How to Make The Best Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte – Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe

Skip Starbucks and make this healthy homemade pumpkin spice latte made with almond milk at home. Its easy to make, vegan and delicious!

If you like the thought of a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks but would rather skip the extra calories and sugar, you are going to LOVE the homemade version Im featuring today. Its crazy to me that even the smallest size non-fat, no whip PSL from Starbucks has 200 calories and 37 grams of sugar! The sugary syrup is the culprit. It contains sugar, condensed nonfat milk, sweet condensed nonfat milk and a few other ingredients including coloring and artificial flavors.

Im all about keeping my food/beverages as natural as possible, which is why I love this homemade pumpkin spice latte. You can have a pumpkin spice latte any day of the week and feel good about it with ingredients you can pronounce, no added sugar and a low amount of calories. The best part? It doesnt cost $4.00 a pop!

Serving And Storage Suggestions

I don’t recommend storing the pumpkin spice latte once it’s made. However, you can make the pumpkin syrup in a large batch and store that in the fridge for up to one week at a time. This way, you can just grab a spoonful along with milk and coffee and have a pumpkin spice latte in no time. Try it along with these delicious black walnut, chocolate malt cookies and you won’t regret it.

How To Steam Milk With An Espresso Machine

The tool you need to steam milk? An espresso machine with a steamer! This makes the most perfect micro-foam with the creamy wet-paint like texture that you need for a latte. But, youll need an espresso machine for this method. If you dont have one, keep reading! Heres how to steam milk for a pumpkin spice latte:

  • Hold the steaming wand just below the surface of the milk until it doubles in size. This makes foamy froth.
  • Move the wand lower near the side of the pitcher to create a spiral vortex. This makes the silky smooth microfoam bubbles and wet-paint texture thats characteristic of a latte.
  • Steam until the milk reaches 150 degrees Fahrenheit: use a thermometer or judge by when your hand cant hold the pitcher for more than a few seconds. Go to How to Steam Milk for more details!

What Is An Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte

Best Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe To Make At Home

I think that most folks are familiar with Starbucks’ über popular Fall drink, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Or PSL.

A Pumpkin Spice Latte is made up of espresso, pumpkin spice syrup/sauce, and steamed milk. As you can probably guess, an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte has all of the ingredients in the original PSL, except that it’s served over ice and with cold milk, instead of steamed.

It’s a really great way to enjoy some pumpkin spice goodness while the weather is still warm OR if you’re like me and think that cold coffee should be consumed year round, regardless of the weather.

    • Natural flavors: A mystery ingredient that can be made up of many different secret ingredients.
    • Loads of sugar: One pumpkin spice latte, according to Starbucks, contains over 50 grams of sugar . Thats A LOT, especially if youre indulging in this seasonal latte on a daily basis.
