Low Carb Coffee Creamer Recipe

Other Keto Friendly Sweetener Options

Keto Friendly/ Low Carb Coffee Creamer/ Vanilla Cinnamon

You can use any sweetener you have on hand with this recipe. Some of our favorites are Lakanto‘s Monk Fruit & Erytheritol blend, allulose and stevia.

If you aren’t using Bocha Sweet, for the best taste we recommend blending multiple sweeteners until you’re happy with the results.

Some people will want their coffee creamer very sweet and others will want just a subtle sweetness. As you figure out your perfect “sweet spot”, start low and add more as needed. It’s easy to add more sweetener, but if you put too much in at the beginning, it’s more of a hassle to figure out how much of the other ingredients to add to save your batch of creamer.

And, no one likes throwing ingredients away!

If I were personally making this creamer without Bocha Sweet, I would use: 1 Tablespoon Lakanto Monk Fruit Blend, 1 Tablespoon Allulose and 10 drops of liquid stevia.

When You Dont Want Half And Half

When I published my first video about How to Make a Healthy Powdered Coffee Creamer, I was thrilled with how popular it was. But the one request that I received over and over was: How do I make a Keto version of this? Thats a great question! And the good news is that its quite easy to do.

To make a powdered coffee creamer thats Keto friendly, you cant use powdered milk. You cant even use a combination of powdered milk and powdered cream.

However, when used alone, powdered cream or powdered heavy cream makes the perfect ingredient to create a Keto powdered coffee creamer!

How To Choose The Best Keto

Walk down the grocery aisle and youll be faced with a host of creamers loaded with hidden carbs. The name of the game is to stay as low carb as possible. Dont worry. Its much easier than you think.

As a general rule of thumb: heavy cream is a go-to favorite for many Keto dieters due to its low-carb and high-fat content. Traditional coffee creamers especially the dairy free kind typically contain sugars and should be avoided on Keto.

Not a fan of dairy? No problem. Here are a few of our best tips when choosing dairy-free Keto-friendly coffee creamers:

What To Limit & Avoid

Keto Coffee Creamer

Always pay attention to what you put in your drinks, including your coffee and especially your coffee creamer.

Black coffee is always keto-friendly, but its the ingredients you can add to it where you need to be careful. Even just a teaspoon of sugar can be too many carbs for your daily intake, and honestly just may not be worth it, hence the reason we brought you a low carb creamer.

Things to limit and try to avoid when it comes to coffee creamers are:

  • Different varieties of milk products Heavy cream is your best keto milk option, but regular milk or other kinds of nut milk that are SWEETENED will add more carbs than necessary.
  • Artificial Sweeteners This is what you want and need to avoid. Consuming anything artificial is not a healthy option, and can cause upset stomachs or other health issues.
  • Added Sugars Avoid using cane sugar or any products that contain sugar.

Is Cream Keto Friendly

Yes, heavy whipping cream is a low-to-no-carb food, and you can easily stir it in to your morning cup of coffee.

While not adding flavor per se, it does make your coffee extremely creamy!

Half-and-half has 1 gram of carbs per serving , so it is still an option as well. I prefer half-and-half as it is much lower in calories than heavy whipping cream.

Keto Coffee Creamer Ingredient Alternatives

Making your coffee with keto coffee creamer is a great way to kickstart your day, but you can also try adding any of these for more variety:

  • Grass-fed butter Im sure many of you have heard of Bulletproof Coffee before and theres a good reason for that. Grass-fed butter provides an abundance of heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids and disease-fighting antioxidants.
  • MCT oil. MCT oil or coconut oil provide you with medium chain triglyceride fatty acids, which studies have found to help with weight management and exercise endurance.
  • Maple extract. This is not to be confused with maple syrup. Even just a drop or two of maple extract in your coffee can really change up the flavor of your coffee.

How To Make Coffee Ice Cream

Although we add coffee to this ice cream recipe, we use this same base for all of our keto ice creams. You can make any flavor of ice cream you want. Its an easy base and it tastes great and very creamy.

The other great part about using this base for everything is that it starts to become second nature to make it. There are quite a few steps to making custard-style ice cream, but its not hard, and its very much worth the effort.

Milk Base Options For This Keto Coffee Creamer

    Keto Coffee Creamer

The base of our creamer recipe is heavy cream. We like to use heavy cream because its super thick and low carb. If you are dairy free you can still sub ingredients to make this coffee creamer keto and dairy free.

The options you have are subbing heavy cream for canned coconut milk thats super thick, or almond milk and adding in a bit of xanthan gum.

Xanthan gum will help to thicken the base if you choose to use a thinner liquid like almond milk. It will change the consistency so its not recommended as a first choice and instead stick to canned coconut milk if possible.

    Can I Add Collagen

ABSOLUTELY! Collagen is a great addition to not only your keto coffee creamer, but it also is a great addition to just plain coffee too.

The best way to add collagen is to put it directly into the creamer while its still warm that way it dissolves right away. Start off with 2-3 scoops per batch of low carb coffee creamer.

    Collagen brand recommendations:

    • Vital Proteins Original Collagen Peptides This is my favorite brand of collagen. Its not only Grass-Fed but also, Whole30 approved, paleo, keto, and gluten-free. This can be bought on Amazon, but I recommend getting it at Costco. Its a better price for a much larger container.

2 Keto Coffee Creamer Recipes – Coconut Coffee and Bulletproof

Traditionally, the “ketogenic diet” is the healthiest way of eating. Ketones get broken down into acetone and acetone gets re-absorb in the bloodstream, and from there it gets exported to the liver where it can be stored. As part of the keto diet, you can’t eat things with carbohydrates, so your only option is high-quality fats . In the keto diet, you can drink as much coffee as you want because you’re burning lots of sugar and caffeine isn’t important.

Whether you decide to eat fats or carbs, coffee is actually considered an antagonist to the ketogenic diet. Coffee isn’t part of the keto diet, so any coffee drinker on the keto diet is like, “well, then how do I get my coffee?” Right now I can only get my coffee from one brand, Sugar-Free Coffee-Mate, and they claim to be keto-friendly.
