Lacks Protein And Other Essential Nutrients
The foods listed in Dr. Sebis nutrition guide can be an excellent source of nutrition.
However, none of the permitted foods are good sources of protein, which is an essential nutrient for skin structure, muscle growth, and enzyme and hormone production (
To meet your daily protein needs, you would need to eat extremely large portions of these foods.
Though foods in this diet are high in certain nutrients, such as beta carotene, potassium, and vitamins C and E, theyre low in omega-3, iron, calcium, and vitamins D and B12, which are common nutrients of concern for those following a strictly plant-based diet .
The Dr. Sebi diet website states that certain ingredients in its supplements are proprietary. This is concerning, as its unclear which nutrients youre getting and how much, making it difficult to know whether youll meet your daily nutrient needs.
Can The Dr Sebi Diet Help You Lose Weight
While Dr. Sebis diet isnt designed for weight loss, you may lose weight if you follow it.
The diet discourages following a Western diet, which is high in ultra-processed foods and loaded with salt, sugar, fat, and calories .
Instead, it promotes an unprocessed, plant-based diet. Compared with the Western diet, plant-based diets promote lower rates of obesity and heart disease .
A 12-month study including 65 people found that those who followed an unlimited whole-food, low fat, plant-based diet lost significantly more weight than those who didnt follow the diet .
At the 6-month mark, those on the diet had lost an average of 26.6 pounds , compared with 3.5 pounds among those in the control group .
Furthermore, most foods on this diet are low in calories, except for nuts, seeds, avocados, and oils. Therefore, even if you ate a large volume of approved foods, its unlikely that doing so would result in a surplus of calories and lead to weight gain.
However, very low calorie diets usually cannot be maintained in the long term. Most people who follow these diets regain the weight once they resume a normal eating pattern .
Since this diet doesnt specify quantities and portions, its difficult to say whether it will provide enough calories for sustainable weight loss.
summary
The Dr. Sebi diet isnt designed for weight loss but is very low in calories and limits processed food. Therefore, you may lose some weight if you follow this diet.
What Does Dr Sebi Say About Vitamin B12
To be clear, Dr. Sebi didnt really recommend for vitamins to be taken. Instead he advocated that what the body really needs is minerals from healthy natural and alkaline sources.
That said, because my opinion is influenced by Dr. Sebis teachings, I personally believe that we need more minerals than vitamins and if indeed we can get our bodies fortified with all required minerals, we wont have much to worry about our health.
So, in all, Dr. Sebi did not emphasise the importance of B12 and didnt advocate taking B12 supplements.

Differences Between French And American Eating
Some of the most obvious differences between how people eat in the US and France include:
- People in the US have a snacking culture, while the French do not promote snacking.
- Americans tend to eat as fast as possible. The French eat slow and get into conversations with friends or family.
- Food portion sizes in the US are larger, whereas the French prefer to eat smaller portions.
- French people tend to pay more attention to the taste of food than people in the US.
What Foods Do You Eat On The Dr Sebi Diet

The Dr. Sebi diet food list includes:
- leafy greens like kale, arugula and romaine
- bell peppers
- dates
- agave syrup
The diet also has you drink one gallon of natural spring water daily, but prohibits a ton of foods, including meat, dairy, fish and alcohol.
Alkalizing is a big part of the Dr. Sebi diet. He believed that keeping your body in an alkaline state would cause toxins to be removed from the body as the bloodstream becomes neutralized. To do this according to his specifications, you must take herbal supplements that cost up to $1,500. The diet claims these herbs support organ cleansing, gut health and low blood sugar. And while that may be true, its important to note that these claims arent based on any sort of scientific research, nor have they been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

What Is Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is one of the most important vitamins for your body. This water-soluble vitamin helps to support a number of essential biological processes, including protein metabolism, red blood cell formation, and DNA synthesis.
In addition, vitamin B12 plays an important role in nerve signaling and cognitive function. This means that it is essential for maintaining proper brain health and preventing diseases like dementia or Alzheimers.
With all of these benefits, its no wonder that getting enough vitamin B12 is so important. Luckily, many foods contain this vital nutrient such as animal products like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products as well as plant sources like fortified cereals and nutritional yeast.
But what did Dr. Sebi say or think of B12?
Dr Sebi On Vitamin B1: What Did He Recommend
The Vitamin B12 debate is indeed a very controversial one in the vegan community.
And because Vitamin B12 is naturally found in the soil or dirt, and synthesised by certain bacteria, it may be tough to get enough vitamin B12 from a plant-based diet.
But what does Dr. Sebi say about this important vitamin? First, lets learn what this vitamin really is.

Should Alkaline Vegans Take Supplementation
Most vegans get enough B12 from their diet, but some groups of people are at risk for B12 deficiency. These include older adults, and people with gastrointestinal disorders. People with B12 deficiency may experience fatigue, weakness, anemia, and nerve damage.
If you think you may be deficient in B12, talk to your doctor about getting a blood test, supplements or injections.
You may need to take supplements in order to ensure that you are getting enough of this important nutrient.
What Is The Typical French Diet
The French don’t take eating lightly. To them, meals are considered a celebration and a time to socialize with friends or family. The diet mainly consists of three meals in a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A typical French diet includes staples like bread, butter, meat, cheese, shallots, truffle, turnip, celeriac, and red wine.
The French diet consists of breakfast , lunch , and dinner . People in France spend the most time in the world eating meals. They take an average of about 2.5 hours to eat. Mealtime is a social activity in France most people eat at gatherings with friends and family.
Snacking is not huge in the French diet. The only form of snacking might involve an aperitif or an afternoon tea. Studies show that only about 15% of the French population snack throughout the day. France has the longest life expectancy and a low rate of obesity compared to other western countries, despite the fact that their culture revolves around food.
The foods that make up the French diet may vary among different regions of the country. The only foods common in every region are meats, cheese, vegetables, fish, and fresh fruits. French people consider socializing during a meal as important as the meal.

