One night of martinis is worth a thousand pictures. Isnt that the old saying? Maybe not, but weve certainly lived through many unforgettable parties while sipping very dry martinis into the wee hours. My favorite thing about these notoriously strong cocktails is their versatility. Sweet, savory, gin, or vodka, these deliciously stiff drinks always pack a punch.

My love for pear cocktails started years ago. Ive even been known to simply shake Absolut Pears with ice, pour it into a glass, and drink it. But an amazing, balanced craft cocktail is always the preferable method of pear vodka delivery. There are hundreds of good pear cocktails out there, from shots, to martinis, to party punches. One of my long-time favorite pear vodka drinks is actually a take on the mojito. These days, Im totoally obsessed with the pear martini. While there are several other elderflower liqueurs available on the market, St. Germain by far is the best known.

Here I’ve used in in a vodka martini. Gin is equally good in this St. Germain cocktail and cucumber vodka is also a popular choice. Either can be swapped evenly for the vodka in this recipe.

My favorite pear cocktail is a French Pear Martini. It’s strong, sweet, and so delicious! I absolutely adore the flavors of both pear and elderflower so this martini hits all of the marks for me. How To Make A Pear Martini

  • Prepare your garnishes by slicing a lemon into wedges and the pear into rounds. To prevent pear from discoloring, squeeze a lemon over cut slices.
  • To prepare martini glasses, run a lemon wedge around the rim and dip into sugar.
  • In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine St. Germain and Pear Vodka. Shake vigorously until well chilled.
  • Strain into prepared martini glass and top with champagne.
  • Garnish with a round of pear and a festive stir stick.
  • Simple Syrup Is A Must

St-Germain Elderflower Cocktail Recipe | Drink Ideas | Happiest Hour

I use simple syrup in a lot of my cocktails. Its a clear sugar syrup consisting of equal parts water and sugar, melted on the stove on low heat. Its a universal cocktail sweetener that easily dissolves in your drink, unlike table sugar. You can buy it everywhere, but it only takes about 10 minutes to make at home.

I highly recommend making up a jar of simple sugar and storing in the fridge for cocktails such as this. Having simple syrup on hand makes whipping up the pear martini a breeze.

Use high quality ingredients. When you are making cocktails with a short ingredient list, you can definitely taste the difference.

Use enough ice. The more ice you have in the shaker, the easier it is to get it chilled.

Shake your martini well. Nobody likes a lukewarm martini. The longer you shake it, the colder it is. We recommend at least 30 seconds.

Use a pretty glass. Everything tastes better when it looks good. It’s easy to elevate your drink game using a fun glass.

Garnish before serving. A quarter wheel of lemon adds a perfect finishing touch. It’s the little things that up your home bartending skills.

Can I Serve A Pear Martini In A Martini Glass

Of course, you can serve the martini in whatever glass you wish! You may not know that the earliest martinis were not made in martini glasses, but a glass more like a coupe.

In fact, I love the way an article from Imbibe Magazine describes the martini glass, “one of those objects appealing in concept but disappointing in reality…” I couldn’t agree more.

Do you have martini glasses in your cabinet? I do. My husband insists on his martini being up, very dry, usually with an olive, and in a martini glass.

I thought about sharing the recipe with you in a post but never did. I’ll add it here. It’s chilled gin. That’s it. I don’t know why he orders it as a martini when we’re out. He should just ask for Tanquerey chilled, in a martini glass. But back to the glass.

Every martini glass we have ever owned is chipped. It could be because it gets a lot of use, but more likely, it’s because it’s awkward.

Regardless, it’s not quite the same sipping a martini in another glass, or a cosmopolitan for that matter. It’s just festive, isn’t it?

I like serving cocktails in flutes, too. I think they are equally as festive.

Enjoy this French pear martini a delicately sweet and floral tasting martini that pairs together pear flavored vodka and St. Germain Elderflower liqueur.

Have you ever had the pleasure of a French pear martini?

