Why I Love This Recipe

1800 Coconut Margarita

Do you like Pina Coladas? Margaritas? If both answers are yes, you will LOVE this drink. It combines the best of these to make a truly delightful cocktail. It mixes up in minutes and gives a sweet and smooth taste sensation in every sip.

The coconut flavor predominates but is balanced with pineapple and lime to keep all the taste buds happy. The beverage is light and refreshing, yet completely satisfying.

Its a perfect drink to enjoy on a warm summer day or any day you want to feel like you are in the tropics!

And actually, it has slightly less liquor than a traditional margarita, since only tequila is used and no triple sec. So you can totally justify having another if youd like.

How To Make A Pineapple Coconut Margarita

This is a delicious pineapple coconut margarita that tastes simple to both a margarita and a pina colada. If youd like you can increase the serving size to make an entire pitcher.

  • Rum a lime wedge over the edge of the glass to coat it evenly.
  • In a small flat plate mix the lime zest and granulated sugar. Dip the coated rim of the glass into the mixture and set it aside.
  • Pour the pineapple juice and coconut milk into a blender and blend quickly until smooth.
  • Add the tequila, agave, lime juice, and pineapple mixture to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Add ice to the prepared glass and strain the cocktail into it.

Buy Cream Of Coconut Not Coconut Cream

The most important thing about this coconut margarita is making sure to buy the right coconut product. Buy cream of coconut, not coconut cream! A good rule of thumb? Opt for the squeeze bottle, not the can. Heres more about what to know:

  • Cream of coconut is a sweetened syrup used for cocktails. Its made with coconut cream and sugar. Its sold in handy squeeze bottles to make it easy to add to drinks. Cream of coconut is easy to find online or at your local liquor store. A popular brand is Coco Real.
  • Coconut cream is unsweetened! Its thick with a strong coconut flavor and sold in cans next to the coconut milk. Coconut cream is made from chilling coconut milk and then skimming off the layer of cream that floats to the top.

Which Tequila Is Best For Margarita Cocktails

OK so your at your local bottle shop and I dont blame you if your a little overwhelmed by the choice of Tequila. There are two types of Tequila Gold, being the darker, aged version and Silver/blanco which is clear.

Silver/blanco Tequila tends to work best as it has a more mellow flavour and wont overpower the cocktail. It will leave you with that nice smooth taste.

For a sweet and refreshing flavour combo you can also use a coconut infused tequila such as 1800 coconut Tequila

To Make These Pia Colada Margaritas You Will Need:

Coconut Pineapple Margarita Recipe – Pina Colada meets Margarita!
  • maple syrup or agave
  • toasted coconut
  • cream of coconut
  • pineapple juice

Start by adding unsweetened coconut to a skillet. Heat on medium-low and toss occasionally until fragrant and golden brown in spots.

Transfer to a mini food processor or personal blender and pulse to finely chop. Next, transfer the finely chopped toasted coconut to a shallow plate.

Dip the rim of your glass in agave or maple syrup.

And then dip the rim of the glass into the toasted coconut.

Then to your toasted coconut rimmed glass, add 3 ounces of coconut tequila. Im using 1800 coconut tequila.

And pour in 1 ounce cream of coconut.

What Is Cream Of Coconut?

Cream of Coconut is non-alcoholic coconut cream that has been processed in a way that makes it sweet and syrupy and is primarily used as a mixer for drinks and cocktails. You can find this near the liquor isle with other mixers like grenadine and other non-alcoholic mixers. I have not tested this recipe with canned coconut cream as they are not considered to be the same.

Grab a electric mini whisk.

And blend together until slightly frothy.

Next add ice to the glass.

Top with 1-1/2 ounces pineapple juice or more to taste.

Serve with a squeeze of lime.

Sip. Sigh. Repeat.

With 3 ounces of tequila, this cocktail packs a punch so please drink responsibly.

How Many Calories Are In A 1800 Ultimate Margarita

1800s Ultimate Margarita comes premixed, so theres no need to add your own tequila. 1800 suggests pouring it over ice or blending it with ice to enjoy the beverage. A 4-ounce serving comes in at 130 calories, about the same number of calories as a 12-ounce can of beer or 5-ounce serving of red wine.

Opt For Silver Tequila

Stick with clear liquors like silver tequila to help avoid congeners, a compound created during alcohol fermentation thats been linked to more severe, longer-lasting hangovers.

That doesnt mean you can start pounding shots or go back for a third margarita. But silver or blanco tequila may make the next day less painful and be less taxing on your body.

The Best Summer Cocktail

Perhaps its summer, perhaps its the love of the citrusy lime-flavor, or perhaps its the overall fresh taste, but a is one of my favorite cocktails. This coconut margarita with strong hints of pineapple is a sweet twist on a classic cocktail.

The simple combination of the classic drink elements such as fresh lime juice, simple syrup, or agave, with new ingredients of coconut milk and pineapple juice, make this cocktail a hit.

I always get excited when I crack open the cocktail menu at any given restaurant and see a long list of specialty margaritas. Ill read all the delicious-sounding ingredients mixed together in what sounds like an amazing burst of flavor, and yet, I usually never venture out to try those tasty-sounding concoctions.

Only later do I end up trying my own version at home like this blueberry mint margarita, which encourages me to again try something new the next time.

This drink goes beyond my expectations for a great cocktail. Similar to a pina colada and a margarita at the base but with a sweet and tangy finish. Its the perfect summer drink.

What Is A Margarita

Pineapple Coconut Hennessy Margarita | Pineapple cup drink (How to make)

A traditional margarita has tequila, triple sec , lime juice, and sweetener – either simple syrup or agave nectar.

The classic cocktail is shaken with ice and can be served up in a cocktail glass like a , over ice in a rocks glass, or blended with ice as a frozen drink. It usually has salt on the rim, especially if it’s not blended. That picks up on all the elements of a classic tequila shot-tequila, lime juice and salt-and blends it into a sweet, tart, fruity, salt-kissed drink.

A skinny margarita swaps the triple sec for orange juice, reducing the sugar and alcohol a little bit. My margarita of choice is close to this. I take it one step further and skip the sweetener altogether. The orange juice makes it just sweet enough to be refreshing without it being too sweet.

The twist today is using flavored tequila. This 1800 coconut tequila has a light tropical flavor that reminds you of vacation. Swapping the orange juice for pineapple juice gives it a pina colada vibe making it perfect for an island-inspired coconut margarita.
