Taco Bell Zesty Chicken Border Bowl Recipe

Taco Bell Rolled Chicken Tacos – Guac, Salsa & Queso Copycat Recipe

Several years ago Taco Bell had an item on their menu called the Zesty Chicken Border Bowl. This was easily one of my favorite items on the menu but sadly they decided to remove it and it returned. The best part this bowl was the Zesty Sauce that came with it, it was very similar to a spicy ranch perhaps. When trying a recipe for a sauce to go on chicken, it immediately reminded me of the sauce that came with the Zesty Chicken Bowl, so I decided to attempt to re-create these bowls at home. The Zesty Chicken Bowl basically consists of refried beans, seasoned rice, lettuce, cheese, grilled chicken, red tortilla strips, Pico de Gallo, and the zesty chicken bowl dressing.

How To Make A Taco Bell Quesadilla

  • Heat the skillet: Put a large skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Add the sauce: Spread the Taco Bell Quesadilla Sauce over the tortilla shell.
  • Cook the quesadilla: Spray the skillet with some cooking spray. Add the prepared tortilla shell to the skillet, then top it with cheese, chicken, and a little more cheese. Top it with another tortilla shell.
  • Flip: Cook the quesadilla for 2 minutes on each side. I love to cook my quesadillas on low heat and covered.
  • How To Choose The Perfect Avocado

Avocados arent cheap, and choosing a bad one is like throwing away money, and nobody wants to do that. Here are three tricks for finding the best ones:

  • Press your finger lightly against the stem-end of the avocado. If the stem gives slightly, then springs back, the avocado is ripe.
  • Avoid any avocados that have dark or soft spots on the skin.
  • Try not to buy bagged avocados. Buying in bulk may cost less per avocado, but there is a good chance at least one of them will be past its prime.

Tips For Serving And Storing Taco Bell Chicken Power Bowl

    • This recipe is even better with beef. Grill a skirt or hangar steak and slice it thinly across the grain.
    • Store guacamole underwater. As strange as it sounds, if you plan on making the guacamole ahead of time, put it in a bowl and cover it with a thin layer of water over the top. The water keeps mashed avocados from turning brown. Pour off the water before using the guacamole in the recipe.

Can I Bake Rolled Chicken Tacos Instead Of Frying Them

Yes. Rolled chicken tacos can certainly be baked instead of fried. You might choose to do this as a healthier option, or maybe you prefer to save those calories for dipping in sour cream instead. Whatever your reason, to proceed with baking, place them in 1 layer on a baking sheet and place in a 400F oven for about 10-15 minutes, until golden and crispy.

    Tips For Making Chicken Quesadillas:

  • Microwave assembled quesadillas for 30 seconds before toasting, this speeds up the toasting step, without drying out the shell.
  • When cooking the quesadillas, cook over medium-low heat to prevent the tortillas from burning.
  • Serve quesadillas with all your favorite taco toppings. You can plan your quesadilla bar ahead of time and keep your toppings stored in food containers until, serving time. Favorite add ons include beans, jalapeno, lettuce, onions, seasoned rice, tomatoes, and sheet pan Fiesta Taco Bell Potatoes.
  • To save time pick up cooked chicken breast meat from the store. Cooked chicken meat choices include rotisserie chicken, grilled and fully cooked chicken breast strips , or canned chicken. Chicken quesadillas are also a great way to use up leftover meat! I always like to marinate my chicken breast meat in a baking soda solution for tender meat.
  • Keep quesadilla sauce inside a clear squeeze bottle, for easier use. Creamy Jalapeno Sauce can keep up to 6 months in the fridge if your ranch dressing is not outdated. Note:homemade ranch dressing will differ in storing time. I use prepared Hidden Valley ranch dressing for the quesadilla sauce.
  • Taco Bell Quesadillas are cooked on a dry commercial grill press. To copycat, this cooking technique, use a griddle or large pan that can easily fit a large flour tortilla. Make sure the cooking surface is fully preheated and hot before placing the quesadilla down, otherwise it can stick.

    How To Make Chalupa Shells

In a few simple steps, your chalupas will be ready!

    Heat the Oil

Add 2 of canola oil to a large skillet and heat to 350 degrees.

    Prepare the Chalupa Dough

In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, baking powder, salt, and shortening. Use a fork to mix the ingredients together. Add the milk and use your hands or a wooden spoon to mix to form a dough ball.

    Divide and Form Chalupas

Turn dough out onto a floured surface and roll with a rolling pin flat to smooth. Form dough back into a ball. Divide dough into 8 equal sections and roll each section into a ball. Use a rolling pin to roll each dough ball out into a circle about 4 in diameter.

    Fry the Chalupa Shell

Use a fork to generously poke holes all over the chalupa shell to prevent it from getting too puffy. Use tongs and fold the chalupa shell in half, letting one-half fry in the oil.

Hold the chalupa into shape until it starts to turn light gold, about 30 seconds.

