Easy Oven Baked Pork Chops (Juicy and Tender)

Pork chop cooking times will vary based on their thickness and the oven temperature. Bone-in and boneless pork chops also have different cooking times.

Bone-In at 400 degrees F

  • 1/2 inch thick: 12 – 14 minutes
  • 1-inch thick: 18 – 20 minutes
  • 1 1/2 in thick: 22 – 25 minutes

Boneless at 400 degrees F

  • 1/2 inch thick pork chop: 10 – 12 minutes
  • 1-inch thick pork chop: 15 – 18 minutes
  • 1 1/2 inch thick: 20 -22 minutes

You should bake pork chops uncovered. You know they are done when they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees. If you overcook them, they will dry out and become tougher.

How To Bake Pork Chops In The Oven:

Step 1. Make Your Own Homemade Seasoning for Pork Chops

In a small bowl, combine black pepper, cumin, paprika, grain dijon mustard, brown sugar, and a small amount of oil.

Step 2. Prepare the Pork Chops

  • Rinse the bone-in pork chops in cold water to get rid any bone fragment and debris then pat dry with paper towels.

Step 3. Preheat the oven to 450°F

Step 4. Pan-sear the Pork Chops

  • Season both sides of pork chops with salt and black pepper.
  • In a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat, add oil. Cook the pork chops for about 2 minutes per side.

Step 5. Cover Meat with the Spice Blend

Brush both sides of pork chops with the homemade seasoning.

Step 6. Oven Bake

Transfer the skillet to the oven, cook the pork chops for about 6-10 minutes depending on the thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 140°F.

And then, as I mentioned above, using the help of a cooking thermometer to measure the internal temperature of the pork and ensure that it has reached the magical 145°F . It may sound complicated, but I promise you its easy peasy. Simply:

  • Brine the pork. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and kosher salt and stir until the salt is dissolved. Submerge the pork chops in the saltwater and soak for at least 15-30 minutes, or up to 4 hours. Remove the pork chops and rinse them off with cold water. Then pat them dry with paper towels and place on a clean plate.
  • Season the pork. Brush the pork chops on both sides with olive oil. Then sprinkle with your desired dry seasonings.
