Tips From The Pillsbury Kitchens

  • tip 1 Layers of fat in the crescent dough help them rise, creating a pizza crust that is lighter that a traditional bread dough crust.
  • tip 2 Serve at room temperature or chilled as an appetizer or summer patio supper, topped with a casual mix of veggies or creatively arranged in rows.
  • tip 3 To easily soften cream cheese, remove wrapper and place on a microwaveable plate. Microwave uncovered on High for 15 to 20 seconds or until softened.
  • tip 4 Try your favorite combination of chopped fresh veggies to make this recipe your own. Be sure to cut the vegetables so they are bite-size so they top the pizza nicely and are easier to eat. Finish with a sprinkle of shredded Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.

Recipe Tips And Variations

  • Yield: This Veggie Pizza makes 16 slices. Its so delicious, I generally allocate two pieces per person per meal. To double, simply repeat the process at the same time using another sheet pan to bake the crust.
  • Storage: Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Make ahead: To get a jump on Veggie Pizza prep, bake the crust up to a day ahead of time. Wrap it up and keep it out at room temperature. As that cooks, mix together the cream cheese spread and chop your vegetables. Store both in the refrigerator until its time to assemble.
  • Freezer: For a freezer-friendly version, try my Veggie Tortilla Roll Ups.
  • Veg out: Think of this crust and sauce base as a blank canvas to showcase any vegetables you enjoy . Nearly any vegetable, sliced into bite-sized pieces, tastes incredible atop this Veggie Pizza. A few of my familys favorite combinations:
  • Red peppers, black olives, and scallions with shredded mozzarella
  • Chopped cherry tomatoes, crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese
  • Chopped cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, crumbled feta cheese
  • Tricolor peppers, carrots, and green onions

Helpful Tips For Making This Crescent Roll Veggie Pizza

  • Use fresh crescent dough. You probably dont always take the time to check the code dates when youre grocery shopping. However, the refrigerated crescent dough can get a little gooey if its close to the expiration date.
  • Dont take the dough out of the refrigerator until its time to roll it out. If you leave it sitting on the counter for too long, it will be harder to handle.
  • Take the cream cheese out of the fridge ahead of time and let it soften. This will make it easier to work with.
  • Use your food processor to chop the veggies. Pulsing them a few seconds at a time will give you nicely chopped pieces. Be careful not to pulverize them.
  • Gently press the toppings into the cream cheese using a piece of plastic wrap.
  • Cut into squares and refrigerate until ready to serve. Cut immediately, even if youre not serving this up right away. If you delay the cutting for too long, the cream cheese layer will tend to lift off the dough.

Prepare The Vegetables And Herbs

  • Equipment youll need: Sharp chefs knife, cutting board, bowl.
  • While the crust bakes and cools, clean and dry the vegetables.
  • Chop all of the vegetables in a fine dice of the same size. You want them to sit neatly and securely on the ranch cream cheese spread. A fine dice also creates a pleasant bite, with a nice mixture of veggies in each taste, rather than a large chunk-of-something.
  • Youll need about three cups of diced veggies. I used about half each of red, yellow, green bell peppers, a small cucumber, a few broccoli florets, one green onion, 2 radishes, 2 ribs of celery, and one small carrots. Its better to have too much on hand, than too little. You can always cut the extra veggies, for crudites.
  • Set the prepared veggies aside.
  • Use your favorite fresh, leafy herbs, such as dill, cilantro, parsley, tarragon, and/or basil. Wash them well and dry them between towels. Then chop finely with a thin-bladed knife.
  • You can also prepare the veggies ahead of them, and store them in a bowl in the fridge for an hour or two.

How To Make Veggie Pizza

Ranch Veggie Pizza | Best Low Carb Recipe

This recipe starts with unbaked crescent rolls, which are pressed into a sheet pan to form the crust for this pizza. You can simply use your fingers to spread the dough in the pan, or you can use a rolling pin to roll out the dough into a rectangle shape.

I use Glad Press n Seal for so many things, it seals tightly onto many difference surfaces like plastic, metal and wood. I also use my Press n Seal to cover my veggie pizza while its chilling in the refrigerator. I love that this plastic wrap is BPA-free and safe to use in the microwave.

The creamy spread for this veggie pizza is made with cream cheese, sour cream, and a packet of Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Dip Mix. Ranch is not just for salads, the dip mix adds SO much flavor to this veggie pizza. The ranch spread is my favorite part of this whole recipe! You can find Hidden Valley Dip Mixes in the dressing aisle near the dry mixes. I bought everything to make this recipe at Walmart, its my favorite place to go for one stop shopping for holiday entertaining.

The great thing about this veggie pizza is that its made for serving a crowd. You can cut your slices as large or as small as you want. It makes a hearty appetizer, or you can even cut the squares a little larger and serve it as a meal. Ill be heading over to Walmart quite a bit this holiday season to pick up the ingredients for this party snack, its become one of my most requested recipes. Your friends and family are bound to love it too!

Key Ingredients & Substitutions For Crescent Roll Veggie Pizza

  • Crescent dough If youre like me, you dont always check the code dates when youre grocery shopping. One thing Ive learned from experience is the refrigerated dough can get a bit gooey if its close to the expiration date on the package. So use a fresh tube!
  • Ranch-style dressing mix Find packets of this with the bottled dressings. I like to keep a few on hand to mix into dips and spreads.
  • Cream cheese Always soften this first, as it will be much easier to spread on the crust. You can leave it on the counter for about 30 minutes or microwave a completely unwrapped block for 15 seconds.
  • Veggies Use a blend of your favorite seasonal vegetables that wont get too soggy once sliced. Carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, and green onions are my go-to options. Tomatoes, olives, and mushrooms could be tasty too!
  • Cheese I love the flavor of cheddar for this recipe, but just about any variety would work for your cool veggie pizza. Skip the bagged shreds and grate a block by hand. The texture and flavor are both significantly better!

Ranch Veggie Pizza Appetizer

A super easy appetizer featuring a creamy ranch spread topping, and loads of rainbow vegetables, perfect for summer cookouts, birthday parties, and showers. This crowd-pleasing Ranch Veggie Pizza Appetizer is a recipe collaboration sponsored by Hidden Valley as part of a partnership with Walmart and their Fight Hunger campaign. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This recipe is an intersection of a lot of things that I love and are important to me. Its a fondly remembered appetizer that first appeared at family gatherings during my college years. My mom was a fabulous party thrower, and her food spreads were legendary.

In fact, they made me into the appetizer lovin person I am today. The perfect summer party isnt about burgers and potato salad Im all about the appetizers and crudités and charcuterie boards!

And this appetizer is a great fit for me: its pizza, and its vegetables nestled on a cloud of smooth Hidden Valley® Original Ranch and cream cheese. Served at room temp, its a tasty nibble that keeps you going back for more.

In my youth, a variation of this appetizer was known as Cool Ranch Vegetable Pizza, or something like that, but, I dont have moms recipe anymore, so grown-up me just had to wing it, lol.

Its a no-fail recipe thats a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Hidden Valley Ranch dressing is such a classic accent for vegetables , and its tangy, herbaceous creaminess creates an irresistible white pizza sauce for this appetizer.