Flip over to cook the other side for 30 seconds.

Flip, and fry for 15 seconds, then flip one last time and fry for 15 seconds.

Remove from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate.

    Repeat with remaining chalupas.

Taco Bell’s Latest Tostada Features A Giant Cheez

Some brands just carry more pop culture clout. Taco Bell has kept fans entertained with Mexican Pizza drama and Cantina drag brunches. Cheez-It sees its crackers baked into cakes from Stephanie Izard and teams up for wine collabs. Now, these two brands have announced a new partnership that is guaranteed to grab a lot of attention: the Big Cheez-It Tostada.

As the name suggests, this new menu item starts with a base of a very Big Cheez-It, which is 16-times larger than a normal Cheez-It, with the same taste and texture. From there, Taco Bell finishes it off tostada-style with seasoned beef, reduced-fat sour cream, diced tomatoes, lettuce, and shredded cheddar cheese.

“There are few things that everyone can agree on but the iconic flavors from Taco Bell menu items and Cheez-It snacks appeal to all,” stated Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s chief food innovation officer. “We’re thrilled about this new concept with Cheez-It, which gives our fans the chance to experience the real cheese and crunch they love from both of our brands in a whole new way.”

One problem: The two new items are available now, but only as part of a two-week limited test run at just one Taco Bell location: 2222 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine, California. Asked when the rest of the country might see it, a Taco Bell spokesperson told me, “As with any test item, there’s no guarantee it will be available nationwide, but when it comes to Taco Bell innovation, we never say never.”

Taco Bell Copycat Chicken Chalupa Supreme

This copycat Taco Bell chicken chalupa supreme has all the flavors we love about the chain version, but its even better! This chicken chalupa recipe uses real, fresh ingredients to deliver flavors that are far more authentic than the Taco Bell version and even tastier, if I do say so myself.

Ive been a fan of Taco Bell as far back as I can remember. Years ago, my husband and I used to spend about $50 and bring home 3 or 4 big bags full of many different kinds of burritos and tacos.

I would set them all up on our dining room table in piles on plates and platters and game day or with UFC game night would begin.

I did not do any cooking or baking at all. Clean-up could not have been easier.

Now, however, we want more control over ingredients, and frankly homemade always tastes better. This Copycat Taco Bell Chicken Chalupa Supreme recipe is worth the effort.

Buying or going through a drive-thru is definitely easier and faster but these chalupas taste so much better. Youll make them over and over again.

Youll do what I do. Sometimes make them with ground beef , beans, or steak. You wont always make them with chicken.

This flatbread is prepared and filled with seasoned meat of choice , sour cream, fresh shredded lettuce, a blend of cheeses, and fresh diced tomatoes.

Tips For Making The Best Tacos

  • To break down the taco meat really finely, use a potato masher or a meat masher. Or, use your spatula and take your time breaking up the ground beef.
  • After youve stirred in the tomato juice and cornmeal, youll need to let the taco filling bubble away for a good 10 to 15 minutes. If you try to serve your ground beef tacos right away, the filling will be too soupy.
  • Make your life easier by putting all the taco toppings into serving dishes and let your family top their tacos as they see fit.

    Tips On Cooking Quesadillas

You dont have to have a lot of experience in the kitchen to make quesadillas. In fact, it is an excellent dish to teach someone new to cooking to make on his own. As straightforward as it is, there are a few tricks that can significantly improve the results.

  • Use the largest flour tortilla that will fit flatly on the bottom of your skillet. Most manufacturers label them as burrito-sized.
  • Start with a hot cooking surface. Heat a dry skillet or, better yet, a griddle pan over medium-high heat. Dont put the tortilla on a cold cooking surface, or it is much more likely to stick.
  • Cook the tortilla on the first side until it slides easily, then turn it over. Add an eighth of the shredded mixed cheeses to the bottom half of the tortilla. Lay the chicken on top of the cheese and cover with another eighth of the cheese mixture.
  • Let the cheese start to melt before spreading the quesadilla sauce on the top portion of the tortilla and folding it over the melting cheese and chicken.
  • Flip over and cook until slightly browned on both sides.

How To Make Rolled Chicken Tacos Filling

There are several ways the meat can be cooked for the rolled chicken tacos filling. However, for this post, we have chosen to grill the meat and take advantage of the beautiful spring day. It can be baked, pan fried, slow cooked in the crockpot, and the easiest way would be to just pick up a rotisserie chicken that is already prepared, at your local grocery store. Whatever cooking method you choose, weve included instructions for you below. The same is true for the cut of chicken you choose to use for this recipe. Breast, thighs, legs, a whole chicken, each one will work. Some people dont like to pick through bones and opt to use a breast and thats fine. Our preference for this recipe is to use 2 thigh quarters, with skin on, because they include brown meat that is tasty and quite juicy, and they are so delicious when cooked on the grill.
