Perfect Peach Iced Tea

Iced Sweet Green Tea Recipe.. (HOW TO MAKE ICED SWEET GREEN TEA)

Peach tea is a Georgia specialty. And if youve never tried it, youre in for a real treat.

Its cold and refreshing, just like iced tea should be. However, this one also has a super sweet peachy flavor.

Its almost like drinking liquified peaches, only with caffeine. So long as you appreciate sweet drinks, youll love it.

If sugary beverages arent your thing, you might want to give it a pass.

Its a stunning, sparkling drink thats perfect for special occasions.

Youll love the way it looks, but the way it tastes is even better. Its not as sweet as other options on the list, but its still sweet enough.

Just be sure you use white tea, not black or green. If you dont, neither the color nor the flavor will be quite right

How To Make Iced Gunpowder Green Tea Properly

Cold brewed iced tea is the best kind of iced tea! It tastes so much better than iced tea made any other way.

STEP 1: Put gunpowder green tea and water in a pitcher or glass container.

Use cold or room temperature filtered water since theres no need for hot water for cold brewing tea.

STEP 2: Cover pitcher and put in refrigerator for at least 6 hours.

STEP 3: Strain gunpowder green tea leaves and pour tea into a cup with ice.

Ice is optional with cold brew because its chilled already, so you can add it if you like but theres no need.

I always use simple syrup when I want to sweeten cold brew since it incorporates the best. To make it at home, just mix equal parts sugar and hot water until the sugar dissolves.

Theres no straightforward answer to how much tea to use. It all depends on your taste preferences, how strong the tea is, and the brewing time.

A rule-of-thumb is around 510g loose tea per 1 litre of water, assuming youre brewing for 46 hours. After the first couple of hours, taste it and see if you need to add tea or water.

What Is Cold Brewed Green Tea

As the name suggests, cold brewing means tea brewed with cold water instead of hot water. Cold brewing is a process of gentle steeping that takes longer than hot tea which gets ready in less than 5 minutes. Even though cold brew takes longer, it’s worth waiting for its smooth and sweet taste. Unlike hot green tea, cold brewed green tea doesn’t turn bitter the longer you steep. You can let the tea steep with this method overnight, so you can drink the refreshing tea in the morning.

Iced Green Tea Brewing Technique

A couple notes related to my brewing technique. It’s a hybrid, mostly cold-brew approach. I hit the leaves with a splash of just-shy-of-hot water, to wake up the leaves. This also extracts some of the healthy antioxidants from the tea leaves – straight cold brewing has less antioxidant activity. Count to 10 or so, and then finish up with cold water. This kills the heat, keeps the extraction smooth and slow, and prevents over cooking, or over brewing. The difference between a cold brew green tea and hot brew is dramatic, both wonderful in their own right, but for an iced tea like this I prefer less vegetable / cooked notes. The green tea I used pictured below.

I use whatever green tea I have on hand, but I tend to prefer certain types over others. When I’m doing iced green tea, a favorite is loose leaf Japanese sencha . The color is beautiful, and it brews vibrant, smooth, and clean. Enjoy! -h

Learn To Balance Tea And Water

Green Thai Iced Tea *RECIPE*

You dont want to use too much tea as the flavor will be overly intense, and you dont want to use too much water as your tea flavor will be flat. In most cases 1 ½ 2 teabag of tea per cup for larger tea leaves such as green, chamomile, and white tea is enough, and only 1 teabag per a cup of tea with more intense flavors such as black tea will taste right.

How To Make Iced Green Tea Just Like Starbucks

This easy Starbucks-inspired iced green tea recipe serves up to three people. It uses just a few ingredients and is made in 20 minutes or less.

1. Make a simple syrup by bringing 1 cup of water and sugar to a boil until the sugar has completely dissolved. Set aside to cool.

This is most similar to the classic syrup used at Starbucks. However, you can stay true to the original iced green tea and leave your tea unsweetened. You can also try other healthier alternatives like stevia leaves, honey, and agave nectar.

