Heres What Youll Need To Make These Delicious Homemade Grain

  • Nuts: This is the base for these grain-free granola bars. Instead of oats, we are using a variety of nuts. You can use whatever nuts you like best. I recommend a mixture of roasted almonds, pecans, and walnuts for the best flavor and crunch!
  • Peanut Butter: Peanut Butter is a protein-rich spread high in zinc, vitamin B-6, and magnesium! You can substitute with almond, cashew, or sunflower butter for a paleo option. The peanut butter, Medjool dates blend, and maple syrup work to bind the ingredients together.
  • Medjool Dates And Maple Syrup: Dates are natures candy and coupled with maple syrup, provide the perfect amount of sweetness while keeping these granola bars healthy and refined sugar-free! Pro Tip: Soak your dates in water for at least 15 minutes before blending. This softens the dates and helps them blend easier.
  • Ground Flaxseeds And Hemp Seeds: Both are filled with protein, fiber, and omega-3s. In 2 tablespoons, flaxseeds provide 3 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber, hemp seeds provide 7 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber!
  • Shredded Coconut And Dried Fruit: Adding coconut shavings, dried fruit, and even chocolate chips are completely optional! I like to add coconut and dried cranberries so delish!

Faq + Tips For The Best Soft Granola Bars

WATCH THE BOILING TIME. You really want to follow the directions and let the mixture boil 3-4 minutes before pouring it into your oatmeal mixture. If you boil it less, they may not hold together as well. If you boil it too long, the mixture may be thicker, and the granola bars will end up more dry and hard.

PACK THEM TIGHTLY. The other important tip for perfectly soft, chewy granola bars is to pack them as tightly as you can. The more densely you can pack them into your container, the better theyll stay together as they cool. If you dont pat them down at all, theyre more likely to fall apart when you pick them up. If you pack them down, you shouldnt have any trouble slicing them into bars or squares once theyve set.

HOW TO STORE HOMEMADE GRANOLA BARS. We store our soft granola bars in a zip-top bag in the refrigerator or freezer after slicing them. The less air exposure, the softer theyll stay. Theyll keep for 4-5 days in the fridge and about a month in the freezer.

GLUTEN FREE NOTES. If youre gluten free, be sure youre using certified gluten free oats and certified gluten free crisp rice cereal. Neither oats nor crisp rice contain wheat gluten themselves, but theyre often processed or grown in ways that can cause cross-contamination. Certified GF is the way to go if youre intolerant!

Superfood Protein Breakfast Bars gluten free, dairy free

Ive made this recipe with gluten free ingredients so that theyre safe for people with Coeliac Disease . However if making for someone else you know who has Coeliac, PLEASE CHECK whether they are okay to eat oats before you make them. Unfortunately, a few Coeliacs are also very sensitive to a protein called Avenin which is found in oats.

AND Make absolutely certain that the oats used to make these breakfast bars are certified gluten free. It can seem confusing However, gluten free oats have been grown, milled and packaged in a safe way, to ensure they are free from cross-contamination of any other non-safe gluten grains. You can find gluten free oats in the free from aisle of the supermarket.

Are Lemon Bars Healthy

First of all, I want to acknowledge that no one is eating lemon bars, or any dessert for that matter, because it is healthy. I fully believe that dessert should be enjoyed and that there is no need to restrict yourself from eating the foods you love.

That being said, I love making versions of my favorite desserts that are made with real food ingredients and unrefined sugar. Making my own desserts from scratch gives me the ability to control what is in them and, to me, they often taste even better than store bought versions.

How To Store These Grain Free Granola Bars

Maple Pumpkin Oatmeal Breakfast Bars

These granola bars keep well in the fridge. I like to wrap the bars in parchment paper and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer. They last for up to a week in the refrigerator and 3 weeks in the freezer. Grab one from the fridge when youre ready for a snack!

You can also keep these stored on the counter for a few days, but keep in mind that the longer they are out of the fridge, the softer the granola bars get.

Ive never been much of a breakfast person. But I generally need to eat something every 2-3 hours in order to stay alert and sane and grumpy-face-free. So Ive consumed my fair share of breakfast bars over the years, especially since becoming gluten-free.

When you have an allergy, grabbing snacks on the go is not always a reliable option. Ever since Chef Race when I almost died of starvation, not just on the challenges but during the pit stops in the white bread capitals of the world in between, I tend to carry at least 2 bars in my purse at all times. My suitcase on that trip was 25 percent Kind Bars.

Larabar kind of remade the marketplace when their fruit and nut forward bars took off 5 years ago. Since then, Luna and Cliff have had to make way for many healthy rivals that not only tout energy and protein, but all-around nutrients. This summer Ive been trying to eat as cleanly as possible, which has meant a lot of label reading and avoiding of frequent gluten-free fillers like soy and sugar. I wanted to share with you some of my favorites, why they rock, and what to beware of if you have other dietary concerns.1. The Pure Bar