This cocktail is a delicate yet sweet and floral tasting martini that pairs together two great spirits, pear flavored vodka and St. Germain Elderflower liqueur.

In fact, this popular cocktail is found on bar menus as a French Pear Martini.

So when I see it offered I always order it. At home, my twist on this new found cocktail favorite is called an Elderflower Peartini.

Im a big fan of St. Germain Elderflower liqueur. Have you ever tried it?

While it is pricey, it lasts a long time and adds the perfect floral notes to any cocktail.

I happened to pick up a gift set of six 50 ml bottles of Grey Goose flavored vodkas when I was at the grocery store liquor department last.

I was thinking the flavors would all pair well with elderflower liqueur. So far so good. This particular gift set featured melon, cherry, pear, orange and citron flavored vodkas.

Im not one to purchase an entire bottle of one particular flavor so this gift set was the perfect way to experiment.

I like an afternoon cocktail every once in a while. But, I dont drink a lot of mixed drinks and we certainly dont have a full bar in our home.

We keep our liquor cabinet simply stocked with the basics.

For this cocktail I picked up a bottle of pear nectar in the juice aisle of the grocery store.

We were at my Sisters house on the Fourth of July enjoying the pool you see in the background.

It was a 90 degree day and we were looking for a light and refreshing drink.

Ive mentioned before that my Sister is the family bartender. I shared her Lemon Drop Martini that is a family favorite.

But I have to say this Pear and Elderflower Martini is my new favorite! The mix of the sweet and flowery is seriously amazing.

You know when you find the perfect bottle of wine that has a mix of all the flavors you love?

That is how I felt when I tasted this!

The fact that it needs only 3 ingredients is even better. This was my first time trying this martini and I plan to pick up the ingredients as a treat for my birthday next week.

What Does Elderflower Liqueur Taste Like

The flavors elderflowers lend to the liqueur are complex. There are definitely citrus notes, but also elements akin to pear or lychee and well. There is a slight floral character to the spirit, but it is quite subtle, unlike many culinary flowers.

Pinpointing a specific flavor profile for liqueurs distilled with elderflower like St. Germain is elusive. This is part of the allure, and why elderberry cordials are so coveted.

This is a lovely mixed drink anytime of year, but I especially enjoy it in the spring and summer months. It is a great before or after dinner cocktail as it is pretty gentle on the palette.

A fabulous drink at a cocktail party, as it’s not too harsh. This elderflower martini pairs well with a large array of hor d’oeuvres.

Why Is This The Best Pear Martini

Because it has a really profound and authentic pear taste.

The famous pear martini consists of pear vodka , fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and elderflower liqueur. Ive tried variations that include lime juice in place of lemon juice and ginger liqueur in place of elderflower liqueur, but this is my personal favorite variation.

    Whats In A Pear Martini:

    • pear vodka
    • freshly squeeze lemon juice
    • bitters

With fall quickly approaching I thought pear was more than appropriate. Plus, it gave me an excuse to pick up some pear vodka. However, to be honest, this Pear Martini would be delicious any time of the year.

Ive always found the flavor of pears to be pretty incredible even though I rarely eat them. Thats kind of weird, right? I suppose it makes it an extra special treat when I do have them.

Anyway, this martini is stellar. If you love the flavor of pears, then I promise you will adore this. The pear vodka has such a bright and crisp pear flavor. It works perfectly with a splash of lemon juice and the St. Germain. It was meant to be!

Tell me that doesnt look and sound delicious.

And did you spot anything else in these pictures?

I used my DIY gold magnetic letters and my new vintage cocktail shaker. Total perfection, right? This is why I make and buy these things. They make photo shots like this special and personal.

Oh, and if you want to see a little behind-the-scenes shot of how I photograph this stuff, check out this image on my Instagram feed.

Now, while you sip on this delicious Pear Martini, Im off to Pittsburgh, PA tomorrow for a fabulous and fun-filled long weekend with my friends. Anyone live in the Pittsburgh area?
