Gluten Dairy & Egg Free Pumpkin Pie Recipe

Pumpkin pie is the quintessential Thanksgiving dessert. And this pumpkin pie is very likely the most allergen-friendly version I can think of. It is gluten free, dairy free, and egg free. But it is really delicious with all the flavor of classic pumpkin pie. Trust me, no one will miss the gluten, dairy, or eggs!

And it so easy! With the exception of about 10 minutes in the oven to bake the crust, this recipe sets up in the refrigerator, leaving your oven free for so many other things like turkey, dressing, sweet potato casserole and such.

I put a little twist to the crust using ground up gluten free gingersnaps but if gingersnaps arent your thing, feel free to substitute with gluten free graham cracker crumbs or really any gluten free cookie crumbs you like. You could also prepare this is a pre-baked traditional gluten free pie crust.

I used Wholesome Organic sugar for this recipe. You can use regular granulated sugar or coconut palm sugar if you want to lighten the glycemic index on your dessert.

What To Serve With This Honey Mustard Sheet Pan Dinner

Gluten Free, Egg Free, Dairy Free Cornbread

Since the pan already has the starch and protein we just serve it with some canned green beans for ease. You could of course, use fresh and roast them with the chicken and potatoes, but Id rather save the room on the pan for more potatoes. Im Idahoan, if you couldnt tell

Or, you could serve it with some other vegetable. A side salad, beets, or asparagus might be nice as well. Really, whatever side youd prefer, you cant go wrong.

Its always nice when the recipe makes most of the dinner for you, so you only have to worry about a side dish or two.

Is This Meal Plan Suitable For Baby Led Weaning

All recipes are suitable for baby led weaning, but you may want to adjust how you serve each dish depending on the stage of weaning your baby is at. If youre just getting started with introducing solids, check out my Beginners Guide to Dairy Free Weaning for lots of information and tips.

When cooking family meals for a baby, dont add any extra salt when cooking , and use low or very low salt stock, for example Kallo. You may also prefer to adjust spice levels in some dishes, depending on what level of spice your baby is used to!

Its worth noting that this meal plan does contain some common allergens for example, there are meals which contain fish and nuts. Advice regarding introducing common allergens when weaning tends to be to introduce them one at a time, starting with a small amount and early in the day if possible. If you have any reason to suspect an allergy to a particular food, talk to a medical professional before introducing it.

With an elimination diet, the more foods you remove, the harder it can become. And honestly, it can feel overwhelming. Todays blog post is focused on how to go egg free and nut free, after already removing gluten, dairy, and most processed foods.

Changing our food to heal is something that my family is comfortable with, and being gluten free and dairy free is within my comfort zone. However, it has taken time and some diligence. I have been gluten free for about 7 years, and dairy free on and off for 5 years. Once I discovered that I felt better without eating gluten, I learned to become more in tune with my body and how different foods make me feel.

Then when my now 4 year old began struggling with eczema, I knew from experience, and intuitively as a mom, that his diet needed to change in order to heal. Now that Im breastfeeding again and my baby has had some gut issues, I have again adjusted my diet. I am currently not eating gluten, dairy, acidic foods, peanuts, and most eggs. Cutting eggs has not been the easiest for me, but it has given me a sense of compassion for those who have stopped eating them in order to heal from eczema and other inflammatory issues. I have been doing more research to learn about how to eat gluten-, dairy-, egg-, and nut-free, and I wanted to share some of those here.

Where I spend most of my time: in the kitchen The more you cook this way, the easier it will become!

Since its the winter and I worry about my kitchen being too cold to proof I was looking on Americas test kitchen for proofing ideas. In the comments I kept seeing this thing about leaving your oven light bulb on. So, I went straight to the source and they even recommend it as well. They do mention leaving the light bulb on for an hour beforehand, but I didnt want this recipe too involved. *Our allergies, while severe and that get re-tested yearly, are such that we can go strictly by whats on the label. I do not call companies to see what things are derived from, or call manufacturers to see about potential cross contact. If your allergies require you to do so, please do your own homework. I cannot assure you of any ingredients safety, only you can do that. I simply share what works for our family.
