What To Do With Leftover Pork Tenderloin

How to Make Easy Baked Pork Chops | The Stay At Home Chef

This tenderloin makes amazing leftovers. We prefer to serve leftovers cold as it’s easy to accidentally overcook meat when reheating it.

  • Make a pork sandwich with mayo, horseradish, red onion, and some arugula.
  • Slice it thin and put it on top of a big salad.
  • Use it instead of chicken in this chicken salad recipe.
  • Dice it and put it in some fried rice or this cauliflower fried rice. Add it at the very end, just long enough to warm it through.

How Long Should I Cook Pork Chops In The Oven

The cook time for baked pork chops will vary depending on how thick your chops are. That said, they wont need very long in the oven.

For example, boneless pork chops about 1-inch thick will need a 2 to 3 minute sear in the skillet and then 8 to 15 minutes of bake time in the oven.

Thinner chops will cook much quicker, and thicker chops may take a few minutes longer a temperature thermometer is your best bet for checking doneness.

Pork is done when the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you do not have a thermometer, you will know they are done if the juices run clear when cutting into the chops.

Can I Make This Ahead Of Time

You can definitely make this ahead of time for meal prep or as a way to quickly get dinner on the table during the week. To reheat these garlic butter baked pork chops without losing moisture, I suggest you use to oven to reheat them. Bake them for 5 to 10 minutes with a splash of stock in a 350F oven, covered with aluminum foil.

If you are at work or in a rush and need to reheat the pork chops in the microwave, you will have to add the pork chop and some stock to a microwave safe bowl, cover, and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes. The extra liquid and the cover will build steam and help keep the pork chop from drying out.

The Secret To Tender And Juicy Pork Chops

I get so many questions about cooking boneless pork chops in the oven, mostly from people who grew up eating dry pork and are hesitant to even try baked pork recipes.

When baking pork chops, a few simple rules guarantees great results. Here are my most important tips for succulent, juicy and tender pork chops.

Buy the Right Type of Pork Chop

For oven baking, the thickness of the chops matter, and thick chops are a must! Choose pork chops that are at least 1-inch thick. Thin chops tend to always dry up when baked. You can use both bone-in or boneless pork chops for this recipe with great success.

Cooking Times vs Internal Temperature

Cooking times vary greatly depending on the type of pork chop, the thickness of the meat and how hot your oven runs. The meat will stay juicy if you dont over cook it. Its as simple as that.

The secret to not overcooking pork chops is to check the meats internal temperature with an instant-read thermometer. Cooking times should be a guideline only.

To avoid a dry pork chop, check for doneness a few times during the last part of baking time . Insert the meat thermometer probe in the thickest part of the pork chop and remove the meat from the oven when the internal temperature reads 135-140 degrees F.

How Long To Bake Breaded Pork Chops At 350 F

Baking breaded pork chops will take 30 to 40 minutes at 350 F in the oven. The coating on the pork chops will make it take longer for the pork chops to fully cook, which is why breaded chops take longer.

In my opinion, 350 F is not the ideal temperature for cooking breaded pork chops, because you won’t get the brown color and crispy texture you desire. I recommend that you bake breaded pork chops at 400 F or higher instead.

Can You Make Baked Pork Chops Without Marinade

Yes, you can! If you dont use the marinade, use a brine instead:

  • Brine. Make the same brine I use for baked chicken breasts. Then, brine the chops for 15-30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.
  • Season. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper .
  • Cook. Proceed to sear and then bake pork chops as written on the recipe card below.

How Should Lamb Chops Be Cooked

Lamb chops and steaks should be cooked over a high heat, quickly, and can be quick-roasted, too, depending on how thick they are. Barbecuing, griddling, pan-frying and grilling are all methods that suit chops with an aim to getting lots of colour on the meat and any exposed fat sizzling until brown.

How Long To Bake Pork Chops

The best way to keep your pork chops from drying out is to bake them at high temperature for a shorter amount of time. I bake my pork chops at 425° F. At this temperature, 1-inch thick boneless pork chops take between 15-20 minutes to cook.

After your pork chops have cooked for about 12 minutes, you will want to check on them often. They will cook quickly at the end, so it is easy to over cook pork chops if you dont watch them closely.

You can use an instant read thermometer to check the internal temperature of the pork chops. This is the most accurate way to check that they are cooked through.

The USDA recommends that you cook pork chops to an internal temperature of at least 145° F and then allow the meat to rest for at least 3 minutes, for food safety. I cook my pork chops to an internal temperature of 145-150° F. After removing the pan from the oven, let the meat rest for about 5 minutes. The temperature of the meat will continue to rise about 5 degrees due to carryover cooking.

    • The best way to tell when pork chops are done is to measure their internal temperature with an instant read thermometer. According to the USDA, pork chops should be cooked to 145° F and then allowed to rest for 3 minutes before consuming.
    • The exact cook time will depend on the thickness of the pork chops. I recommend using pork chops that are at least 1 inch thick for best results .
    • Bone-in pork chops work best in this recipe. The bone keeps the meat from drying out. You may use boneless pork chops, but be sure that they are at least 1 inch thick and be careful to not overcook them.
    • If the gravy gets too thick you can stir in a little more broth to thin it out.

How To Cook Perfect Pan Seared Pork Chops

These pan seared pork chops are similar to pan fried pork chops, but healthier. The difference is that we arent coating the pork chops in flour and we are using much less oil. With the pan searing technique, you dont need flour or a lot of oil. Cooking in a hot skillet is enough to create a delicious crust on the pork chops.

I used boneless pork loin chops when I made this recipe. You can also use bone in pork chops. Bone in pork chops may take a few extra minutes to cook because of the bone.

    1. Let the pork chops come to room temperature.

Take your pork chops out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before you will start cooking them. Taking the chill off of the meat helps it to cook more evenly through the center.

    2. Season the pork chops.

The honey mustard pan sauce will add a lot of flavor so you dont need a lot of seasoning on the pork chops. Youll sprinkle and rub just a little bit of smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper over the pork before adding it to the hot pan. Or, use your favorite spice rub!

    3. Sear the first side of the pork chops in a hot skillet.

Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. I use my cast iron skillet because I love the way that it cooks meats evenly, but you can use any large skillet. You want the pan to be hot before you add the pork chops so you can get that nice golden crust.

    4. Flip and cover.

    5. Do not overcook your pork chops!

    6. Let the pork chops rest.

    7. Make the honey mustard pan sauce.
