What Do I Need To Make Rotel Sausage Dip

Chorizo Fundido – Hot Chorizo Sausage Cheese Dip Recipe

Youll only need four ingredients to make rotel sausage dip! Heres what youll need:

  • Ground sausage pork sausage like Jimmy Deans is always a great option
  • Velveeta its easy to melt without clumping
  • Rotel tomatoes- the combination of diced tomatoes and green chilies is a great way to add flavor
  • Diced jalapeños this is optional, but if youre looking to add spice, this is a quick way to do that!

A Few Quick Tips For Best Results:

  • I know I already mentioned this, but do pick up one of these ground meat choppers to make browning the bulk sausage for this simple dip nearly effortless. Its the first thing I reach for when making taco meat, meat sauces, and sausage/ground beef-based dips like this. I use mine several times a week at the very least!
  • DONT drain the Rotel. The little bit of liquid is essential for thinning out this sausage and cream cheese dip enough to be scoopable.
  • And speaking of scoopable This creamy sausage dip is still a very thick dip, so choose some good, sturdy, restaurant-style tortilla chips to serve with it. If youre feeling really ambitious, you could even try making your own homemade tortilla chips!
  • DO cube up the cream cheese before adding it for faster melting. Technically you could just throw the whole blocks in and still end up with a creamy dip, but they will take much longer to melt.
  • A good alternative to tortilla chips for dipping are the larger scoop-size corn chips. Also celery sticks and/or sliced bell peppers are a great option for your low carb guests.

Slow Cooker Spicy Sausage Dip

A spicy sausage dip without Velveeta but instead filled with fresh cheese, cream cheese instead. The dip also has salsa and green onion for flavor. Great for a dip night or any celebration.

An array of appetizers are a must for a party. I always make one dip that goes with chips like this easy sausage dip, and I also make grape jelly meatballs or barbecue meatballs to complete the spread.

Dont get me wrong Im not a Velveeta snob. Theres a time and place for it, and this last weekend I wasnt in the mood for Velveeta. Also, this hot sausage dip isnt your usual dip, and you can surprise your guest with something different.

A Note About Spicy Sausage

As youll notice in both the recipe card below and the ingredient list above, the sausage is listed as hot breakfast sausage.

Depending on where you live and what is available in your grocery store or super market, the sausage that I refer to might be named something different.

I have seen sausages labeled spicy, hot, extra hot, etc. on grocery store shelves around my region over the years, so you might see something similar.

If it is available, opt for hot sausage for this recipe.

Ive been thinking about this dip for quite some time. Thats generally how a recipe starts. I start with an idea, toss it around for a while in my head, talk it out with my husband and then finally make it.

The making it part may sound easy but most recipes take several tries of testing before I get the temperature, length of time and ingredients just how I think they taste best. Coming up with the best flavor combination for this Crock Pot Mexican Sausage Dip has been difficult.

At first I was trying to do a traditional dip Velveeta, Ro*tel and Sausage. As good as that is, it just wasnt quite the flavor I was looking for. It tasted good but the flavor was lacking.

Then I decided to skip the sausage, and do a Velveeta, ground beef, Ro*tel & cream cheese mixture. Again, delicious but not quite what I was aiming for.

However youll want to keep it on low as you eat it.

What Should I Serve This With

Corn chips and tortilla chips are always a good idea with rotel sausage dip. You could also serve this with bread slices to add even more delicious carbs to the mix.

Carrot chips, celery, or broccoli are all also great options if youre looking to add some more vegetables to your day.

Rotel Sausage Dip Ingredients

This Rotel sausage dip is as easy as 1, 2, 3!! Its one of my go-to delicious recipes for parties, potlucks, and/or tailgating before the big game pretty much any occasion that calls for copious amounts of dips and finger foods. If Im being completely honest though, Ive even been known to make this easy sausage dip for a quick weeknight dinner

HERES WHAT YOU NEED:

bulk hot pork sausage I typically pick up a 1-lb. roll of Jimmy Dean hot sausage. This is not in any way sponsored I just think this spicy sausage packs the perfect amount of heat, and it isnt super greasy after browning. If you prefer a milder dip, then by all means go for regular sausage or even mild sausage.

