Serving St Germain Vodka Cocktail

Rogue Peach | VODKA COCKTAIL RECIPE | Peaches & St Germain

This is a lovely mixed drink anytime of year, but I especially enjoy it in the spring and summer months. It is a great before or after dinner cocktail as it is pretty gentle on the palette.

A fabulous drink at a cocktail party, as it’s not too harsh. This elderflower martini pairs well with a large array of hor d’oeuvres.

Intermediate: The Cucumber Cooler

Light drinks don’t necessarily have to be sweet or fruity, as this cucumber-mint cocktail proves. Vodka and lime form the backbone, while the St-Germain adds an intriguing but unintrusive floral element.

Instructions: In a cocktail shaker, muddle three cucumber slices. Add five to eight fresh mint leaves, an ounce of lime juice, an ounce of St-Germain, and an ounce and a half of vodka. Add ice, shake like crazy, and strain into a tall glass over fresh ice. Add a splash of club soda on top. Garnish with more cucumber and mint.

What Kind Of Alcohol Is St Germain

St Germain & Cranberry Cocktail

If youve never had St. Germain, its an elderflower liqueur.

  • It was originally created in 2007 , and it was named after the St. Germain-Des-Prés area of Paris.
  • Its naturally flavored, and each bottle can contain up to 1,000 elderflower blossoms .
  • St. Germain tastes pleasantly floral, lightly herbal, sweet without being sugary, and is surprisingly versatile. Think of it like an elderflower syrup, but better.

Im never one to add a big, fancy bottle of alcohol to my home bar that Ill only use once or twice a year.

Ive become a St. Germain person, however, and I truly find myself using it often in a variety of cocktail recipes.

What Does Elderflower Liqueur Taste Like

The flavors elderflowers lend to the liqueur are complex. There are definitely citrus notes, but also elements akin to pear or lychee and well. There is a slight floral character to the spirit, but it is quite subtle, unlike many culinary flowers.

Pinpointing a specific flavor profile for liqueurs distilled with elderflower like St. Germain is elusive. This is part of the allure, and why elderberry cordials are so coveted.

    St Germain Cocktail Recipe

Cranberry is a hugely popular addition to cocktails. Its bright and vibrant, and the sweet-tart taste pairs perfectly with everything from vodka to rum.

But cranberry can be a little too sour for those of us who like things on the sweeter side.

This Cocktail Is A Luscious Combination Of Vodka Blackberries Lemon And St Germain Liqueur Its Beautiful Too

When I first published this cocktail almost ten years ago, I named it The Caberet Cocktail, same as the restaurant where I first enjoyed the libation. Ten years later I know that no one is searching for it, the restaurant is even gone, so were here again, more organically as a Vodka, Blackberry & St. Germain Liqueur Cocktail Its too good to be lost in the archives forever.

I was sad to hear of the demise of Colt & Gray in downtown Denver, it was a beautiful place and we always enjoyed their food and cocktails. They closed their doors in December of 2019, so before the Covid curve simply victims of rising rents in a pricey part of downtown.

On that first visit, I was invited to join Sarah Gore, a local marketing rep we had talked on the phone yet I know she wondered if I was really real and so that day, I decided to make an extra effort to arrive at the #twEATdrink event she had pulled together in downtown Denver.

I unabashedly admit Im a suburban girl and offer no apologies for that. The effort to get to Sarahs event was predicated by my schedule and getting out of my office before the rush hour traffic is in full on mode.

If I dont plan that wellwell, then there is no point stop and go traffic is one of the things in this world that drives me BONKERS.

We met in the bar and Sarah was everything I expectedwarm and friendly and surrounded by a circle of people for an evening of socializing with both old and new friends brought together by the magic of Twitter.

    Elderflower Martini With St Germain

While there are several other elderflower liqueurs available on the market, St. Germain by far is the best known.

Here I’ve used in in a vodka martini. Gin is equally good in this St. Germain cocktail and cucumber vodka is also a popular choice. Either can be swapped evenly for the vodka in this recipe.

Needless to say, its a little bit expensive. But with tropical fruity notes like peach and citrus, along with honeysuckle, these St. Germain cocktailsare worth every penny.

If you prefer Bloody Marys or dirty martinis, this might not be the best choice for you.

That said, if youre a gin lover, I think youll really enjoy the floral taste of St. Germain.

You can find it online easily enough, or try Michaels, as theyll have a bunch of different colors.

Traditional margaritas include Cointreau or triple sec along with lime juice for a very citrusy flavor.

The great thing about St. Germain is that its wonderfully fruity.

So even though its not specifically orange-flavored, all those peach and lychee notes make this one of the best margs youll ever drink.

However, since St. Germain is quite pricy, I dont recommend making this into a frozen margarita.

That would water down the taste, which would be a real shame.

Boulard Calvados is one of the worlds most well-known and well-regarded apple brandies.

Its double-distilled and perfectly aged to create something truly delicious.

So, with such a unique spirit, you dont want to drown it out with lots of mixers, right?

This cocktail complements the apple flavor with elderflower and adds just a hint of citrus to balance everything out.

The tonic water makes this lighter and easier to drink.

This might be the most famous St. Germain cocktail out there. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if this was the first drink you had with elderflower liqueur.

    FAQs

What is St. Germain?St. Germain is a French liqueur made from elderflower, a flower from the Elderberry Tree.

What does St. Germain taste like?St. Germain has a combination of floral, fresh citrus, and tropical fruit flavors.

Can I substitute another liqueur if I dont have St. Germain? I created this drink around the elderflower flavor and would not recommend substituting it with another liqueur. However, St. Germain can be a little on the pricier side, so I often use an off brand of elderflower liqueur when making this drink. I often use Drillaud Elderflower liqueur which is about half the cost of St. Germain, and I dont notice the difference in taste between the two.

    The Forbidden Flower Sour

I know plenty of people who hate bourbon, yet they love this flower sour mix.

Bourbon adds a deeply flavorful warmth in cocktails, and its not as overpowering when mixed with citrus.

Without St. Germain, this would be super yummy. That intense pomegranate taste is delightful, after all.

But with the elderflower, its lighter and a touch sweeter, too.
