Deep Fried Breaded Pork Chops

Best Fried Pork Chop Recipe! How to Cook Pork Chops!

Deep Fried Breaded Pork Chop is a quick dish to prepare for lunch. It works well with mashed potato, steamed veggies, and even rice. I like mine with gravy either chicken gravy or white gravy will do. Sometimes, I eat it with banana ketchup along with rice.

One of the benefits of deep-frying breaded pork chop is the ability to cook the outer part equally. Depending on the heat applied and the amount of time frying, you can have a piece of pork chop that is uniformly golden and crispy in the outside while tender and juicy in the inside.

This dish is best if served crispy. That means that you have to serve it immediately after cooking. If you are planning to eat it later or bring it with you to eat somewhere, it will be best not to completely cover the container so that steam can come-out . You might also want to let the pork chop cool down for a while before putting it in your lunch bag.

I just remembered, there are times when I only want it with Worcestershire sauce. This sauce is what I usually use with Maxs fried chicken.

How To Dredge Pork Chops

The flour dredge will ensure that you have a crispy, flavorful coating on each pork chop. Once cooked, each bite will have you wondering how you lived this long without this recipe.

I personally like to use a self rising flour for more lift on the pork chops. The buttermilk wash also assists in creating a super crispy crunchy batter on the outside.

TIP: For easier clean up, I opted to use a large plastic bag to dredge the pork chops in seasoned flour. Alternatively, you could mix the seasoned flour into a large bowl and individually dip/coat each piece.

If youre looking for a tender and juicy pork chop, look no further. Weve all eaten our fair share of overcooked, dry pork chops, and we are not about that. This recipe is also packed with flavor, which you dont always expect from a quick meal.

Pork chops are amazing on their own, but with a milk gravy on top, these are downright addicting. Serve it up with creamy mashed potatoes, and your favorite veggie on the side, and youre family will go nuts. You might want to make a couple extra pork chops, because one just wont be enough!

How To Make Pan Fried Pork Chops:

In a shallow bowl or dish, combine flour, corn starch, lemon pepper seasoning and cajun seasoning. Mix it all together until combined.

Get the oil heated in the skillet . You need it nice and hot. With a paper towel, pat the pork chops until they are dry

Sprinkle chops lightly with a bit of kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Don’t be too heavy handed here because the lemon pepper and cajun seasoning also have salt and pepper in it as well.

Dredge the pork chops in the flour mixture and shake off excess flour. Just put them on a plate until you are ready to fry.

Once you got all the chops floured, add the two tablespoons of butter to the skillet and let it melt in the oil.

Add pork chops to the skillet. Don’t overcrowd the pan. If your skillet is small, you may need to only cook 2 at a time. Adjust the heat to medium. My cast iron skillet does a good job of hanging onto heat and distributing it evenly. So make a judgement call, if they are cooking too fast just turn it down a bit.

Pork can dry out if you cook it too long so just monitor the progress and if you aren’t sure about doneness, just poke them with a fork or knife and if the juices run clear then they are done. Serve these right away with your favorite sides.

How Do You Keep Them Moist

The key to moist pork chops is all in the sear. When you sear the pork chops, or any meat, it allows the juices to stay inside the meat while cooking.

You will also want to let your pork chops rest after cooking. When you slice into a freshly cooked piece of meat, all the juice will come running out. Allowing any meat to rest after cooking allows for the meat itself to relax and soften and keeps the juices inside the meat.

So if you want tender and juicy pork chops, dont forget to let them rest on a plate after cooking for about 5 minutes. I like to place a piece of foil on top to keep them warm while they rest.

How Long To Pan Fry Pork Chops

The total cooking time will vary depending on the size and thickness of your pork chops, on the temperature of the meat when you put it in the skillet, and on the temperature of your oil and butter. As a result, a meat thermometer is always the best way to know when your pork chops are perfectly cooked. You’re looking for an internal temperature of 140°F – 145°F, which will still look slightly pink in the center.

For thick-cut bone-in pork chops, this will take about 7-10 minutes per side. Smaller bone-in pork chops will cook in about 5-6 minutes per side. You can also use boneless pork chops in this recipe you’ll likely just need to reduce the overall cooking time slightly. Be careful not to overcook the meat, or it will become tough and dry.

How To Tenderize Tough Pork Chops

Best Southern Fried Pork Chops recipe | How to fry Pork Chops in a cast iron skillet

Pork chops, when cooked correctly, are incredibly tender and juicy. Fail to properly tenderize the meat, or overcook it, and your dinner is suddenly dry, chewy, and tough.

To prevent that from happening, youll want to start this recipe by using a mallet to really break down the meat and make the pork chops more tender prior to the marinating and cooking process.

Id also recommend keeping a meat thermometer on hand. Pork chops can vary in thickness, which also determines how long it takes to cook. Overcooking happens quicker than you think. A well done pork chop is fully cooked when it reads 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not exceed that temperature.

Why Do You Need To Pat The Pork Chop Dry

Before we get started on the ingredients for breading, you will want to pat the pork chop dry. Using a paper towel, gently pat the pork chop and try to get as much of the excess moisture off the chop as possible.

This is KEY to making the breading stick on the pork chop. If you skip this step, you may have a messy breading situation on your hands as you get further into the recipe, so I highly recommend it.

In a bowl, mix together all the breading ingredients: flour, seasoned salt, black pepper, steak seasoning, and salt and pepper as desired.

Dip each pork chop in the seasoning mix, making sure each side is completely covered.

Make sure to push the pork chop down into the seasoning to really coat the entire chop- be aggressive! Seasoning is our friend in this recipe.

Using A Cast Iron Pan For Pork Chops

Love & Best Dishes: Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen Fried Pork Chops Recipe

My mother likes to use a cast iron pan to cook pork chops. A cast iron pan may be slower to heat initially, but it holds its heat well. Once the chops get a good sear on both sides, mom turns off the heat and lets the pork chops continue to cook gently in the residual heat.

This approach saves energy and helps prevent the chops from over-cooking. After a couple minutes the cooling pan helps keep the pork chops warm.