Are Alkaline Foods Really Healthier
Modern medicine does not recognize the concept of detoxifying rituals and alkaline foods. As long as the liver and kidney are healthy, the body will continue to detoxify itself if people have a balanced diet, are physically active, and eat foods rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, and fiber.
Many studies have found no benefit of an alkaline diet. Rather, such diets may cause severe nutritional deficiencies, including:
- vitamin B12 deficiency,
- iron deficiency anemia, and
- protein deficit .
The advantages of Dr. Sebi’s alkaline diet is high in fiber, unprocessed foods, and cuts down on nicotine and caffeine. It may result in weight loss if followed for a long time. The high fiber content helps enhance the gut biome, control the blood sugars, and avoid binge eating behaviors.
Though the diet is rich in fiber and low in sugars, no evidence suggests that an alkaline diet helps prevent cancers or autoimmune disorders. The herbs administered as a part of the cleansing ritual may result in unfavorable interactions with the drugs people take.
A few of the alkaline herbs may be toxic to the body in high doses. It is best to discuss any radical change in the diet with your doctor.
Does Key Lime Pie Need To Be Refrigerated
Generally speaking, it is a good idea to refrigerate your pie if you are not going to eat it right away. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. If you are using a pre-made crust, for example, you do not need to refrigerate it.
Another exception is if you are using a fruit pie filling that is high in acidity. Acidic fruits like apples and cherries can actually keep your pie fresh longer at room temperature. So, if you are using one of these fillings, you can feel free to leave your pie out on the counter.
Of course, ultimately it is up to you whether or not to refrigerate your pie. If you are unsure, it is always better to err on the side of caution and put it in the fridge. That way, you can be sure that your pie will be fresh and delicious when you are ready to eat it.

How To Make Key Lime Pie 2 Ways
There are two ways I have been able to make the Key lime pie but the difference comes in how you make the filling. So, while one recipe calls for an avocado based filling, the other calls for a coconut cream based filling.
If you are someone that dont like avocado , you can make the alternative so theres no excuse not to make an approved alkaline plant based key lime pie.
So, who says you cant enjoy key lime pie without all the eggs and milk
Does B12 Only Come From Animals

At first glance, it may seem like B12 can only be obtained from animal sources, such as meat and eggs. However, this is actually not the case. In fact, there are many plant-based foods that are high in B12, including nutritional yeast.
Additionally, some bacteria naturally produce B12 in their own bodies, meaning that even if you arent consuming any animal products at all, you can still get all of the B12 you need through a healthy diet.
So if youre concerned about getting enough of this essential vitamin, dont worry you can supplemnt with B12 daily to ensure that your body stays healthy and nourished.

What Is The Dr Sebi Diet
This diet is based on the African Bio-Mineral Balance theory and was developed by the self-educated herbalist Alfredo Darrington Bowman better known as Dr. Sebi. Despite his name, Dr. Sebi was not a medical doctor and did not hold a PhD.
He designed this diet for anyone who wishes to naturally cure or prevent disease and improve their overall health without relying on conventional Western medicine.
According to Dr. Sebi, disease is a result of mucus buildup in any area of your body. He claimed that pneumonia is caused by a buildup of mucus in the lungs, while diabetes is triggered by excess mucus in the pancreas.
He argued that diseases cannot exist in an alkaline environment and begin to occur when your body becomes too acidic. His diet and proprietary costly supplements purport to restore your bodys natural alkaline state and detoxify your diseased body.
Originally, Dr. Sebi claimed that this diet could cure conditions like AIDS, sickle cell anemia, leukemia, and lupus. However, after a 1993 lawsuit, he was ordered to cease such claims.
The diet consists of a specific list of approved vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds, oils, and herbs. As animal products arent permitted, the Dr. Sebi diet is considered a vegan diet.
Sebi claimed that for your body to heal itself, you must follow the diet consistently for the rest of your life.
Finally, while many people insist that the program has healed them, no scientific studies support these claims.

What Is The Dr Sebi Diet Plan
Dr. Sebis eating regimen, in comparison to other plant-based diets that are solely alkaline-based, sets patients on very strict vegan meals and supplements to alkalize the blood. This diet is adamantly opposed to the use of animal protein, refined carbohydrates, and wheat products.
There are rigorous nutritional rules that must be observed when following this diet. To maintain this diet one must drink at least one gallon of water daily and take Dr. Sebi supplements. The diet, however, is deficient in protein because it excludes animal products and goods. People who follow this diet may also be deficient in essential B-12.
Which Foods Are Alkaline Rich
Given that your diet has no substantial effect on your blood pH, theres no scientific reason to restrict your intake to only those foods listed above .
Alkaline-promoting foods include most vegetables, fruits, nuts, and whole grains. Research shows that diets rich in a variety of these foods improve your health and help you live longer .
Thus, there are many good reasons to include more plant-based foods in your diet. In other words, health-promoting foods extend far beyond Dr. Sebis list of permitted foods.
Therefore, you should also consider eating these foods as part of a balanced diet:
- Fruits: fresh coconut, bananas, and kiwi
- Vegetables: potatoes, Swiss chard, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, iceberg lettuce, cauliflower, and soybeans
- Legumes: lentils and beans
- Proteins: tofu
summary
