The Road Trip To Pawhuska Oklahoma

The Pioneer Woman Makes Internet-Famous Dalgona Coffee | The Pioneer Woman | Food Network

My obsession with this coffee began last May when I took a day trip to Pawhuska Oklahoma, home of the Pioneer Woman and her fantastic Mercantile.

We got up bright and early, loaded up a huge passenger van with our family, 2 other families, a few mother-in-laws, and left Missouri just as the sun was rising.

It was a truly glorious day.

The sun was shining for the first time in forever.

Oklahoma had been hit with some serious flooding so when when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the flooding had kept the crowd at bay so were able to get right into the Mercantile and start exploring.

The Pioneer Woman Mercantile

The old Mercantile building is old and majestic, reminiscent of another time. It has been beautifully restored to its former glory.

Firstly, I made a beeline for the cafe that was on the 2nd floor of the historic building in downtown Pawhuska.

The smell that hits you when you walk up the grand staircase is the best. Coffee beans and baked goods. Hmmm

I grabbed several goodies to take home with me and a few gluten-free bakery items to give to friends.

Secondly, I shopped around the mercantile looking at all of the merchandise.

Thirdly, we ate at the Mercantile Deli. So yummy! I highly recommend it.

Pioneer Woman Dropped Line Of Coffee Products

Coffee and Ree Drummond fanatics have even more reason to celebrate with the Pioneer Womans line of coffee products. For those that require more than just a generic brand of beans, consider purchasing a bag of P.W. Coffee.

Mornings come very early on our ranch. Coffee is one of my favorite things about rising and shining, and I love to sip it all day, Drummond said when her new line of products debuted.

More than just a cup of mud, Drummond incorporated some of her favorite desserts into the flavors of her coffee. In partnership with Zavina, the Pioneer Woman provides her fans and fellow freakazoids with varieties like caramel brownie fudge and créme brûlee. Other flavors even harken to some of Drummonds famous recipes, like her mothers cinnamon rolls and her personal favorite, pecan pie.

Available in both single-serve pods and whole beans, Pioneer Woman watchers can enjoy the next episode of her cooking show in true Drummond fashion.

Just dont forget to make the first batch of the day an iced coffee.

Variation: Vietnamese Iced Coffee

Perfect Iced Coffee

And now for something entirely different. Samebut different.

This is a variation on classic Vietnamese Iced Coffee, which actually does begin with a hot brewbut Im using the cold stuff.

Fill the glass with ice and coffee concentrate as we did before, then crack open a can of sweetened condensed milk.

A glorious substance. One you should get to know better if you dont already.

Drizzle in at least 2 tablespoons for a big glass

CometoMAMA.

On top of this, add a small splash of milk or half-and-half.

Glorious.

Stir, take a small sip, and add a little more sweetened condensed milk if needed.

Ive tried all combinations of milk, half-and-half, sugar, artificial sweeteners, flavored syrups, and sweetened condensed milk, and I will tell you that there is no more winning combo than the half-and-half/sweetened condensed milk mixture. It is out-of-this-world creamy and wonderful, and is worth at least a spot in your weekend rotation if youre not willing to go there daily.

Either way, try this cold-brewed method of iced coffee sometime soon. The flavor, convenience can not be underestimated.

What Milk Is Good For Iced Coffee

Ree Drummond’s Mini Tiramisu | The Pioneer Woman | Food Network

Whole Milk is the best beverage for the barista. This type of dairy contains approximately 4% fat, making it less healthy for those on a low-fat diet, but it also adds a richness of texture to the palette that people enjoy.

Brewed Coffee Vs. Iced Coffee: Whats The Difference?

Iced and brewed coffee are the two most common types of coffee. The process of brewing coffee beans and adding water yields brews. An iced coffee is made by adding espresso to a freshly brewed coffee. Iced coffee, on the other hand, contains more brewed coffee than iced latte, which contains espresso. The flavor of iced coffee is enhanced by adding espresso to brewed coffee, which results in a colder, denser taste. Iced coffee is not only a great way to stay warm in the winter, but it also has the distinct advantage of being a delicious cup of coffee. Iced coffee necessitates the addition of ice, which should account for approximately 13% of total liquid volume. A quart of ice, 16 ounces of hot water, and 8 ounces of milk would yield 24 ounces of milk. Make sure the dripper is filled with only half the amount of ground coffee required to ensure proper coffee/water contact. It is recommended that the brew be completed in no more than three minutes.

    How To Make Perfect Cold

The idea left me, well, cold. Coffee is supposed to be hot. Very, very hot.

And then, I made a serious mistake. I accepted a sample of iced coffee in a popular coffee shop. It was strong, sweet, creamy, and icy, icy cold. Wow.

I needed to figure out how to make this myselfit was that goodbecause as much as I might want iced coffee again, I was not going to pay the outrageous price to have someone else make it for me.

One might think, as I did, that pouring hot coffee over ice and adding milk and sugar would do the trick. Not exactly. Not even close.

The problem is that the ice seriously dilutes the coffee. This dilemma sent me in search of the secret for why the sample was not at all diluted. Thats when I discovered that Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, is quite an iced coffee aficionado and quite willing to share her secrets.

What Is The Ratio Of Coffee To Water For Iced Coffee

The majority of people prefer cold brew with a concentrate-to-water ratio of 2:1 to 1:1. If you enjoy strong coffee, you may prefer the 2:1 dilution ratio.

Iced coffee is something that can be made in a variety of ways, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution for how much coffee to use. You may need to adjust your coffee consumption depending on your preferences and the type of coffee maker you have. A cold brew should have a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:5, which is ideal because it makes for a nice cup of coffee and water. If you have trouble with the taste of cold brew, dilute it before serving. One or two tablespoons of ground coffee should be consumed for every six ounces of water. It is easier to drink iced coffee with more water in it if it is heavily ice-bound. Coffee with cold water has a slightly different water-to-coffee ratio than coffee with hot water.

It is best to experiment with different ratios to find the best ratio. The general ratio is 1:4 grounds to water. As a general rule, the cold brew to water ratio is 8oz water to 1oz coffee grounds. Iced coffee from Japan is made by heating and quickly cooling it. Coffee enthusiasts agree that one-fourth cup of coffee to one-half cup of water is a good starting point. You can also use various ratios to figure out how much coffee to drink and how much water to drink at a time. Ice should be at least 12 ounces in size, and 8 ounces of ice would be enough to warm up 24 ounces of hot water.
