- Organic apple cider vinegar
- Empty spray bottle
This is my favorite homemade dog flea spray recipe.
I have personally used all three of these recipes that I’m sharing today for how to make homemade flea spray for dogs.
They have all worked to prevent fleas to one degree or another, but I prefer this third recipe because it doesn’t need to be applied daily, and it doesn’t smell bad.
Here’s how to make this: in an empty spray bottle, you’ll need to combine 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, 3 drops of lavender or peppermint essential oil, and then fill the rest with water.
The apple cider vinegar and essential oils repel the fleas, and the oils mask some of the bad scents of the apple cider vinegar.
You will only need to apply flea spray every 2-3 days as well.
It works well to repel fleas on the dog, and I’ve also noticed a reduction in the number of ticks that my dogs have picked up since we began using this homemade flea spray.
How To Make Homemade Flea Spray For Dogs
Its really easy to make a lemon flea spray. Take a couple of lemons, one to three depending on how strong you want it to be, and slice them very thin, keeping the peel on. Place the slices in a pint of water and bring it to a boil. Then let it steep overnight. Place the lemon infused water in a spray bottle and spray away!
Rosemary flea spray can help you control dog flea with no side effects. You can take a slice of lemon and rosemary and put it in a 250ml bowl of water. How To Make homemade flea and tick remedy 1 Mix dry ingredients first then slowly add to wet as the vinegar and baking soda will react slightly. Put into spray bottle and spray pets down. Be careful not to get in pets eyes. Use Borax throughout the house, sprinkle it on the carpets and let sit for a few hours, then vacuum.
DIY Natural Flea And Tick Treatment For Dogs Pour a quart of boiling water over a large thinly sliced lemon and let steep overnight. Drain the lemon water and pour into a large glass spray bottle. Add 10 drops each of Lemongrass oil and Citronella oil. Add 1 cup of vinegar
Lemon Flea Spray- This is a natural flea spray just like the vinegar flea spray above.Youll need a clean spray bottle for this solution as well. You can use 1-3 lemons depending on the amount of water you mix with the lemons and the strength you want your spray to be.

Essential oils can also be soaked onto fabric to make a home-made flea collar. Rub a few drops of essential oils onto a fabric collar or bandanna. Then mix with up to 8 pints of water and saturate your dog including the head as fleas will gravitate towards any area that is left dry. Perfect for a sunny day when your dog can dry off naturally.
Certain foods can help to ward off fleas. Garlic, brewers yeast tablets and apple cider vinegar are all known to repel fleas by making your dog taste less attractive.

If you don’t want your pooch to smell like apple cider vinegar, you may want to try another option.
You don’t need to apply this spray as often as the one I discussed above.
Once every 2-3 days will be fine.
Apple cider vinegar is an effective flea repellent for dogs, and it’s very inexpensive.
It’s also 100% safe for your dog.
In fact, I add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to my dog’s water bowl every day for an added boost in preventing a flea infestation.

Killing Fleas Around The House
Is There A Way To Prevent Fleas On My Dog
In addition to using one of our homemade flea killer sprays, there is a spray you can make to repel fleas and ticks. The spray is safe to use on your dogs coat between shampoos and can also be used around the home and in the yard.
To make the spray, combine one cup of white vinegar and three cups of water inside a large spray bottle. Shake to mix well.
Make a dish soap and water spray and apply liberally around your yard to keep fleas out of your house. While this isnt a foolproof method, it does help.

How Should You Use It
This spray may not kill fleas and ticks, but these nasty bugs hate apple cider vinegar. The solution is likely to make fleas and ticks jump off of your dog and stay off, as long as you treat them regularly.
You can use this potion as you would an over-the-counter flea and or tick spray. You can treat bedding and spray it directly on your dogs fur.
Obviously, be careful to avoid the face and eyes like you normally would.
This spray is natural and not toxic, so you can use your hands to massage it into the fur so it can reach the skin beneath.
Spray your pup once a week or when your dog starts scratching, and dont forget to work the solution down into your pets skin.

How To Make Your Own Homemade Flea Repellent
Bring to a boil cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer until soft, 10 to 15 minutes. Crack eggs and whisk together in a bowl place eggshells onto a baking sheet. Bake eggshells in the preheated oven until dry, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove eggshells from the oven and pulverize using a mortar and pestle or a coffee grinder.
How To Make All Natural Flea Shampoo. Add 2 teaspoons of soapwort to 3 cups of purified water. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce heat. Simmer for around 15 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool. Leave it to settle for around 1 hour. Decide on your preferred essential oils.
Enough water to fill the remainder of a 32 ounce spray bottle. Mix the ingredients in a 32 ounce spray bottle. Shake well before every use and spray the horse. Like recipe #1, above, this homemade horse fly spray worked well around the barn and house, but was of no help in the pasture for deer flies.

Heat the water until it almost boils. In a separate container, place the chopped garlic. Then, pour the hot water over the garlic and let it steep for 12 hours. Strain out the garlic. Once you have your spray, you can lightly spray your yard and get rid of fleas.
