping me cut out the cookies. She also couldnt help but pose, complete with hand on the hip for these photos.

These dog treats are filled with bacon goodness and nutritious oats, and your pup is sure to go crazy for these!

I had a lot of bacon left after using only two slices for recipe testing. I figured Id put them to good use in these dog treats for Butters and Ollie that is, after Jason voiced his concerns that I should save the leftover bacon for his breakfast needs rather than serving them up to the dogs.

Even so, the dogs ended up getting the bacon, and boy were they in for a treat.

Now theres actually only two slices of bacon here. The majority of the bacon actually comes from the fat good old greasy bacon fat. That and whole wheat flour, old fashioned oats and pumpkin.

From there you can cut into your desired shapes. I used these personalized bones from Etsy, which just makes dog treats that much more fun to make.

I should also mention that Butters and Ollie not only enjoyed these but they both felt the need to eat these under the couch in complete darkness and privacy. Yes, I guess its just that good.

Finding The Right Consistency

The measurements of your add-ins arent as important as theconsistency. You dont want your dough too wet or too dry it should bemalleable enough to roll but not so dry that it crumbles. A crumblydough means your treats will fall apart, and a wet dough will still begooey when it finishes baking.

Add more water to dough thatstoo dry or crumbly. If its still falling apart after the water, addanother egg to bind the ingredients. Super wet dough is an easy fix too add flour by the spoonful until you reach the right consistency.

Homemade Peanut Butter & Bacon Dog Treat Recipe!

Peanut Butter, Banana, Bacon Dog Treats, simple homemade dog treats your dog will love!

I know, I know, I can relate everything to a Nicecream flavor But, this one is really fun! Last spring we were trying to come up with new bacon flavor, we had had Chocolate Covered Bacon and Salted Caramel Bacon, but we wanted something new. I remembered the PB, Banana, Bacon combo, it is famous for being Elviss favorite sandwich. And thus, The Elvis Nicecream flavor was born. It is a flavor you really have to commit to and you have to be a little adventurous. If you are a vanilla person, aka. you order just vanilla at the ice cream shop this is probably not the flavor for you. But, if you like a little culinary adventure, it is a great choice!

I like to pull this combo out whenever I have the opportunity, you will most definitely see it on the blog again in a human food capacity Since it was Valentines Day on Sunday I wanted to make Layla some heart-shaped treats . She has the most delicate stomach, we tried a little yogurt this weekend and paid for it the next day . So when I was thinking about a new treat recipe I realized that peanut butter, bananas and bacon are on her a-okay food list. Especially once these things are baked they do not seem to bother her stomach. So I give you The Elvis Dog Treats!

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  • In a large bowl, add banana, milk and peanut butter
  • Mix vigorously until peanut butter is combined

10 Super Simple Peanut Butter Dog Treat Recipes (Your dog will love ...

Ideally, you should choose a peanut butter with no artificial sweeteners or stabilizers. Beyond that, the most important thing is that you confirm that the peanut butter does not contain xylitol. In the market, you can get peanut butter specifically for dogs.

Xylitol, or birch sugar, is a sugar alcohol used for years to sweeten products due to its low caloric content. This ingredient is safe for human consumption, but can be fatal to dogs.

As explained for VCA Animal Hospitals, when a dog ingests a product with xylitol, this ingredient is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream. Like all sweeteners, it produces the release of insulin by the pancreas. However, in this case, the release is so fast and abrupt that it can cause profound hypoglycemia.

A drop in sugar can affect the functioning of the liver and end up being fatal.

Always pay attention to the ingredients you use in your homemade puppy treats. Avoid xylitol!