Rotel tomatoes & chilies Rotel is always a classic ingredient in Mexican-inspired dips, so its a natural fit here. The original variety is pretty mild, but they do also offer an actual mild variety if you prefer absolutely no heat. Me? I just saw theyre now offering a Serrano variety, and I am TOTALLY trying that for some extra heat next time I make this hot sausage dip!

cream cheese cream cheese on the whole doesnt vary much between brands, so choose whatever your fave is. That said, you could lighten this recipe up slightly by using Neufchatel.

Spicy Crab Dip Recipe

This style of crab dip, often referred to as Maryland crab dip because of its Chesapeake Bay origins, makes for a festive appetizer. Here, its served hot out of the oven and is extra creamy thanks to the combination of cream cheese and a little mayonnaise. Though crabs are plentiful this time of year and you can certainly make this with freshly steamed and picked meat if youd like canned lump crabmeat makes this dish simple to assemble. Just be careful to leave the clumps of meat as intact as possible when mixing. A sprinkle of cayenne pepper and a generous douse of hot sauce add heat to this flavorful dish.

Ingredients Needed For Spicy Italian Sausage Dip:

You dont need anything fancy, just 6 main ingredients, plus some seasonings.

Mix all these ingredients together and spread them in a baking dish, top with some extra cheese and pop it in the oven. I love using Mozzarella cheese in dips because you get that beautiful golden brown color when you broil it. Sometimes just baking will do the trick, but during the last few minutes you can switch to your ovens broiler setting to get that yummy color. It only takes about 20 minutes to bake, which is good news because youre not going to be able to contain your excitement while you wait!

How To Make Spicy Cream Cheese Dip

Slow Cooker Spicy Sausage Cheese Dip

In a large skillet, cook the sausage. Take note: most hot sausage will not brown like normal breakfast sausage, but rather simply no longer be pink.

Drain the cooked sausage. The sausage we have locally has a TON of fat in it that normal breakfast sausage does not.

Pour the sausage, along with the cream cheese and Rotel, into a slow-cooker on high heat.

Cook for 1 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Reduce to low heat, serve, and enjoy!

What To Pair With Velveeta Sausage Dip

Since this dip is packed with flavor, you can easily serve with regular tortilla chips. Though the scoops chips would be particularly good since they will hold more dip per bite!

I think this dip would be amazing served in a bread bowl. You can cut the middle out and toast the excess bread to dip inside.

Pairing this hot dip with cool and crunchy veggies is a nice way to balance out the dish.

Since this cheese dip is so easy, you can make it for any number of great dishes:

    • It would be perfect poured over cheesy nacho chips and served on a platter with guacamole, salsa, and extra jalapenos.
    • Looking for a cheat dinner? Try mixing through cooked pasta for a simple pasta dish everyone will love.
    • Adding a side of fried jalapenos will add spice and crunch!
    • Up your scrambled egg game by mixing some of this dip through before serving.
    • For a unique vegetarian side, omit the meat and pour over cauliflower. Top with bread crumbs and bake.
    • How about some truly indulgent hot dogs smothered in cheese dip and bacon?
    • 1poundVELVEETA®, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

    • 1/2poundbreakfast pork sausage, cooked, drained

    • 1 can ROTEL Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies, undrained

Can I Make This Ahead Of Time

Definitely! It makes a great dish to prepare and then reheat once you want to serve it. Its also easy to just cook the sausage and dice the Velveeta to quickly melt together once youre ready.

When youre ready to make the dish, itll come together in under ten minutes. Just mix together all of the ingredients in a saucepan or large skillet until the cheese is melted and youre all set!

Unfortunately, the shipments have stopped but we still have sausage in the freezer and I cant stop coming up with recipes using all my Jimmy Dean sausage so you may see a few more recipes in the next few months!

Although you may think of Jimmy Dean as breakfast food, Jimmy Dean has all kinds of products and different varieties of sausage including a reduced fat variety. I wanted to come up with an easy dip recipe that would be great for the Super Bowl.

This three-ingredient dip is so fast, you can have it on the table in less than 10 minutes. Below are some great tips for making it just right every time!

The best way to ensure the cheese will melt uniformly is to cut it into cubes.

Whether cooking in the microwave or on the stove-top, stir it a few times to keep it from burning and to help the cheese melt.

Using a slow-cooker is an easy way to cook and hold this hot dip. Just mix everything in the pot and leave to cook on low for two to three hours.

If youre planning on bringing this dip to a party, using a portable lunch warmer is a great way to keep it warm.

Always be sure to fully cook the sausage and drain the excess liquid before adding to the cheese.