2. In a separate pot, bring water to a boil, then add the tea bags. Cover and remove it from the heat, then let it steep for at least 20 minutes.

The longer you steep your tea, the stronger it will be.

3. Drain the tea to separate them from the tea bags then chill.

4. Afterward, fill a tall glass with ice. Then add enough tea to fill ¾ of the glass.

You can also pour it into a cocktail shaker and simply shake it up. Then empty everything into your cup.

5. Garnish with lemon slices and mint.

6. You can also top it off with syrup, if preferred, and stir with a spoon. Enjoy!

You can amp up the citrus flavor by adding lemonade or a squeeze of lemon juice. You can also add a few pumps of your favorite syrup like vanilla or peach.

Powdered Green Tea: Konacha

Powdered green tea can be made from several different varieties of tea, but the one most commonly used is konacha. Its probably the powdered green tea that most Americans are familiar with, as its often the type served in sushi bars. Most of the time, the green tea powder made from konacha is sealed in tea bags, but its also available in loose form.

Konacha is considered to be inferior to matcha green tea powder. Its produced from the leftovers of the processing procedures of more expensive types of green tea, like gyokuro and sencha. For konacha, the tiny tea leaves, the buds, and even the remaining particles of dust are used. In color, its dark green, and it has a strong flavor thats somewhat astringent in nature.

Matcha Green Tea is made in ceremonial bowls.

How To Make Green Iced Tea With Lemon

Iced Green Tea Recipe (Cold brew + Video)

Making green iced tea is super simple. It takes just a few minutes to brew the tea, and a few hours for it to chill before its ready to serve.

Start by heating four cups of water in a kettle to 185 degrees F. Then add the tea bags to a heat-resistant pitcher and pour in the hot water. Let the tea brew for 3 minutes. Green tea is quite delicate and it doesnt need to be steeped for long. Get rid of the tea bags. Add sugar to your desired sweetness.

If youre going to be serving the tea right away, stir in six cups of ice cubes, which will chill it down quickly, so it can then be served with additional ice. If youve got time to let it chill, add 4 cups of cold water, then put it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours, until completely chilled before serving over ice with freshly sliced lemon.

Its that easy! Youll have this wonderful drink done in no time flat.

Put The Jar In The Refrigerator For At Least 8 Hours

Now its time to place the tea in the refrigerator. Ideally, cold brew tea should steep for 8-12 hours and no more than 24 hours. Personally, I brew it about 12 hours overnight.

Heres a little known tip if youre pinched for time.

The tea experts at Whittard of Chelsea recommend using a flash heat method to wake the tea up before adding cold water. This is accomplished by covering the leaves with 2 inches of boiling or near-boiling water. Then it is topped off with cold water and brewed at least 4-6 hours.

On another note, Whittard also explains that hot water kills natural bacteria in unprocessed teas.

Benefits Of Using Honey

I highly recommend finding honey sourced locally rather than purchasing traditional store brands. A lot of honey on the grocery store shelves is filled with sugar and is not actually all natural. Buying honey from local honey farmers has many benefits.

First, honey from local beekeepers should be in its most natural unprocessed state. It wont be packed with fillers.

Second, youll be supporting your local small business farmers, and lets be real, farmers right now need a lot of help!

And third, consuming honey local to your area might help with seasonal allergies. For someone with severe allergies, I will do anything to help lessen those horrendous symptoms once allergy season starts. Since it seems that allergies persist through NOVA year round, I always keep about 10 large local honey jars stored away.

Not only does honey make a perfect all natural sweetener for this iced green tea with honey, it makes a great sweetener for hot teas, coffees, and yogurts. I use honey in cooking marinades and as an all natural remedy for coughing and sore throats. My family loves honey. We cant get enough of it!

So much that my wonderful grandma in-law buys it from a farm in Tennessee, packages it up in tons of wrapping, and ships it to us hundreds of miles through the mountains and interstate. But we just add it to our storage stash and thankfully with iced green tea with honey, it never sits around for too long.
